obviously some people don't have a clue as to how sewage is handled. that is not a sewage line. they're even close to that large. that's a storm drain and i would recommend not going down there anymore. its pretty dangerous. if a water main in the area breaks and they rout the water through that drain it could fill up in a matter of minutes and the surge could topple all the crap that is down there over. i doubt it would electrocute anyone but its still a dumbass idea to be down there

It is not really black water from what I can tell. As for the potential of toxic gasses, that's still a concern.

You are correct, this was built to handle the runoff from the hillside, it was built to protect the property once owned by ANSCO, GAF and Anitec. ALL of these companies pumped TONS of toxic chemicals through that pipe over the years, it is a huge toxic waste site, I would use caution down there. Do a web search for Anitec cleanup and you'll see what I am talking about...

Putting the lights down there was a thing for photo effect...it was done carefully, and nothing happened. Yeah,..there is always water. It's a small stream they buried in the 1920's. Old maps show the stream, and then Bang, it's gone. It runs under a fabulous gothic old cemetery from the 1850's.

there is no shit in it. It's a natural brook that used to flood people's back yards..so they imprisoned it over 80 years ago. It goes directly through the middle of an ancient cemetery. The farther you go the better...it is made of wonderful stonework on the other side of the cemetery.
