  • The money I spent on this game back in the day! Awesome memories!

  • I have fond memories of my brother and I playing this at the pool every Summer. Although as kids we really stuck (especially now when you look at how simple the really is) because rarely did we ever make it past the second stage and if we did we never made it far into stage 3

  • Conan ripoff?

  • Wow. Now that I saw the last boss....I don't think I ever finished it. Always ran out of friggin quarters. sad I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS!!

  • Man I'd give anything to play this game again! Ok, not anything. Actually I wouldn't give anything but I'd really like to play it again. (maybe a couple bucks) Takes me back to the 80's...it was RAD!

  • wow it looks so fluid

  • thanks man for posting that i love this game,i was growing up on that kind of games.Bring good memories.

  • Thanks:) Was difficult game, the timing was always a bit off for my taste.

  • *downloads NAME*

  • That final boss was a bit underwhelming wasn't it?

  • Oh MAN I have been trying to remember what this game is called and find it for YEARS!! I used to play this when i was in 2nd grade at a burger joint my dad would take me to. Brings me WAY back, thanks for the LP :)

  • I am so jealous...

  • Loved playing this in the arcade, but everytime I got to the part in the 2nd level about 9:03 into this video where you jump down and have to break the floor to go to the bottom level, the arcade game would suddenly stop and the title screen would appear. At that point you would have to start over.

This would only happen if I didn't break that floor immedianly. If I stayed on the upper floor, the game would crash. Anyone else have that trouble?

  • @DMoneySamurai Though that was just me.

  • got hit but no damage...

  • @ElectricAfroMan

Nope i wasnt hit, if you want to veerify it for yourself, go to our IRC chat and i send you the emulator movie file :)

  • @ 15:22 explain...

  • @ElectricAfroMan

    explain what?

  • @cubex55 Invencibility for sure ^^

  • @justjsuper

Its called Re-Recording - look it up on wikipedia

There was no cheating involved :)

  • Well played :)

  • I own this ARCADE GAME. The actual things you see in arcades or pizzerias!!!

  • wow, this has wicked music!

  • Man this is awesome game!

I love to play this in time to time. I was lucky to find the Taito Legends collection wich has this game & other classics.

Go Rastan! Go & kill those evil creatures with your father's sword!

  • I fed this game quite a few of my coins when I was a kid... and now I see I wasn't even close to finishing it :(

  • i love the epic castle music, wish they had more platformers like this in the arcades, nowadays its just racing shooting or dancing games for the most part

  • Okay, those last two bosses were a fucking JOKE!!!

  • great game

  • Fucking Rastan never gets cold!!!

  • I remember playing this in downtown Los Angeles.... man it was such a great game for its day. Does anyone know if this was released in a compilation (any console)? I suppose I'll just have to get the rom.

  • @zenmart Yes. It was released for the PS2, Xbox, and PC on the Taito Legends compilation Vol. 1.

  • @yournotjohn Cool thanks for the info!

  • @yournotjohn CooI, found it on amazon.... there are actually a lot of other good games in the compilation as well. Thanks for the info! I didn't know about this one.

  • @zenmart Sweet!! Enjoy it. It's a great comp! Vol. 2 is also out.

  • Damn this takes me back. I remember pumping tons of my dad's quarters into this game. Thanks for the upload.

  • Rastan...the only man who may stand a chance against Chuck Norris...

  • Rastan is the king among men... Al Bundy watch your seat...

  • I used to play this game everyday after school at the pool hall. They used to have the volume turned up so LOUD!!. This music is infectious!!

  • didnt know why they thought it was a good idea to not have a no continues once you get a game over, hated that

  • You are not allowed to use continues if you run out of lives at any point in Round 6; I guess that's why the final boss is not as difficult to beat as you'd expect.

  • Nice job. I remember playing this game in arcades and not even being able to get past the first stage.

  • LOL"You are a brave warrior to have cleared such a difficult level! " sounds like : " damn ! i dont thought that u pass this stage. Now ur ass get kicked to ur dead , ur fucking noob!!!! " i think they made it so hard because they want only the money of the kids to get easy money. But ScHlAuChi kicked the game right in the balls and beat it without problems! =D Hail ScHlAuChi !!! ^^

  • This is Genius!

  • Taito at their best in the mid-to-late '80s. I remember being in a junior bowling league and seeing this game tucked in the corner of the building...it got a lot of action. I'm terrible at it -- I have trouble finishing one area, never mind one stage, but it's playable, challenging, and oh yeah, the music is pretty good, too.

This game is also on the first Taito Legends collection, a disc I still have. Watching this makes me want to fire it up right now.

  • What does the rod ?

  • Man, I love the music.

  • You are a brave warrior to have cleared such a difficult level!

  • Side scrolling Conan?!

  • CROM!

  • That last boss was a tad anti-climatic :D

  • @kkbigal I thought the same thing. Was like.....and thats it, wtf?! lol

  • Funny, I was just playing this on the Master System yesterday. Not a very good conversion. See you've got that, too. I've also played the C64 version although that is glitchy and just impossible to get through.

ScHIAuChi must be a genius for getting through this without a scratch!

I tried it on the MAME emulator a while back and only completed it after getting killed about a hundred times LOL

You only have limited continues, too, so you can't afford to die too much.

  • @wandererlain

Thanks to Re-Recording everyone can be such a genius ;)

  • @cubex55 Re-Recording or not, Dude knows that game VERY well. Dont matter if its flawless or know. He can do it on 1 coin and thats it. Great vid, mucharespect!

  • @wandererlain I love the Master System version XD

  • @wandererlain Actually, you have unlimited continues on stages 1-5. There are NO continues on stage 6 -- you must finish on one quarter or it's game over.

One reason why, if you were not a good player back then, it was wise to deliberately kill yourself off facing the boss on stage 5, so you could start stage 6 with full lives.

  • RASTAFARI!

  • @JackiePaquito RAS-CLART! BLUUD-CLART! LOL

  • wow the arcade version has a lot more enemies than the zx spectrum version :P

  • Cool music, although the main theme begins to annoy me after a while.

  • wow great game and you play it awesomely well

  • Ah, one of my favorite series. Not because it's such an awesome game in total, but because of many of the little details, like the crazy music.

  • Rosie O'Donnell-manly, as Screwattack would say :D

  • Square Enix needs to remake this series. (FYI, they own Taito these days)

  • What the hell sort of end boss was that?!

  • Rastan in particular really takes me back to the arcades as a kid growing up in the 80's. Thanks for this!

  • You can already tell that Conan the Barbarian was the inspiration for Rastan Saga
