@420stamper This only fixes the tray eject problem. If it can't read, I suggest you clean the lens with a Q-tip that's slightly moist with alcohol first. If that doesn't work, the problem is beyond what I can give advice for.
Good vid...however you should have told people not to plug up an optical drive with the cover off since the laser will damage your eyes. Im sure there are plenty of novices trying to salvage a drive that do not know this.
Man, a cure... this is not. and after you can make a clip on how to fix a spent drive motor. Im just gonna bite my nails, wait till the end of the month and try to muster up the cash and go get an actual drive belt. i hope theres a computer shop out there somewheres.
Well... That mostly just saved my DVD player. Actually, it's not so much that the tray wouldn't come out as that it wouldn't go back in (it was kinda skewed, but I couldn't tell which side was too high/low). This gave me the confidence to take it apart, fix it, and put it back together. Only now it won't turn on at all. :(
@ClubGuiatarHero laptop drives should have the hole too but if a laptop dvd drive wont eject thats a whole diff kettle of fish as they dont use that they pop release rather than motorised tray (for reduced size) however replacement laptop drives arnt bad price wise
How can I fix my CD drive? When I used the "paper clip solution", the tray opened so little and it still stucked! I don't know what to do. The Drive is a built-in in my ACEr ASPIRE 4736Z model, I don't know what to do... help please anyone?
The magnet upon the tray just stuck to hard, I cant eject the tray. Then when i fix the problem, I insert a CD, and it sound like they're sawing wood in it and i have to eject it immediately!
I just fixed mine by applying some sort of "no slip" belt fluid that I got at Radio Shack a long time ago. I applied it with a Q-tip through the front opening (drawer open). I don't know how long it will last, but if I need to replace the belt, I don't see any reason to open up the drive. It looks like it can be easily replaced using a tool fashioned from a bent paperclip (a hook bent on the end), working through the open front.
Most DVD players have the same mechanism to eject the tray, but you'll never know until you open them up. Some use a cork screw to open and close the drawer.
@guytechie Hey - good tube! I found that a small "O" ring worked perfectly once I stretched it a little. These are available in lots of different sizes. Thanx :)
thanks so much!

just make grooves in the pulleys with a knife or thin screwdriver that this creates adhesion and no need to replace the belt.
basta fazer estrias nas duas polias com um estilete ou chave de fenda fina que isto cria aderência e não precisa trocar a correia.

No need to find a new rubber band.
You can shrink the old rubber band by using a hair dryer to blow hot air on it.
100% working guaranteed
