Absolutely! Very usable at f/2.8, tack sharp beyond that. I also find that mine is sharpest towards the 50mm end. Defnitely worthwhile! But, if you don't absolutely need constant f/2.8 throughout, the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 is another potential option. Similar performance, slightly cheaper, and more focal range.
I think I ll go with the Tamron. The sigma is only 21$ cheaper at BH.I was also considered the Carl Zeiss 16-80, but its a lot more expensive! ( yes I'm a sony alpha user too;)... very nice pictures on you flickr, continue like that!
just wondering if same set up would work on a sony a450 as i am waiting for the new a77 to come out so no point buying an a700

Thanks for posting your video!! I ll try some of your setups. Do you recomend the tamron 17-50 f2.8 in term of sharpness?
