my mother was 16 when she was pregnant with me. she gave birth at 17. she was poor as can be. my father was a heavy drug user at the time. she was scared alone and didnt know what she could do to raise me. but she tried. and she raised me. i lived in a shit whole while my mom worked crap jobs and fed me and got me to school. i lived in the hood. i was one of a few white kids on the block. being white in the hood was way more dangerous then today. i am an example of what a single mother can do.

I understand that you're presenting a story but your assumptions sound like ultimates. Say the mother did finish highschool and she did get a good job to support her child. You're assuming that she automatically won't. Should we take away another person's life based upon what if's? Based upon chance? When we really don't know the outcome of the future? Because what if she DOES graduate and what if she DOES get a good job. Then what you said doesn't really matter.
Still doesn't make any sense to me. You're assuming too much. If you want to automatically assume the future for a child is bad, abortion does sound good, but since we can't predict the future (and don't, in this scenario, know whether or not the mother will graduate and get a good job) we shouldn't sacrifice a life based upon those assumptions. We should rely on definite not assumption.
Should we decide whether or not a person gets to live based upon whether people want them alive? If you'd like to use that logic I could simply kill you right now and say I don't want you alive for whatever reason. It's a sad realization that a child only gets to live when it's wanted, rather, all human life should have the right to life, liberty, and happiness regardless of whether it's wanted.
I just want to post on this topic. I was raped last year and I ended up getting pregnant with twins. I was upset because I sinned and had sex before marriage even though I was forced. I also didn't know how to tell my family that I was pregnant. I still haven't said anything to them. My mother asked me if I was and I just ignored it and shrugged it off. Anyways, even though the father of my twins is a rapist, I will still always love them no matter what.
However, I miscarried at 16 weeks. And now I think I did something wrong to cause it. But... I also think that because I prepared myself even though I was only 19 years old, in college, GOD took that burden off of me and he'll bring them both back to me in the future when I get married.

Daddy always seemed to know best, but that time he didnt. Now my oldest is almost 9 - her and her sister (along with my husband) are the best things that have ever happened to me. Daddy now even regrets he ever asked me to do such a thing and says he is very proud of me for not listening to him.

Hey Jessica, I was 2 1/2 months pregnant when I had an abortion in 1993, and I really had no idea I was 'killing' a human being, I believed what I was being told by my doctor and other 'advisors'. Although I now disagree with abortion and know this is a money making industry, I do beleive there are clueless girls/women (like I was) that we need to be understanding and supportive of and help through the decision process and help them without condemning them.
I definitely agree. My mom was faced with a situation that most people pushed her to have an abortion (this is part two, it'll be more understanding in the second half!) I hope that this video doesn't condem, but convicts those that need to be convicted (not you of course :)). Those that are thinking about having an abortion, or who have never had one but believe that it is merely throwing out a "blob of cells". Give the baby a chance to live. This is a free country, this baby has a life. You can see that by each and every heartbeat.
I cannot possibly understand putting yourself above a weak, defenseless baby.
Your baby is apart of you. Unless the baby is causing both harm to itself and the mother, I see no reason of why we should "terminate" the baby.

my mother was 16 when she was pregnant with me. she gave birth at 17. she was poor as can be. my father was a heavy drug user at the time. she was scared alone and didnt know what she could do to raise me. but she tried. and she raised me. i lived in a shit whole while my mom worked crap jobs and fed me and got me to school. i lived in the hood. i was one of a few white kids on the block. being white in the hood was way more dangerous then today. i am an example of what a single mother can do.

I know it's scary but just think about when your baby smiles at you for the first time. I hate the word abortion.....I had to 'abort' my precious baby at 10 weeks..s/he was not in my uterus but just inside my fallopian tube, where nature had allowed the ovum and sperm to meet. I was devastated. This precious life was stuck...would die anyway.....or I would...The day I went for the termination there was a protest for Right To LIfe going on out the front of the building....I always celebrate the day my baby would have been born. The whole deal is not as moralistic as one thinks!

It's the same as if I stole something and someone else was sent to jail for it. The child is just as much a victim in the case of rape as the mother is. i'm sure if we performed late-term abortions on cats, PETA would be all in fritz. Thank you, but i think we need to get to the root of the issue instead of skirting on merely the subjects or the symptoms. Pro-birth control is good, but that isn't going to solve the problem as to why people think it is morally okay to perform abortions in the first place.

yeah, pregnancy after a rape is a very rare thing because of the fact that just the emotional and physical exhaustion that your body goes through, it flips into survival mode and your immune system goes into flight or fight after and during, and because of that the hormones that are produced, the body is focused on that rather than getting ready to start conception.

no and the only reaon i CAN say that is cause i have been in that spot before i was raped when i was 16 and i said it then and i say it now a baby is a baby nomatter if love brought it here or rape!! People seem to think that they cant give that child to a family who cant have kids and would love to take it from you then to see u murder it......

ok so lets just say for instance that you are a young girl (15 ish). you are out walking somewhere and a man rapes you. -5 months later you find that you are pregnant. you arent going to be able to finish highschool with a kid in tow and you arent going to be able to get a good job and since the dirtbag that raped you isnt going to pay child support, you are going to have to suport a child. then wouldnt you get an abortion and get on with your life?

I understand that you're presenting a story but your assumptions sound like ultimates. Say the mother did finish highschool and she did get a good job to support her child. You're assuming that she automatically won't. Should we take away another person's life based upon what if's? Based upon chance? When we really don't know the outcome of the future? Because what if she DOES graduate and what if she DOES get a good job. Then what you said doesn't really matter.

Still doesn't make any sense to me. You're assuming too much. If you want to automatically assume the future for a child is bad, abortion does sound good, but since we can't predict the future (and don't, in this scenario, know whether or not the mother will graduate and get a good job) we shouldn't sacrifice a life based upon those assumptions. We should rely on definite not assumption.

Should we decide whether or not a person gets to live based upon whether people want them alive? If you'd like to use that logic I could simply kill you right now and say I don't want you alive for whatever reason. It's a sad realization that a child only gets to live when it's wanted, rather, all human life should have the right to life, liberty, and happiness regardless of whether it's wanted.

I just want to post on this topic. I was raped last year and I ended up getting pregnant with twins. I was upset because I sinned and had sex before marriage even though I was forced. I also didn't know how to tell my family that I was pregnant. I still haven't said anything to them. My mother asked me if I was and I just ignored it and shrugged it off. Anyways, even though the father of my twins is a rapist, I will still always love them no matter what.

However, I miscarried at 16 weeks. And now I think I did something wrong to cause it. But... I also think that because I prepared myself even though I was only 19 years old, in college, GOD took that burden off of me and he'll bring them both back to me in the future when I get married.

I know that I can still live knowing that my babies are in Heaven...The best place any can be. And I know that i'll see them again...And I know that when I do see them, they'll thank me for not killing them and at least trying to give them the best life I could give.

Hey Jessica :) I don't believe in abortion either. When I got pregnant with my first child, since I was 19, Daddy (George) wanted me to get an abortion, and I refused. Daddy always seemed to know best, but that time he didnt. Now my oldest is almost 9 - her and her sister (along with my husband) are the best things that have ever happened to me. Daddy now even regrets he ever asked me to do such a thing and says he is very proud of me for not listening to him.

No, I don't still go to Prospect, but my parents do. The husband, kids, and I moved out to North Carolina in September of 07 - back to the town where I am originally from. Its county out here, and I really love it. :)

Hey Jessica, I was 2 1/2 months pregnant when I had an abortion in 1993, and I really had no idea I was 'killing' a human being, I believed what I was being told by my doctor and other 'advisors'. Although I now disagree with abortion and know this is a money making industry, I do beleive there are clueless girls/women (like I was) that we need to be understanding and supportive of and help through the decision process and help them without condemning them.

I definitely agree. My mom was faced with a situation that most people pushed her to have an abortion (this is part two, it'll be more understanding in the second half!) I hope that this video doesn't condem, but convicts those that need to be convicted (not you of course :)). Those that are thinking about having an abortion, or who have never had one but believe that it is merely throwing out a "blob of cells".
