THIS GAME IS FREAKING AMAZING. 100 Hours in and it's practically like I haven't even made a dent in all the content this game has to offer! Seriously addicting weapon and armor creation and upgrade system! Beautiful Graphics. Tons of stuff to do. Any game of the Monster hunter series is a must have if you own a PSP. You should be smacked upside the head if you own a PSP but don't have Monster Hunter. Honostly i think this game is a lot better than most console games I've played.
@BenjaminKuruga yep but those few elder dragons CAN take longer, but won't have to and manny doesnt mean some elder dragons. most of the elder dragons take 25+15m. max, if it takes longer... you're doing it wrong
@thijssiewit Yup ^_^ Hardest monster IMO is tigrex, I'm trying to get to G-rank after doing Akantor over 12 times. and I'm going the low-rank absolute power Tigrex and I'm actually fainting with hi-rank armor, the maps are too small :P
@BenjaminKuruga ok, you should check out how to role through his wings, makes it alot easyer, i'm kinda finished with mhfu. i had the most trouble with rajang, now playing porteble 3rd, in my a opinion the best mh so awesome :O
@thijssiewit MHFU was technically the biggest and its my recommendation for someone to start with, portable third was a 10/10 ... but the Japanese gets in my way :(
With the tigrex, I've fought 86 apparently and still have trouble. He's easy as long as you don't get hit, but maps (MHFU) are too small.

there's a bug on this game i kill a monster near an entrance to another location and i cant carve it because 1meter (in game length) is next to another location T_T but all in all this is a good game...

It seems to me that this version has got more content than the Monster hunter Tri for wii, is it true? If it is, it's kinda unfair. The Graphics are indeed better on Wii, but there are bigger monsters in this and better envirement...
This game is awesome. My only problem with it is that the game gets incredibly frustrating at times. Also, I'm HR 1 and I don't know how to increase it. If anyone can tell me now....
@Mohanned40 You raise your HR through guild quets not the cheifs. You can look up what monsters you have to kill in each level to get the urgent to raise your HR. You'll get there im only HR6 atm.
This game is great, I bought a psp only for this game and it was well worth it. You can play solo and it is still great!! I am now hr 9, ready for more and now hoping that monster hunter portable 3 comes out anywhere outside of japan.
@popopopboy They have a MH MMO it is called Frontier...but it is Japan, Korea only! And it has some of the best monsters like Akira Vashiu and Nono/Kamu Orugaron and the Espinas, and several other amazing monsters.
noob, i've started playing Monster Hunter, and the controls are easy to use. each monster has a specific behavior and u hav to watch it to know what to do, this game is rlly bout trial and error - u try fighting a big monster 1 way and that fails so u try it another way and u win. this game has almost INFINITE replability and tons of things to keep u busy - an online mode and etc. This game is the pure meaning of time killer.
awesome game, but I don't get why people say it's an action Rpg when it's not. It was clearly classified on Famitsu as just an action game, and there is no leveling up system in the game.
@Ps3GamerVideos I'd say rent this and see if ya like it first. Peace Walker is a must have though; can never go wrong with MGS--more specifically one that's cannon (a part of the official story).

@Sato1515 exactly, it's all part of skill. Like if there was camera lock-on, the Nargakuga(whatever you call that panther dragon) will be much weaker.
I think capcom is the reason this game hasn't taken off in America. Since the original MH on PS2, the decisions made by the developers have forced gamers to stay away. A game with a ridiculous amount of communication, had no voice chat. This game would benefit so much from a lock on feature but Capcom continues to omit this. Imagine an MH game with full online, full voice chat, a retooled fighting system, on the ps3 or 360. That would be amazing.
@iceberg325 the ommition of a lock-on feature is actually on of MH's strengths if seen in the right POV. hitting a monsters head because of YOUR timing and skill is one of the most satisfying features of this game because all combat situations are because of what YOU have brought onto the field. understandably, it is difficult to get used to but once you have it down no other game on the PSP rivals that level of satisfaction

you can solo this game if you like its just....well? really really hard to do. I'm HR6 and have given up the guild quests from now to start on the elder felyne quests which are just like HR6 quests but a whooooole lot easier.

well, i actually havent had problems ith the actualy monster needed to advance in HR, but the other monsters are really tough to do alone, such awful quests like silver n gold
@RyuuMasato Yes, I have basically solo-ed the whole game. I couldn't do guild quests (Hated them) and only did elder quests. Although I have managed to kill the Ankanter and many of the proper dragons loads of times :D
I thinks this game is only worth playing if you can get online with it. I tried playing it myself, at first it was very attractive, graphics, etc. But It is so boring. There is no storyline to this game. And I dont have a ps3 to play this. Thats why I dont play it.
And yeah having Xlink kai or PS3 Party is a HUUUGE plus, i have played about 100h alone and 40h multiplayer, and in those 40h i adnvanced the game 10x as fast as alone xD
the addictiveness is similar, except it combines strategy with physical attacks whereas in pokemon, its more strategy in that you're just pressing a button to attack
I've played pokemon since silver so the answer is yes this game is way better than pokemon. Actually I don't even know if you can even compare a game like monster hunter to a game like pokemon. Their gameplay and difficulty level is completely different.
Im on level 4 quest with three monsters left to get to the urgent quest. This game is so hard solo. I tried playing with a friend but he suked and died quickly.

there are no i repeat no monsters u cant solo. it all depends on skill and equipment even g white fatalis can be soloed and ucanlos is a joke once u get good.

This reviewer sed tht MOST monsters take MORE than an hour to kill. The quest time limit is 50 min, and most monsters take less time than that. Only elder dragons may take more than one quest to kill.
This reviewer says the camera controls are hard to control. This guy can't have played for more than an hour, as they are easy IMO and well done for a psp game, though for some may take a while to get used to. But its worth getting into. I have over 400 hrs of gameplay. And im not finished.
a fair review but after u play for about an hour ul adap ur left hand index finger to control the camera ul master it fast enoth this game is the only thing thats worth playing on psp.
I also like the fact that you can now buy stuff from the stalls and send them straight to your item box and also combine items in your item box, making managing your items in this game far more superior to the prequels

Crisis core is a really good RPG game, it's really enjoyable if you played ff 7 first but it doesn't really matter, but compared to mhfu its faster too beat (since mhfu is like 500hours of game play)so it depends on your taste, good luck picking
i dont fucking care about how capcom will include an infrastructure mode, but thats for sure that if they do ill buy anything to get it, even if they re-publish Unite with an Infrastructure mode, I'll buy it again. Yeah, i got ad-hoc party, but its too hard to find a game that suits your HR (always a stupid high HR, wich the HR 1 or 2 got always kicked with a non-readable text). There could be channels for HR 1-2/HR3-4/etc, wich could be rly cool, witch their own maked set of games 4 player each

great game.on monster hunter 2 i got up to the sand level and had to fight these worms under the sand. i just gave up. it was way to hard and i trade it back in. until a noob friendly monster hunter comes out on psp. im not gona buy it.
Are you referring to the Cephalos? You just throw a sonic bomb and they pop right outta the sand. It really can be a challenging game to master but it's all about finding the weakness of the monsters you get pit against. I have MHF2 already and I'm just trying to decide whether to "upgrade" it to MHUnite on the ps network. It's an amazing game though, had a ps2 demo years ago and never really got into it. For some reason it wasn't until Freedom that I started to really love it

if you got MHF 2 you can import your save to MHF U. If you only have MHF 1, trust me, it worth to get Unite (I had MHF 1 before MHF U). Starting quests aren't the same, and the only way to fight a rathalos alone is to get the quest in the guild hall, otherwise is to do the duo rathalos and rathian. in fact, im in the 5 star quests and haven't fought a rathalos or rathian in the pokke village, so... that disapointed me a bit, but i can beat one from guild hall easily now so its ok.
decent review but quests are limited to 50 mins so no monster takes "well over an hour to beat", and the japanese version doesnt support infrastructure mode either. also imo the controls, including the camera controls r awesome and perfect for psp.

you can solo this game if you like its just....well? really really hard to do. I'm HR6 and have given up the guild quests from now to start on the elder felyne quests which are just like HR6 quests but a whooooole lot easier.

lol, i guess, that guild quests are the same as felyne, but u get that easy feeling
well, i actually havent had problems ith the actualy monster needed to advance in HR, but the other monsters are really tough to do alone, such awful quests like silver n gold

@RyuuMasato Yes, I have basically solo-ed the whole game. I couldn't do guild quests (Hated them) and only did elder quests. Although I have managed to kill the Ankanter and many of the proper dragons loads of times :D

I thinks this game is only worth playing if you can get online with it. I tried playing it myself, at first it was very attractive, graphics, etc. But It is so boring. There is no storyline to this game. And I dont have a ps3 to play this. Thats why I dont play it.

And yeah having Xlink kai or PS3 Party is a HUUUGE plus, i have played about 100h alone and 40h multiplayer, and in those 40h i adnvanced the game 10x as fast as alone xD

the addictiveness is similar, except it combines strategy with physical attacks whereas in pokemon, its more strategy in that you're just pressing a button to attack

I've played pokemon since silver so the answer is yes this game is way better than pokemon. Actually I don't even know if you can even compare a game like monster hunter to a game like pokemon. Their gameplay and difficulty level is completely different.

Im on level 4 quest with three monsters left to get to the urgent quest. This game is so hard solo. I tried playing with a friend but he suked and died quickly.

I'm playing but my stamina bar is low and my character keeps holding his stomach and it looks like he's hungry and I can't run properly because I have such a small stamina bar. What do I do?

You should eat well-done steaks, Mega Juice or perhaps rations, wich you can find at the bleu box in your base camp.

few things.
there are no i repeat no monsters u cant solo. it all depends on skill and equipment even g white fatalis can be soloed and ucanlos is a joke once u get good.
second u can play online, all u need is to buy a 300 dollars ps3 and use it as a router :) awwesome
get a jap account download the the adhoc feature for it world J50 is english speakin supports txt and voice chat

This reviewer sed tht MOST monsters take MORE than an hour to kill. The quest time limit is 50 min, and most monsters take less time than that. Only elder dragons may take more than one quest to kill.
This reviewer says the camera controls are hard to control. This guy can't have played for more than an hour, as they are easy IMO and well done for a psp game, though for some may take a while to get used to. But its worth getting into. I have over 400 hrs of gameplay. And im not finished.

I also like the fact that you can now buy stuff from the stalls and send them straight to your item box and also combine items in your item box, making managing your items in this game far more superior to the prequels
Also the new monsters in this game compared to MHF2 are:
Hypnocatrice
Narcacuga
Yamatsu Kami
Ukanlos
Lavasioth
And colour varients of some older monsters (eg. Emerald Congalala and Desert Blangonga)

Because there are new monsters, there would be more monster items, meaning more armor sets.
There are 5 new monsters along with colour varients of some of the older monsters.
Also you can have 3 different skills on your felyne comrades (eg. heal, defense buff, earplug buff)

Crisis core is a really good RPG game, it's really enjoyable if you played ff 7 first but it doesn't really matter, but compared to mhfu its faster too beat (since mhfu is like 500hours of game play)so it depends on your taste, good luck picking

i dont fucking care about how capcom will include an infrastructure mode, but thats for sure that if they do ill buy anything to get it, even if they re-publish Unite with an Infrastructure mode, I'll buy it again. Yeah, i got ad-hoc party, but its too hard to find a game that suits your HR (always a stupid high HR, wich the HR 1 or 2 got always kicked with a non-readable text). There could be channels for HR 1-2/HR3-4/etc, wich could be rly cool, witch their own maked set of games 4 player each

Good review. I love this game so much. I'm geting it tomorrow. I don't know why everyone says it's so hard though. I beat every quest in Mhf2 solo and I thought it was pretty easy. 5 stars!!!!

great game.on monster hunter 2 i got up to the sand level and had to fight these worms under the sand. i just gave up. it was way to hard and i trade it back in. until a noob friendly monster hunter comes out on psp. im not gona buy it.

Are you referring to the Cephalos? You just throw a sonic bomb and they pop right outta the sand. It really can be a challenging game to master but it's all about finding the weakness of the monsters you get pit against. I have MHF2 already and I'm just trying to decide whether to "upgrade" it to MHUnite on the ps network. It's an amazing game though, had a ps2 demo years ago and never really got into it. For some reason it wasn't until Freedom that I started to really love it

if you got MHF 2 you can import your save to MHF U. If you only have MHF 1, trust me, it worth to get Unite (I had MHF 1 before MHF U). Starting quests aren't the same, and the only way to fight a rathalos alone is to get the quest in the guild hall, otherwise is to do the duo rathalos and rathian. in fact, im in the 5 star quests and haven't fought a rathalos or rathian in the pokke village, so... that disapointed me a bit, but i can beat one from guild hall easily now so its ok.

decent review but quests are limited to 50 mins so no monster takes "well over an hour to beat", and the japanese version doesnt support infrastructure mode either. also imo the controls, including the camera controls r awesome and perfect for psp.

the 'well over an hour' is in reference to the fact that you'll (probably) die at least a few times when taking on a large chunk of the monsters.
