@chanctonbury63, I hope whoever attacks the UK will do the same to you, blowing up the Big Ben and then afterwards claim they ‘still had to go up there and root them out.’
@chanctonbury63, that it was written there, amongst many other amazing history, art works and culture in general. There weren't even any soldiers in the complex, when it was bombarded, yet cameras were conveniently in place. Such a coincidence, right?
The bombardment of civilians was an Allies' methods of instilling fear. I therefore sympathize with the Iraqi and Afghan peoples, currently the victims of this policy.
@chanctonbury63, why should that even matter? A historical site was bombarded, don't you think that's extremely crude? (To say the least.) What if the Germans (or Italians for that matter) had bombed the Stonehenge?
@chanctonbury63, by the way, it's Monte CASSINO, not ‘casino.’ Not everything is decadence and glitter, for the sole purpose of cheap thrills, fornication and gambling.
The Gherkin is conspicuous by its absence.

@chanctonbury63, maybe you should. Have you read «Historia gentis Langobardorum» and other works, authored there?

@eMGeeGFX What has a book written in the 7th Century got to do with a battle in 1944?
