  • who's the fool ass that dislike this? how could they?

  • Love her. Her and lauryn hill could make a masterpiece together. I love musical minds

    .

  • saw her last night at the Highline Ballroom. she's phenomenal and underrated. she's conscious and deep. can't wait until the new album comes out.

  • Great song. To bad we are stuck listening to rhitard and others like sicki garbaj.

  • she is live and slept on.. she goes in on this here..

  • How does this even have 10 dislikes? Do they not have ears?

  • Amazing, such a sunset love making scene

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO UNDERRATED MOOD NOT FAIR

  • I can't stop listening to this!! Fierce, beautiful, and delicate vocals!

  • True that unique543, hopefully people in power will recognize that before this type of music will become a dying breed.

  • Amel creates a mood and feeling in this track that is simply beautiful. x

  • I love this song...

  • Amels music will always be fresh and clean

  • Truly a refreshing melody. Her music is so underrated. A timeless piece of sighing....just wonderful.

  • @Millionairess420 I love that... A timeless piece of sighing.... her music has so much sensitivity and integrity.

  • Love the message in this song....be careful what you wish for....it just may not be all that it's cracked up to be.....

  • Amel is definitely one of my favorite vocalists of all time.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • @Uniques543

    Amend to that radio poison

  • All man I finally found this jam! I swear hearing her sing this song reminds me of a cut from Angela Bofil like in 79' or 80'.She must 've went back in time for this 1.Her voice is innocent sounding.I can also hear minnie Riperton in her too.

  • I absolutely love this song and this artist.

  • THIS SONG IS UNBELIEVABLE!! "the big fish have a monopoly, while the little fish get buried in the sand"....WOW! In other words, the middle class and poor people suffer, while evil rich people get by just fine!! God,can I please come up for air....sad....

  • Dang, she is cold!!!!!

  • @1BLKnUSA

    nope she's hot

    LOL

  • Love this song soooo much but I didn't know the title,I'm so glad that I finally found it.Thanks so much for posting. She's one of my most favorite female singers.

  • who are the seven people that didn't enjoy this?!!?!?!

  • People like Amel are so rare.. i put her up there with Sade

  • Really???? 7 people didn't like this????? CRAZY

  • @TTYumYum can't believe 7 people didnt like it. this is one of the best songs sung and written today! WTF plain dumb people just don't get it but I do. Amel is a beauty even in person.

  • @savannahdane ESPECIALLY in person!

  • I have to hold my hands up..........this is the first time i've heard of this lady...........but it wont be the last. she sounds beautiful. and what a track!

  • @francgmaj yeah she's a great artist...definitely check out more of her stuff. she used to b with a group called Groove Theory in the early 90s

  • Groovy and so dearly souly....

  • <3 her

  • <3 her

  • As you can clearly tell by "someone's" comment above that people try there hardest to get attention. If you thought it was that boring why waste your time listening...no better yet even commenting. I see YOU aren't making music and if your were it's nowhere near good as Amel's music or you'd have a name for yourself.

  • she is so beautiful and blessed with an amazing voice !

  • wow this song is to slow

  • shes amazing. but am i the only one who can hear the lisp? from @3:09 and on especially... "hypnotized" "missth the sthweet thaste of oxygen" "i misthook this"

ive listened to this song a million times and never noticed it until now...

  • @bosniancristianorona Thanks for your input. Now you can move on.

  • @bosniancristianorona yea thx you can go now.

  • @bosniancristianorona if u didnt like it there wuz no need for commenting on it, that would be wasting ur time and wasting the time of the people who are reading ur comment, this song is not boring at all if u dont like a jazzy kind of music then yea maybe to u its boring but not to the people that are into this sort of music

  • @bosniancristianorona wowzers! it's like impossile to say that this song is boring. i am in complete LOVE with this song and all the others ones from this CD! I agree with the other ppl when they say "YOU CAN LEAVE NOW!!!" <33

  • May her music live forever.

  • i love this chick

  • Can I can up.... her songs just moves me!!!

  • this song is so pure and real! (not uncommon with someone of Amel's stature and musical ability)...fiyah!!

  • ahhhh dadadadaaaa--loove Amel. I looked at my reflection in the water... thought what an unlikely pair...

  • this is my all time favorite from Amel..I was just thinking the other day why isn't this woman not given more props from the record industry.. I take her over Beyonce any day..

  • Fine listening..Love her delivery...her style..She is all that!

  • this is music for the soul !

  • @zuluboi305 I couldn't not have said it better myself! This song like all her material feeds the soul with each listen. Her music, lyrics are, to me, timeless. She is such an amazing artist! Amel I'm so glad to have been introduced to you in the 90's and that you are still around today to make your music to share with the world.

  • this song is so beautiful. i love me some amel.

  • YES!- on my iPod - I play it alot! The singing great, the lyrics r thought provoking! The grooves like a combo of Neo-Soul & Smooth Jazz & I love both genres. Too much of todays music is too blantantly sexual - not an ounce of subtlety, no imagination or anything left to the imagination - today's music is like a how to (or what I did, what I'm gonna do, etc) on sexual stuff. And I absolutely hate that the really young kids hear the stuff everywhere and know the lyrics to the songs and raps!

  • This is such a good instru!!!! very rare for me to bump into such good things in hip hop these days....

  • I don't thonk I've heard of this woman before. but I love her already! Sade, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, & Anita Baker....now Amel are my favorite soulful intelligent women in the world...Such a wonderful song and lovely voice!

  • that bass line is sick

  • soo smooth n melodic..beautiful

  • Her voice is Orgasmic to my ears yo!!!!!!!

  • She has a wonderful fresh sound. I like her music.

  • .......Now Entering *Vibe Mode*

  • She is amazing and so gorgeous, such a beautiful, lyrical, intense yet soft voice.she carries her self with such dignity and respect. Love her. They dont make them like that anymore.

  • Classic Amel

I have "Infinite Possiblilties", "Bravebird" and "Morning".......please let me know if I missed any of her solo cd's....there are songs on youtube that I'm not familiar with. I'm thinking there may be an album I don't have of hers.

  • @Shaolin325 Lovely Standards is really good as well. That was her last album.

  • OH MY I GOT SOMETHING ELSE OUT OF THIS SONG

  • Amel is the next best thing to Sade. A real class act. I love this song. Can I come up for air? "Gills and Tails" ranks amongst her best along with "Sweet Misery" remix and "For Real" and of course the whole Groove Theory album.

  • Amazing!!!

  • She must love just being on her own label. She's beautiful and for real in her lyrics and music. I Love her style too! I'll buy tickets to see her live!

  • luv this cjick so much!!!!!!11

  • we in los angeles are fools, she is underrated, we are stuck wit that auto tune bad breath lil wayne bullshit

  • Its a shame she is so underrated. I love her.

  • This song is so beautiful, but it's so sad bcuz it's true! If you ain't rich in this world, you're considered a little fish! When can the working class come up for air? God help us!

  • She is doing on her how, with her own label. If she signed up with a large company, she'd get more radio play. It's the industry. she's trying to do it all without selling herself out, but she's selling herself short. Just my two cents. She's beautiful, smart, and has great music.

  • If Amel's being over-looked by Hollywood, that may not be such a bad thing. I would rather hear her music and see her image in pure form, not tainted by the bullcrap hollywood forces out on cookie sheets. Amel stays true to her calling and art form by never compromising. I love her music and it's good to know artist like herself have survived throughout several years. I have been a fan of hers since Groove Theory and Infinite Possibillities. Thanks for spreading the news about her music.

  • I've been loving this soultry voice since 94...I feel inlove with the Infinite Possibilities album and knew that her sound was rare...So I say all of this to say, We as real artist have to give people what they want and sometimes being independent is what it takes or Underground as we call it....The mainstream media is a bunch of hype and all about what's in 4 the moment...True Music never dies even tho they try to hide it....

  • you all know why we don't see her ... because she has a loving family and actually wears feminine clothing without revealing everything and shes smart, oh no she will not be on any radio station unless she's wearing panties and stilettos.

  • @iwarpath143 HUH

  • Beautiful.

  • Love this song! Love it's mellow groove, and her vocals. They mesh together so well:)

  • I swear I love this song...

  • @Fufu84 I cosign on that thought!

  • @Fufu84 I cosign on that thought

  • Truly a very talented artist and a profound sound writer

  • One of the most beautifully orchestrated songs I have ever heard.

  • I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this song it is incredible and so true...... we are so blinded by the things of the world thinking that this is it but it's not..

  • I stay far away from them Cajun girls...nothing but trouble. jk..Amel is the shizznit.

  • I love this song! Very sensual!

  • i love her!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah - this takes you to another place - somewhere where negative energy is terminated on site. Loving this.

  • Love Amel to death.

  • To me, she has a great career. I mean, she probably rarely gets recognized in public but those who know her music know how good she is. Fuck the fame.

  • @Sensaye25, absolutely agree.

  • @Sensaye25

    true

  • @Sensaye25 You definitely need to see her in concert...awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • pretty mellow. she needs to collab with sweetback again. still very nice though.

  • Damn i haven't felt like that in years!

  • I've heard of her but i had to refresh my self and yes it was refreshing indeed

  • refreshing!

  • ...shes like a female version of d'angelo

  • Oh I've never heard her... she's what's up!

  • i love her .. i wish more people would give her the credit she truly earned... real talent

  • She's makes the statement "best kept secret" so true...

  • "Can I come up, can I come up for air"

  • Str8 fine...and love her seductive voice

  • love this, first time ever heard it

  • How can anybody not like her?

  • for some strange reason I'm so happy she's not as big as Beyonce or Mariah, she like a perfect secret to her fans, I put my ex up on her and she was who's this..I'm like exactly.!!!

  • I love how much amel fans love her!!

  • one of my favorites

  • This is beautiful.

  • mmhhhmmm baby girl is fineee

  • She brings you into

a perfect state of being...positive energy.

  • I've loved Amel Larrieux since groove theory

  • Meee too!!! I've hipped alot of people to her sound, and the funny thing is, they have NEVER heard of her!! She's different and that's what I love about her. She's also very poetic and it's music you need to LISTEN to in order to completely understand.

  • THis is the first song I heard from her Has a nice beat to go with the lyrics

  • Without fail, every time I listen to this song I cry. It touches me so deep. To me this song is about Amel's disillusionment with the music industry. Trying to fit in to an arena that wants to change you and mute your individuality. Then you discover that trying to conform is slowly killing you. Love love love this song

  • yeah SoulFULL poetry

    thank Amel

  • shes a beauty man hope to hear and see more of her !

  • LOVE THIS SONG.

  • THIS NICE

  • Pretty song-never heard it b4 now, but nice

  • it doesnt matter how old i am..or if this is grown folks music..its just right for me n im only 17..i love it with a passion she is my idol!!!

  • love her...

  • nice and slow music makes my soul happy

  • I swear to god I don't know what the hell she signing about. But the music sounds so good but the lyrics are hard to understand. The only thing I can make out is she that is looking at her reflection in the water and she needs to come up for air. Can someone help me out here. what is she singing about?

  • i think shes singing about being in a cold and/or competitive enviroment, like working in corporate america or just living in the city, and not being really used to it or built for it. like being somewhere where you are out of your element

  • sounds like she's stuck somewhere that she doesnt fit in. at first she thought itd b good, but it didnt turn out that way

  • OK Ledisi was raving this song in one of her tweets so I rushed over to Tube it. This is good ole fashioned grown folks' music. The metaphors are so powerful.

    Outstanding!

  • please tell me wut this song means. i love it, but dont get it's meaning

  • she's saying the real world is too rough for her, she's too soft. she wants to live around real people with real ambitions to work together and help each other, not greedy selfish people just trying to fight with her for everything. thats why she's talking about big fish vs little fish, her skin is growing scales (she cant be soft around other people)

she feels like she is trapped underwater, meaning she needs the help of others to get out of this situation and get back to the life she wants.

  • deep...

  • HAH! grown folks songs??/ mannn i lovee this woman and i 16- :P i got love for this sheeeeit too ahehehe ... BUT i do agree with you this Grown Folks stuff aha

  • jesus christ the sound quality

  • Okay I'm mad because today was the first day I heard this song and I love AMEL. Rmember Keep Trying? My ALL time fav rite there! :)

  • If you like her stuff buy her music ... it is good.

    @

  • love all her songs. thanks so much!!

  • i have been listening to this on repeat for about 3 days!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL, thats it!!!! She has it all, the voice, the talent and the looks. The world does not appreciate what is true and what is real. They wud rather listen to people who cant sing to save their lives.

  • She is so talented with a beautiful voice. She has her own style and is very unique she's better than Mariah to me. I think that part of the reason why she isnt so popular is due to the fact that she is so unique. The radio dosent play her songs to death which keeps them fresh and not played out.

  • amel is real talent and hollywood sometimes does not except artists (women ) who morally wont lay on a couch for a star on the boulevard .. thought. so we have to search for the real who dont pay to play radio..radiating ..radiation.killin generations with non sense.

  • The wise people in the world will never be put in front of our face to understand. Amel has been out for a min. n she still isn't where she should be.

Look at the "popular R&B" and look at Amels music. Now tell me why is she not at the top.

    Lol not Surprising.

  • Brilliant comment. I guess that nowadays you really have to search for good music. It's out there, I can attest. Again, great comment. That's real right there :)

  • Thank you and yea it's out there :)

  • go ahead and preach...i'll testify

  • @unique543 Very few people get it. Actually I like Amel being obscure. That way I don't have to share her with the rest of the world. Hidded treasure. Fuck commercialism!

  • @Wnunubian For real!

  • @Wnunubian Loving your comment, because i feel the same exact way...

it still sucks that she along w/so many great artists are not acknowledged the way that they are suppose to be. She along w/Jill and Erykah are such beautiful song writers.

  • @manwomanboogie There are those those who entertain (The wannabe triple threats-sing, dance, act). There are those who are studio artist (altered voices)Then there are the Stylist...Most can't handle their message. Example: Many people rag on artist who can sing but can't dance (i.e. Whitney Houston). But when you're a stylist you don't have to dance to distract everyone's attention to the fact that you really can't sing. Purist only want to hear the voice, the lyrics, and the message.

  • @Wnunubian Once again, your comment is on Point! you so right about it...

i saw Jill Scott perform live in concert...and i mean damn, she just stood there singing w/her band and we were just mesmerized, emotional, empowered, sad, happy and singin at once, right along with her.

I went to the Bluenote to see Amel where she often performs, but it was so crowded and i couldnt get in. I love her so much...what an Artist.

thanks for replying back ( :

  • @manwomanboogie You're a Purist...don't ever compromise or deviate. Make everyone else come up to your level!

  • @Wnunubian ive been like this for 36 years Baby, and ain't no turnin back, Lol...

thanks so much and take care

  • @Wnunubian That is the exact same way I feel. I feel like we're in on this secret that no one else knows about.

  • @unique543 Popular music is never quality music. So Amel can never be popular.... It's made for the masses and so has to be cheap and nasty to be popular. Amel's music will continue to be like water for me.... not coke, sprite or coffee.... but pure and natural refreshment for mind and soul.

  • @RebekahWatts84 great comment :&)

  • @22anavdb Thank you :) and for the record, this song is my favourite on the album

  • @RebekahWatts84

Amel is a genius and this song is one of my favorites. Harmonies are so smooth. I can not agree that she couldn't ever be popular or that everything popular is/was cheap. Beethoven was very popular and genius - 20 000 people attended his funeral. For me popularity doesn't matter both ways. Just because people start recognizing someone, won't make me stop liking the artist.

  • @RebekahWatts84 Popular music can be quality, i do agree that she is very great artist. but just because you are a popular artist, that doesn't mean that means the music wont have quality. i have heard some popular artist that have quality. i think when y
