Anyone else notice that they seem to be intentionally using character models that look like they'd be more at home in a Final Fantasy game (or any other JRPG) than in an American MMO? Scrawny, lanky, pathetic-looking characters are the hallmark of Asian MMO/RPG's -- ANet hasn't forgotten that a Korean company is putting up the cash for their game. ;-)

@startingsprinter If you can run GW1 on high, you'll be able to run GW2 on low-med. GW2 even runs on hardware that isn't sold anymore. :)

@AnalogX64 I'm also a GW1 player. :) The combat system and controls are a bit different in GW2 than in GW1, but all in all the game is still GW in its core. There's still plenty to explore (probably even more than in GW1, imo) and there's the personal storyline if she liked the stories of the GW1 campaigns. But perhaps checking out the game for herself during the open beta will be best. :)

Any idea when the open beta will start? I think I signed up for the open beta on the official website.

@AnalogX64 You signed up for the newsletter, which for some reason rarely works. xD I only know that the open beta will be sometime next year, but they are supposed to start closed beta by the end of this year (atm they are not giving away keys for it though). But I'm sure you wont miss the announcement of the open beta. :)

@AnalogX64 this is just the arena based pvp, this is NOT the open world. there is so much more to the game than the arean pvp showcased here. if you look through Megera23's other videos you will see how open and persistent the world if for you and your wife to explore.

@masqurin13 You're pretty close. ;) In Korean the verb is always at the end of the sentence and depending on the style you speak in and the feeling you want to convey it is modified by adding different particles at the end. She's speaking in a formal style, which means the verb ends in -m/seumnida. (the "eu" sounds like the "u" sound in the word cut).

@Dale1cool The one playing is Karl and he's a developer for ArenaNet, so no excuses there. Also the Virtures seem like mechanic more useful when you are around more allies (like in Dungeons or WvWvW).

these are skills where you need to choose where they should affect the area (with mouse) and so many people dont get it and are way too dumb to realize it ...

you maybe know "wartower.de" ? there is one guy, he played the game in 2010 at gamescom and in 2011 aswell, and still was too dumb to use these skills ... and it is totally annoying that so many people know more from observing then others do from gaming.

the other thing is, when i dont know shit about an mmorpg, i really shouldnt record it and upload it on youtube. sure, its a new game, everyone is a "noob", but still, some people will never learn. ^^

@pRounify I'd be more than happy to watch any and all guild wars 2 related videos, just to gain insight into how the game is going to function / what it looks like. Players in gw2 videos at the moment have a free pass to play like shit since, as I said before, they're new. I typically don't observe their actions as much as how their actions affect the environment and foes around them.

Keep in mind the game code used here is further along the release line than everything we have seen previously this year. so it's not that effects look different it's more like, the effects are added. This is much closer to release/beta code. Also proven by the addition of their lip syncing software you can youtube to see.
