THE RAMBOULLEIT AGREEMENT DEMANDED SERBIA TO ALLOW NATO TROOPS TO FREELY WALK WITHIN THE BORDERS OF ALL SERBIA, SERBIA REFUSED AND THEY GOT BOMBED. IF YOU KNOW HISTORY IN THE ULTIMATUM AUSTRIA HUNGARY DEVISED FOR SERBIA WAS THE SAME THING. THEY DEMANDED SERBIA TO ALLOW AUSTRIAN SOLDIERS TO WALK FREELY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AND FIND THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ASSASSINATION IN SARAJEVO. SERBIA REFUSED AND IT RESULTED IN WW1. MAKES YOU THINK, IT IS THE SAME DIRTY GAME
I find the debate very frustrating to watch. The question surely is: Would you support R2P being used to prevent the Rwandan genocide, yes or no? Forget about what the major powers want, or what they will do to maneouver things -- we know all about that. R2P, like any new institution (like the ICC which Chomsky supports?) will be opposed by retrograde powers and also, unfortunately by some on the left. To build new norms you need to have a principle (R2P) first to put the institution in place.
@jumpnjza2 With respect, he's not 'so French'. Firstly, because he's Belgian. Secondly because he's highly critical of post-modernism, a movement for which French pseud-philosophy can accept some responsability.
Its amazing that televised news will go for days talking about Micheal Jackson and you will never even hear these type of issues, it really is just a mode of distraction. I mean do i really care about Obama going out for beers when people are dying everywhere for Corporate greed?
