@chatty125 sorry to tell you but you're wrong. Many europeans who live in the US refer to football as soccer. Its just a word. I should also mention that the word soccer was originated in England.
Frasier is banned from yet another restaurant. Pretty soon all he will have left is Burger,Burger, Burger or Chicken, Chicken Chicken or the Lumber Mill. After that it will be either Burger King or the Pizza Hut.
Just a sign of how good a brother Frasier is: he tells Niles he's sorry and doesn't complain about getting banned from his favorite restaurant (I'm sure he'll bring it up later but still)...
Jane Leeves has one of the most powerful gifts for romantic drama. The tension in the early Glockenspiel episode is too delicious. The episode where she and Niles run away is something I've sat and pondered over a glass of wine. And this scene where she tells him she has to marry him right then and there... Hollywood really missed out by not getting her on the big screen. I could see her in a remake of Casablanca.
As an english person... I dislike how fake the english scene is in Frasier. It's stereotypes that barely exist anymore! You might have seen people in a pub like that and talking the way they do in the 70s but not now :O
@bacholerno2 Yes, it is a bit stereotypical. I live in Europe too and I know that is how Americans see us. Although, it was hilarious when Niles walked into the pub holding a handkerchief to his mouth to avoid smoke inhilation :-) and there is an element of truth to that scene as well: The U.S. is way ahead of Europe when it comes to smoke-free public places.
"What happened to snogging behind the chippy?!" LMAO. Being half British, I love that line even more. There are a lot of lines in this two-part episode that I love, especially when he's at the pub with Harry.
For instance: "She's a fine bit of skirt." "Ta." LOL
i love the look on daphne's face when mr. moon says 'all to make you happy' in reference to niles...it finally hits home that when he says he'd do anything for her, he literally means it
@victorianrobot He doesn't have to clutter the moment with words-he doesn't even stop to think about it because it's destiny. he just gets his coat because nothing else matters but her...love to meet a guy like that someday. not sure they even make them anymore-sigh
@LAX324 I'm the same way! They have to be really meaningful to get to me and this did...I really was tearing up. I think it's b/c I really FELT what Daph was saying. I'd love a guy that would do that for me.
Ya know...it's a miracle Daphne turned out to be the funny, silly, loving, caring, whacked out person that she is...given her parents and rest of her family!!
To clarify on the wine front: Most restaurants sell wine at 3-4 times what shops charge. But many will allow you to pay 'corkage' on a special bottle from home.
Wow! I must admit I'm a little embarrassed. I guess I am too immersed in my own little world sometimes. Thank you for your response 4everCharmed, you opened my eyes to a broader spectrum of the world.
I am American but I'm not wealthy. I live in a beach community that thrives on tourism so there are a lot of upscale shops and restaurants but most of us that live here permanantly can't afford to go to them.
Mh I see, anyway.. I'd swap in a heartbeat.. I always wanted to move to america.. I thought I would..i am actually kinda in the progress of moving..that is if my fiancé didn't dump me without letting me know..
Not at all. That's very interesting. It is very nice here and I admit I am spoiled to some degree. I hope that you do get to come to America and that you enjoy it! Congratulations on being engaged btw.
@Arthur5041975 There's something about a gruff, honest man who is a teddybear to his princess of a daughter, but a beast to his meanie of a wife...Yes, he has his flaws and he wears them with a certain Brit swagger, but there is more to him that meets the eye, something tender and fragile and true...
Brian Cox fits the bill perfectly! You completely believe he is the father of Daphne, which is a difficult role to live up to for audience expectations.
@emmnauta It was just a funny way of showing how excited Niles was that his plan was working. Typically he would have been bothered by it, but he was so happy he didn't even care.
