  • This makes me so sad listening to it. Knowing that its closed now. Such a great song and show.

  • Under the artist it says Original Cast Recording - JANE EYRE?!?

  • I cry every single time I listen to this song, and I have no shame in admitting that. This musical, and this song, is a gift.

  • Every time I hear this I want to cry. MTI Shows needs to finally allow schools to license this show!!! :'(

  • ok two things, this is my first time ever listening to anything from in the heights. one) this is not what iwould call my type of music, let alone musical, i am more into the sondheim and hammerstein type stuff, but i am blown away i did not think that a rap musical would work but i love this stuff.

two) this is very amazing, fro some reason i keep on thinking about west side story, which is a good thing cuz i think this might have as much immortality as WWS or gypsy or South Pacific or RENT.

  • @KyleOgilvie1

Well see, that's the thing. It's not one musical genre. It's a mixture of A LOT.

  • @ghyprh i can see that i notice it blend latin with hip hop and r&b. it is bloody brilliant. Lin Manuel Miranda is a genious.

  • @KyleOgilvie1 Interesting how musical theater has evolved in the 50-60 years since West Side Story, South Pacific, and Gypsy. And though it pains me to point this out, RENT is almost 20.

  • @drpushkin even the change from West Side Story, which is alot more classical type music, and Gypsy, which is more big band. the moral of the story, change is for the better, even though classics are for ever.

  • i really wanna go see this again!!!

  • 3 people aren't home yet.

  • 3 people aren't home yet.

  • Lovin the Bolero at the beginning....

  • god this song gives me chills every damn time, ive never liked musicals until i heard this soundtrack, long live Lin Miranda

  • I get chills listening to this song, I even cry sometimes, it was an amazing play

  • This song reminded me so much of where I grew up think I cried like a baby first time I heard it. Great story great music great play.

  • this shows been gone only like a month, and it feels like years...

  • goosebumps. every time. i love this song.

  • I can not avoid crying when I'm listening this song ...

  • In the Heights...........Para Siempre......

  • Lin-Manuel Miranda is a fucking genius.

  • "Who's gonna notice we're gone?"

We notice you're gone (from Broadway), In The Heights and we will love you forever and miss you always! Thank you so much for everything you've done for me, your inspiration and keeping me going and believing dreams come true.

  • the minute lin manuel miranda guest stars on glee i will actually start watching that show

  • this gives me chills everytime i listn to this just love this play

  • How can they close this show?!!! A show that is greater than West Side Story, with a great sterotypes for a change, where a neighborhood actually CARES for everyone! I pray they make the movie version soon and Hollywood doesn't screw it up!

  • @rsantee2001

The show closed because people started to not come see the show after the show's second anniversary of the show on broadway.

  • @rsantee2001 yup and they need the original cast to star

  • I saw them in Puerto Rico and I almost couldn't stop shouting and screaming!!! it was my first ever Broadway show but out of Broadway and I was amazed, mesmerized, ok ok I cried!!! AMAZING!!

  • In the Heights owns glee

  • i went to go see this and it was so good like i really would like to see it again it was so good and i got the chillz when they sang this and when this girls dad was singing that he didnt want to turn into his dad and that he was sad he didnt have any money to give his daugheter to go to college and i stared to cry it was so sad

  • I cry everytime I hear this. So much emotion. By far the BEST Broadway Show ever. <3

  • Please Don't Go :'(

This show has changed me so much. I don't want it to leave.

    Why?

  • Ufff! es inevitable no emocionarse o hasta llorar al escuchar esta cancion... El sentimiento que le pone es demasiado.. Se nota que se lo vive... Es algo WOW! ...

  • i love this song its so good

    it gives me chills

    the show was great to

  • This song NEVER fails to bring me to tears! I thank God for this show. Lin-Manuel, you are genius. Your cast is genius. And I can't wait to witness the GENIUS TO COME! :) Many blessings.

  • @JyNa93 Pues claro voy de cabaza pa' alla! Todavia no he comprado la taquilla pero esta semana la compro!!! :)

  • ..take a train to the top of the world and I'm there..

I was so happy for Usnavi during this part, I cried. I will never ever forget experiencing this on broadway, It was a beautiful and inspiring show, I don't think the chills I got when I sat there watching have ever gone away..

  • i wish i could see this play again, when i saw it i was still young and couldn't appreciate so much the play :(

  • Did anyone else notice that the song on the record in the show skips on the word "forever" as if that word goes on forever and that Usnavi is going to stay home forever. Great writing indeed!!

  • K, so i just found and went through every single "In the heights" song, in a row, just cuz i love it that much

But i couldn't find "No me diga (Reprise)

    Can you post that GuilleCarvajal?

  • I've never seen this musical. I barely even know anything about it, and this song *still* moves me to tears. So powerful.

  • the attached lyrics to this video are wrong. I actually have the real album with the lyrics and this has a few mistakes

  • @sink3131 I wish i had those

What are the mistakes? I've gotta know!

  • @TheSpartansvselites Ya it is "Hydrant is a beach" and it is "and if not me who keeps our legacies", "if you close your eyes..." "and I can say goodbye to you smilin'" : There are a couple more one word mistakes but it's not a big deal. You should get the In The Heights album because it has all of the songs, the lyrics, and the summary of what is going on in the play!

  • @sink3131 Though i know the part that says "the hydrant is a beat" is actually "the hydrant is a beach" right?

  • This is one of the most haunting finales. Maybe haunting is the wrong word, but it definitely stays with me long after it's over. If it wasn't for this recording, I'd be spending all my money just rewatching the show for this. It's perfect

  • I cant wait to see this in LA. My new favorite musical.

  • @DaVader8394 I know right... like 2 weeks... sooo excited... Im seeing it on the 3rd at the Pantages... Cant wait for Lin

  • wow uh, hmm... I don't like that last note.

  • 96,000 views that awesome.

  • Does anyone know the name of the bolero song at the beginning?

  • @Sayuri89 Apparently, it's called "Siempre", but as far as I know, it's not a real song. It was just manufactured for In The Heights. :)

  • That's REAL TALENT

  • I love the beginning. The people get what they want, but with Usnavi leaving it's not worth it

  • This song made me cry D; I love In The Heights and I will beg Lin-Manuel himself if he ever decides not to come back at least once because he's the only man for the role. . .he IS Usnavi

  • i love this musical!

  • por que did it have to end

  • Love this show :)

God, it's so moving! Especially this song!

  • wow, that gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. Thats good theater.

  • I cry every time I listen to this. I was a complete mess when I got the chance to see it live.

  • I literally get chills every time I listen to this =) Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius and I can't thank him enough for writing this show!!!

  • Right?

  • @jazzyt1791 The same thing happens to me every time as well.

  • when the gate went down revealing his painting i cried, such a great play!

  • same here!

  • Same here... same here... same here!!! I was a mess!

  • I know right? I got to go on stage after the show because i'm a friend of a friend of one of the actress in new york. if you get close enough to it it really looks like the actress, so she jokes she'll never lose her job because no one else could look so much like it.

  • @gothicgrl44 its a musical. dont atch if you dont respect

  • @gothicgrl44 Me tooooooooo! I just saw it in Detroit!

  • The Best Show Ever!! Every time I play this cd it feels me with so Much Life!!!!! xxxxx

  • @miggylito21 it is the best show!! i had the best time watching it!! how strange just saw your comment, whilst rembering the good times x

  • Gives me chills toward the end.

  • Holy God- I've been a theater nut for ten years and every time I saw this soundtrack in stores I always skipped over it, thinking it prolly isn't that good. THIS SHOW BLOWS ME AWAY!!! :)))

  • Wish I could actually see this,if the clips on Youtube are anything to go by then I simply cannot miss this. Just gotta get to America! Lin is a genius :D

  • saw it today. absolutely amazing. it was my 24th bway show and my fave by far. (sorry rent )

  • @healthyaddixion aww ure so lucky....24! im at 12 haha

but rent was awesome!!! but In The Heights...simply wow... i loved it so so much! never have i wanted to run back and see a show so quick

  • @babygurl088 i cant wait to see it! i love rent. will always be one of my faves! both rent and ITH are unique, have a message and are beautiful in their own way. ITH reaches close to home, very close. it tells the story of my family, of the community im part of.

  • I'm so glad the lyrics are posted here. I've heard this song several times but I never noticed the line

    "It's a wonderful life that I've known!

Merry Christmas ya ole building and loan!"

    That's a jewel!

  • Ah i actually saw the show last night and that line really stuck out to me and made me so happy

  • <3

I cry through like half of these songs

  • this musical was AMAZING. this last song had me in tears <3 cant wait to see it again

  • I dont know why but my favorite parts are the "para siempre" part and the last note! Amazing!

  • You all do know that this musical was originally a highschool or college paper he had to right. And he turned it all into a musical. He was the director of this musical from all points of view. So if you think about it, the parts about his abuela aren't weird at all. If it was a paper it could have easily been a subject that could have involved his grandmother. So don't say its weird. I think it is an incrdible musical with incredible soundtrack.

  • YahTrick, I think they mean that it was weird that they didn't cry when Abuela Claudia dies, but did cry for this song.

  • If i could cry, this would be a moment.

  • i cried when this song came on... not when the thing with abuela happened.... that is weird. Well I cried more with this song than abuela dying. I love this song!

  • I cry to this song every time.

    D;

    So good.

    <3.

  • this is the best musical in the world

  • It's so beautiful! Thanks Lin-Manuel Miranda for never giving up on your dream- now we all get to be touched by it!

  • There's no neighborhood in NYC with more class, energy, personality or culture than Washington Heights.

    Guess where I'm from...

  • My sister lives in NY and I visited for the first time this summer. She wanted to take me to this show and I really didn't want to go, but we got some obstructed-views and we went. I am a choir teacher and long time musician and can say that I have not felt that much passion since the first time I saw RENT live and I was so attracted to this musical afterward that I am sure I will see it numerous times. Some really great writing, use of comedy/pain/real life, and amazing passionin the music. WOW

  • holy shit..... my goosebumps got goosebumps....

    this

    is....

    AMAZING

  • Completely and wonderfully beautiful.

  • I really hope the movie they are making does justice to this amazing musical. I also hope they keep Lin-Manuel Miranda as Usnavi, it would not be the same without him.

  • This is a great number..... it includes so much feeling!!!!!

  • I love the reference to It's A Wonderful Life! So many meanings there...

  • HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT WHY IS THIS SOOOOO GOOD

  • This is the most amazing finale and is one of my all time favorite songs!! I love it!!!

  • i get chills whenever i listen to this song... IT'S SO AMAZING.

  • this song and the whole album is so amazing, the way everything is so deep, u can tell was written from the heart. thank u, lin miranda for giving the world this musical!

  • I love that part as well. This show has a great message and I can never get tired of listening to some of the music =)

  • Everytime I hear this song I cry, and it always starts when carla and daniella sing "the hydrants are open, cool breezes blow..." Something about the way they sing that just makes me cry so hard, the melody is so sad but the words are inspirational. Love this show...it's gonna be legendary I can feel it...

  • Believe it or not, when I saw this play, I cried.

  • I did too. I loved every second of the show.

  • No words can simply describe

how wonderful is this musical play...!!!

  • Amazing show and such a beautiful finale!

  • Comment removed

  • if you guys watch the "In the heights - recording session" video, Lin Miranda almost breaks into tears while performing this for the cast album, that is how emotional it is for him.

  • I loved this musical, anyone know the name of the beginning song with para siempres?

  • me 2 i love this song it is soo beautiful

  • I don't understand, why was there a riot because of the blackout?

  • Think about it. Power's out. No alarms, phones are down, street lights are off, etc. Everyone's robbing people and shooting and taking advantage of the dark. In some places blackouts can be very dangerous

  • tony awards sry

    best musical

    best choreography

    best orchestrations

  • tyvm

  • how many tiny awards does in the heights have

  • This song makes me cry. Like this show is just so brilliant.

  • Javier Munoz was amazing! i saw it friday night live in NY. the only one i didnt like was nina.. she was off pitch all night.

  • Must've been an off night, both times I saw it she was impeccable. It's tough getting as emphatic as that role demands while maintaining proper pitch.

  • yeah that is true... everyone did amazing though. i really enjoyed Carla. Not only is she gorgeous, but she messed up on a line and Daniela called her out on it. Great Improv, and the crowd roared! this show was by far the best one i've ever seen in my entire life.

  • i'm seeing this april 8th! i'm so so so so so excited.

  • OMG!! i saw this musical like a week ago, but not with Lin and loved it..the guy who played Usnavi did such a good job.. even his shirt was like soaked in sweat lol. this is the best musical i have ever seen.. and i relate to it a bit so that was a plus!

  • Yeah, Javier Muñoz is a great Usnavi. I really liked him :)

  • I cried so much during this show! It's so beautiful and amazing!

  • haunting and beautiful.

    thanks for posting.

  • This Show NEEDS to Come to England!

  • The mix with the bolero and the hip hop is truly amazing. I love the ending!

  • my chorus is going 2 NY for a music festival and i told my director that if we don't see this show while were there then im not going at all!! ive calmed down a little since then but only because Lin isnt going to be with the cast while were in NY and i refuse 2 see the show if he isnt in it :(

  • I love the part at the end where he says:

And let me get the record straight

    I'm stepping to Vanessa

    I'm gettin' the 2nd date

    I'm home!

    Always makes me smile.

  • i wanna see this show!!!

  • Man, sorry for commenting again, but... I get chills at the last few verses. Just how passionately Usnavi sings those verses is just so amazing... ugh.

  • Man, I wish I could go to New York and see this... it seems amazing. But hey, if they follow with that plan to make this a movie, I can just see that! :D

  • I just saw it in New York...best night of my life...and best night there ever will be

  • So did I. The best piece of theater I have seen in a few years.

  • If anyone knows where I can read the script online, let me know.

  • I haven't listened to this song since I saw it in August and I just got tears in my eyes.
