  • fuck alan garcia!!!

  • Alan garcia like it or not is doing a better job as president than any other Peruvian president in history. So you would honestly want Humala or Fujimori as president over Alan???

  • Humala!

  • The police massacred the Indians who were standing up for their rights and preventing police take over of their resources. 40 were killed. After the massacre policemen were kidnapped and 20 of them were murdered. These are the facts.

  • Unfortunatly those are most likely wrong facts. Put yourself in the policemans shoes... look at the actualy videos of the incident... you will see a MOB of THOUSANDS of native indians surrounding a group of no more than 50 policemen.. and yes I agree with you police were armed with rifles, the natives were not... but they outnumbered police... they had bows, rocks, and sticks... police barricaded themselves inside and were chased by the mob. They killed in self defense and then got murdered.

  • Early Friday morning 600 armed police attacked 1,000 demonstrators who were blocking the main road in Bagua. Those are the facts. That's how it began. "La Republica" reported the situation as it happened.. If you're basing yourself on edited footage of the Peruvian mass media then obviously you're getting a ridiculously distorted view of the situation. Look at videos of the incident? You mean things edited &selected by the capitalist media? As opposed to near universal reports from the scene?

  • ok... I agree with those facts... my rationale though is that those natives should not have been blocking the roads... blocking progress, blocking trade, blocking commerce, blocking paying passengers traveling... they should have been either home or if they wanted to protest then maybe gather in the main square or plaza and do a PEACEFUL demostration.... blocking roads is ILLEGAL and is not peaceful... I would have sent the entire army to clear the roads, given 3 warnings, then fired.

  • I see. Now you've gone from denying the crime to supporting mass murder. Civil disobedience is peaceful. They have the right to do what is necessary to protect their land. The opening up of the Amazon will benefit only foreign capital and Perus oligarchy. Garcia is trying to steal the land's resources illegally. On June 4, APRA congressmen arrived at Congress early in the morning gaining a quorum & voting to postpone debate on the Forest and Wildlife Law BEFORE the opposition parties were even

  • present. This was a disgraceful and undemocratic way or preventing opposition. Progress? How is exploiting Indian land - without the consent of the inhabitants - progress? It will not benefit Peruvians but a small oligarchy & foreign translations, just like happened in Mexico after NAFTA. You're suggesting the Indians should have just given in & if they didn't that would justify their massacre. You seem hurt by the deaths on the police but not of the Indians who were massacred first.

  • It is progress.... and heres why. City of Ilo, Peru... SPCC COPPER huge Mining company gives more than 500 million in taxes to Peru yearly. Pays for education all over peru, not only South Peru. Second example, BARRICK GOLD in Central Peru gives more than 800 million in taxes to Peru yearly, pays for bridges and roads THROUGHOUT Peru. This oil complex in the Amazon would also benefit ALL of Peru. These Indians do not own that land, they only own their homes and vicinity, not the entire Amazon.

  • You say they have "THE RIGHT TO PROTECT THEIR LAND".... well nobody wants to tear their house down.... Peru just wants to allow companies to drill... drilling is progress, the U.S. drills in native land, alaska, florida, california, EVERYWHERE. People are educated here and understand it is necesarry for development. Blocking an intestate road is illegal anyway, this happened last year in moquegua, south peru. People died. Theres better ways to protest than block a road and risk your life.

  • How are protests in the U.S?? Gays march the streets peacefully, Latinos gather in downtown Los Angeles and hold a rally, Native Indians lobbied and now control most U.S. Casinos.... how do they protest in Peru? BLock the ONLY roads and access that connect cities, burn tires, riot, cause pandemonium, take children to the riot, kidnap 20 police officers, etc. These people simply have no education and dont know better, I just wish someone would make them undertand that drilling means jobs 4 them.

  • Uh.. how do people protest in the US? You are aware of the civil rights movement, aren't you? Do you think people just carried signs? They entered private businesses that discriminated and refused to go when told to. You have no education, you moron. What part of only benefiting a small Peruvian oligarchy & foreign translations do you not understand? What about Mexico & NAFTA do you not understand? Do you know HOW the exploitation of the Amazon will destroy the indigenous community?

  • You are an ignorant racist and justifier of mass murder. Again and again you refused to even ACKNOWLEDGE the massacre of the Indians and only care about the murderers. You refuse to recognize the undemocratic fashion in which the Peruvian state has stifled debate on this issue. You can just repeat the ridiculous lies about "progress" and then slander the private Indian people fighting in the interests of the entire Peruvian working class. You're an ignorant, sick fuck.

  • Your comments sound like they belong and support Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, and the dictatorship crowd.... I am a democrat and I believe in Progress for natives and non-natives alike. Unfortunatly the Amazon belongs to ALL peruvians, not only the natives.... my ancestors are Spanish and Italian... we do not own Spain and Italy, we only own our home. Those Native Indians own their pieces of land and homes, NOT THE AMAZON. They are disrupting the growth of Peru, they want to live in huts 4ever?

  • you and your like are primitive ignorant scum that know nothing of civilized living.

  • My posture is the same as the President of Peru, All of the ministers, the President of the United Nations South American Development, same opinion as the Harvard President, same opinion given by the Obama Administration, same posture that any sane person would follow. Those natives need to recap and think of better ways to protest... for now they are simply murderers... they murdered and butchered innocent police officers! What part of MURDER cant you grasp??

  • Peru has grown at a steady pace of 2%-8% per MONTH!! Under Alan Garcia! I am not his biggest fan, but nobody can deny that he is Helping Peru... he would never murder innocent Natives, the natives resisted and confronted police... everyone lost.. . both sides lost lifes.... but according to people like you natives are correct... whats next? Revolt and throw out the peruvian government so Pery can become a SHitty nation like Venezula, Cuba, Bolivia, or Guatemala???

  • first let me say that i'm sure you're a nice person and that my comment was more to your ignorant mindset on this matter, a mindset that for 500 yrs has led to the killing and suffering of countless millions and the destruction of whole cultures and ecosystems.

in short, a primitive mindset that is akin to the selfish shortsighted whining and bullying of a spoiled rotten fat child who would hoard food and everything to the dismay and horror of his parents and at the expense of his siblings.

  • WOW.....terrible

    SHARED!!

  • And thank you CNN for this news break
