  • Territoires de l'oubli was written in 1977 for the French composer-pianist Michaël Lévinas, who gave the first performance in Rome, in 1978. You can also enjoy the reconding of Dominique My and of Ichiro Nodaïra.

  • fantastic piece!

  • une grande revelation à l'aube de mes 25 ans

  • i know he doesnt us it in this piece, but does anyone know what he used the tapes and ring modulation for in his other pieces?

  • alguien me puede decir como se hace el espectralismo??????????

  • Was Murail a spectralist composer that studied overtones? I think that's what he tried experimenting with in this piece.

  • He was working on a "group of strings whose vibration is caused by sympathetic resonance or by direct action of the hammers."

  • En lo que respecta a la música para piano, sólo los estudios de Ligeti se acercan a este monumento; como alguién ya lo decía "una fantasía de resonancias"

  • murail es el autómata espiritual

  • max/msp rulezz!!!

  • this isn't max/msp... it is Patchwork, an earlier program developed at the Ircam, based on Common Lisp

  • Thank you for posting this. Wonderful!

  • nice, but this is NOT a premiere recording.

this piece was recorded in the early 90's if not before.

  • You may be right. I misread the liner notes; some of the recordings on this disc are premieres, but apparently not this one. What are some of the other recordings of this piece? I would like to hear them.

  • no problem.

  • i just listened this album last week actually. what a spectacular set of compositions... i was mostly unfamiliar with murail's work.

nonken's amazing--fine pianist, strong intellect, gracious personality.

  • Does the music has anything to do with MAX/MSP?

  • That's what I'm wondering.

  • the screenshot is from PATCHWORK, earlier than max/msp.

  • No.

  • Very nice. thanks for posting it.

  • This is an extremely fascinating piece. I've never heard a composition like this before.
