i have the same chainsaw but it doesnt have the magnetron in it so i have to put one in it,ill probably use it for my homemade rc car that im building.
You probably just needed a $10-$15 carb kit for the snowblower, or even just carb mxiture adjustment. Great score on the Homie XL, very clean. Looks like one of the last XL saws made by the real company before they went to Asia.
Just be carefull with your tune adjustment on the 2 cycles. Lean kills them quickly, a little rich is safe. Find where they run at max rpm on the high (H) screw, then go a little counterclockwise to where they slow down a tad. That is slightly rich, will give more power under load and prevent you from being too lean. That XL saw should have no high (H) adjustment. just idle mixture (L) and idle speed. High speed mix is fixed on that saw. Rock on.
how many inch bar is that i just bought the same saw for $20 but the bar is worn out mines a 10 inch and can not find another one if its a bigger bar please tell me i want to know the capabilitys of the saw
Its not the carburator thats faulty. Its the owner thats faulty. Tecumseh's need a little more TLC because the carburators are the lowest point of the fuel system. When storing them its best to drain the gas, and clean the inside of the float bowl which hardly anybody practices. I have to do it to my Ariens snowblowers every year. If you have old shitty gas in your float bowl it wont run.
Compared to a Toro, or Ariens yes. The Toro, or Ariens are easier to get parts for. Most of the time you have to special order an MTD part, but the particular MTD snowblower i had was a common one that was easy to find parts for. MTD is good for small homeowner jobs. If you want to do the big jobs buy a better quality one. Almost all snow equipment has Tecumseh engines anyway regardless of equipment brand.
I guess delivering papers means you get an earlier start then most, so you get the good stuff out of the trash before everybody else wakes up.... Nice saw, you should tape yourself on the hunt for mowers and stuff.
I dont usually hunt for things unless its in spring time. Things like the saw, and the weed eater lawnmower i found by surprize. Since the neighborhood on my route is upper middle class families they throw out really good shit. I found a working sega genesis with 2 games, a working whirlpool washer, a 1956 Columbia bicycle, speakers, gun cabinet, pet taxi, etc. A month ago i found a pool table with 2 sticks, rack, and balls which i sold for $65.00. Somebody sold their house, and tossed it.
the new chainsaws sound so much differente compared to the old ones, we got a 1976 John Deere and doesn't sound like that at all, too bad for the snowblower
Were did you get the hybrid yo-yo/video camera?

Looking back i think the snowblower probably had poor compression anyways.
