  • USAC had the new "speedway" Silver Crown cars that debuted about 5 years ago that had bigger bumpers, but they don't run them anymore. The traditional Silver Crown car that you see in this video is what is running on the tracks now as Silver Crown cars. They just finished racing at ORP in Indianapolis, IN. We will also be running our dirt Silver Crown car in a few weeks at Springfield, IL and DuQuoin, IL on the 1-mile track, and possibly at Terre Haute, IN in October.

  • i seen this exact same crash from a differant angle!

  • hes trying to get out before it stopps lol

  • Most promoters do not want to spend the extra money to keep the drivers safe. The sad part is if it were not for the drivers the promoter would not have a show!

  • this man is come out from the hells pass!!

  • Okay, just to clarify, Johnny's car broke, he lost control . The spotters were in radio communications with Tracy's team, but he didn't listen to them and tried to get up around him on the outside. This was the first time in the history of open wheel racing that the fuel bladder broke and started a fire like that. I don't blame Mr. Hines for his hip holding reaction, as he was also burned, and probably confused. My uncle Johnny is probably one of the finest racing drivers of all time!

  • The first time in open wheel history? Uhhhh.

  • What do you mean the first time in history that an open wheel broke a bladder and caught fire. I have been racing since I was 13 in Australia and I have smashed a bladder 3 times which has caught fire. Broken bladder & spark = bang. Not that hard to work out. Also Donny Shatz crash he had at PCR in Australia....Ummmm Broken bladder, spark & fuel = FIRE. Ask your Uncle Johnny. lol

  • sry that comment was not mine probably my sister or cosuin

  • the firemen look really lazy!!!

  • AGAIN, You are a moron. I was there and the Fire Crew did an OUTSTANDING job putting the car, saving the driver and the fire in under a minute and half. Thank God there was a competent Track Rescue Crew there to put out the 52 GALLONS OF FUEL!

  • The guy who caught fire is a great guy who hopefully will race again..On the other end is one of the most cocky racers of all time tracy hines who has pissed away every opportunity he has had. He is a head case and a true jack ass in racing circles.. I would have tried to help heydenreich if he was on fire no matter how pissed i was.

  • "The guy who caught fire is a great guy who hopefully will race again..On the other end is one of the most cocky racers of all time"

YOU KINDA CONDRADICTED YOURSELF WITH THAT ONE

  • Ok let me fix that for you Heidenreich is a great guy who has raced again.. On the other end Tracy Hines has pissed away all his other opportunities.

  • i love how the guy in the black car flops out of the cockpit and on to the ground :P XD

  • its pretty sad that the firefighters dont even help the guy on fire when the frickin fuel is running on the driver who is on fire! retards!!!!!!

  • you must be blind. the first 2 firefighters immediatly start spewing the extinguisher on the driver, and then another guy pulls him out of the gas and assists him. one of the firefighters even stops spewing and helps the other guy pulling the driver out.

  • hahaz that guy with the black car wanted 2 fight but the other guy was already in 1 with the fire hahaz

  • the worst crash every

  • Silver Crown cars are the last vestage to the true Indy roadsters. Keep 'em going!

  • weakace0f854 is a spamer.

  • i got a question guys ok i dont know if u seen the other videos were the cars blow up and burn and get destroy and flyes in the sky burning and everything that happens on this kind of race what are the chances to get out of the car live when it stops rolling and everything.

  • They are heavy ;) Particularly on this kind of car (Silver crown) because they get a roll cage and a lot of stuff like that...

F1 and champ car to is really good to, security is tested to the death...

Nacars and WTCC/DTM... Well, not a lot of danger their (close wheel) and a good roll cage to...

What make me fear a lot more, it IRL...

  • Silver Crown cars are not heavy in comparison to other types of race cars. I have been involved in open wheel racing for many years racing Midgets and Sprint Cars. To answer trndhyi's question, these cars are extremely safe now. They have had 50+ years of development and are basically the same now as they were in the 40's except for the advances in safety.

  • I speech about the chance of getting alive after a crash: They're are "heavy" ;)

  • ca lui apprendra!!

  • wasted racing car

  • whats the first thing u do when ur on fire ... roll through oil, nice one

  • hahahahaha very funny

  • man he could of broke his neck getting out of it, then that would show that bastard to just "watch"

  • an honest guy i saw what happened and there was a stream of oil the guy wasn't on fire but he set other stuff on fire

  • lol the guy set everything else on fire

  • It is unbelievable to me that nobody is paying any attention to the driver of the burning blue car! At first the firefighters seem to be in awe of the fire

and don't even notice the driver struggling to escape the burning vehicle! And then to add insult to injury, the competitor makes a beeline to the

burning car, rests his arm against his hip and then proceeds to do absolutely nothing to help! What a MEOW!

  • AMEN!!!

  • You are a moron. I was there and the Fire Crew did an OUTSTANDING job putting the car, saving the driver and the fire in under a minute and half. Thank God there was a competent Track Rescue Crew there to put out the 52 GALLONS OF FUEL!

  • those cars cant hold that much fuel, their gas tanks aren't that big

  • Racerboy, these are the old Silver Crown Cars, they used to hold up to 70 Gallons, but these only had 50 in them.

  • I am the owner of the car. To clarify, Silver Crown cars have a 70-gallon fuel bladder and still do. The car is carrying less fuel at this track since it is only a 3/4 mile track. Silver Crown typically races 100 laps on 1 mile tracks (100 miles). On a smaller track such as this one (3/4 mile), we were still running a 100 lap race so we only had to run a total of 75 miles. Hence, we put less methanol (not gas as racerboy12345 seems to think) in the fuel bladder.
