  • Great video thanks so much for posting this I am looking to plant some muscadine vines and this looks like a great set up you have.

  • id like to plow her furrow!!!!

  • Really good video. Thank you.

  • Thank you, Kim, for a VERY informative video. FANTASTIC!

  • lol I'm from oklahoma and was wanting to grow some grapes and then i looked at your user name and went OH MY GOSH!!!! :)

  • McNeely's Ace Hardware, or other Ace Hardware stores.

  • Where do you buy 9 gauge wire? Having a hard time finding it. I found the connectors and tool at Kencove but I dont see the wire.

  • Will Kim please answer some of the people's questions on here? Is it too much to ask?

  • It is not clear to me how your grape plants are spaced when planted. Your entire row is 24 feet and the grape plants should be 8 feet apart. Could you please tell me how you recommend placing the grape plants? Thanks! Great video.

  • Thanks for the informative video. I am a school teacher and a backyard gardener. I've cemented the 4x4 post, drilled the holes for the wire vise and used 9 gauge galvanized wire. What/How should I tighten the wire to get it taunt? Do you recommend some sort of tool or method?

  • Can get wire and wire vise at Kencove Farm Fence Supplies

  • I live in Texas. I have a 3 year old grape vine (don't know which kind). The last 2 years it gets blotchy yellow leaves with black spots; very much like the ones in your video. This is the first year the vine is sprouting grapes. Is it normal to have the sick looking leaves? How can I avoid it?

  • @jsemelgar,

This is normal, as american varieties are ready for harvest at the end of their growing season (e.g., when the leaves fall off and the vine goes into "hibernation"). In US temperate zones, this is usually in late fall. If there is yellowing in the spring to summer time frame there may other issues that need to be investigated

  • Where do you get the Wire Vise for #9 wire? I can find it for #12 wire but not for #9 wire.

  • I had the same problem too. I found two places online where you can order them. I bought mine from Kencove Farm Fence Supplies, item # cwv89. They were called Quick-End 9 Guage. They work the same as "Wire Vices" and cost less. I paid $1.49 ea plus shipping ($4.95). The other place I found is Midwest Vineyard Supply. They are called "wire vices" item # 5064v, but they cost $2.60 ea and the shipping is not clear and very open ended. The first one is best, I received in 1 week from order.

  • @jennleier Thank you! I also found them at Orchard Valley Supply dot com

  • where do yo find wire vive brkts

  • Seach for "wire vise" to get the item she refers to as a wire bite.

  • Where do you buy the wire bites? Can't find them at Home Depot.

  • @csoukphaly e-bay!

  • It would be Really Really helpful, if you could tell me where to get those wire clamps at the end of the posts.

    Thanks.

  • Where do we find the wire bites for the grape trellis? Thanks, D

  • So how would you set the posts if you were on a hill?

  • sorry but that looks crap. in my garden we have four wooden poles with a wooden trellace ceiling with grapes hanging down creating a cool shady spot to sit :)

  • @crip23walk23 i wouldnt be so quick to judge. it sounds as though you have an Arbor-Type trellis system, designed as you say for having a nice little shaded area to sit under. what this woman is doing is making herself a traditional fruit bearing type trellis so she can maximize the output of quality fruit, as well as having it at an easy to work on height. i would assume that this is a test run, and that she has actually built alot more of these in her fruit orchard.

  • @crip23walk23 So professional producers in California and all across the country/world, with all those millions of acres of wine grapes on this type of trellis system, with years and years of exprience and science behind them, are doing it wrong according to you? You must be the smartest person ever.

  • @TheJustme222 ummm no im a teenager, and i just realised that this video is JUST for production nothing else fancy. :)
