@Neko3Noskire the fact is that it only covers up to 2001, meaning that it is missing the last 11 years of anime. when it was made doesn't effect that, if you covered 2006-present you would still be missing 2002-2005. also before anyone else says anything im not suggesting the maker did anything "wrong" just saying it was a good vid i would have liked to see it come up to present.

This video has a few problems with the time periods of the clips. It showed "Castle of Cagliostro" (1979) and "New Cutie Honey" (1994) between 1963-1974 at 0:45 and 0:47. It also showed "Dragonball GT" (1996), "Gundam 08th MS Team" (1996) and "Dirty Pair Flash" (1994) between 1975-1986 at 0:58, 1:01 and 1:09. It seems like clips from newer incarnations of a series were used to 'represent' earlier releases (and vice versa, I think with Vampire Princess Miyu), making the chronology confusing.

crazy to see how far anime has come within the last 50 years....gotta say, DBZ, Trigun, Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop and Sailor Moon for the win....had no idea those shows were so old, especially dbz! To answer most of your questions the best animes I've seen from this decade (2000-2010) include all the key shows: Clannad, Clannad: After Story,Kanon, and Air. And also, Elfen Lied, Toradora, Fullmetal Alchemist, Lelouche of the Rebellion oh and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (Kai and Rei)

And all those hayao miyazaki movies (like the princess monoke movie that grosses 160 mil) his movies are watched here a lot too. Ever watched spirited away.
