I remember playing this on the Tubro Graphix 16, and the last part, couldn't be done, at all, if you shoot down they reappear in the same spot instantly.
The 2 clones (i assume that they are clones) were used years later in Ninja Ryukenden (Ninja Gaiden US, or Shadow Warriors Europe) for the NES and became a trademark for that game.
I played this game on MAME b/c it brought good memories.
Even though I had unlimited credits, I never bothered to play w/ cheats and I gotta say that I ABUSED of the kwik save/kwik reload when falling before the final boss!!!!! Couldn't even aim down!
All in all, Ninja Spirit = intense action jackson. Lots of yokai to kill!
yep got this on MAME too,i got to level 6 once in the arcade, very hard game, level 3 was so freaking hard, then its a little easier up to 6 brings back old memories, sights, sounds and the smell of the arcade lol never forget it.
Just rediscored this game on MAME. I've gotten really rusty since I couldn't even got through the first level! I used to be able to get at least the first level without dying.
Not many people in the UK seemed to have played this game. I first got inot it as the first level reminded me of Shinobi. However after a couple of levels it is almost like a shoot em up as there's tons of stuff flying around and you're bashing the buttons like made, with your clones foloowing you a la nemesis (Gradius)
I remember playing this game on an Amiga Commodore when i was a kid.
I finished it though. After a while you remember where all the exploding things are on the last level, but the ninjas at the big drop are randomly generated.
In the ending you turn back into a wolf and then it goes to credits showing you running with 2 other wolves.
Besides the last level, the next hardest level is probably the one where you are climbing up the cliff. 3rd last i think.
it's obvious the guy plays like a nub. no way he's any good to beat the last stages. i can get up to the last stage in like 10 min. maybe less. i blow through all the stages except the last. the fact the person is using stars means he's a full blown nub on the 2nd to the last stage. the game is easier than it seems once you figure the principles behind it.
yeah like I believe you that u beat the game itąs freaking almost imposible, got weird hit detection and this vid is cheat mode active u can see clarlz that things hit him and he lives.
Looking at that, it reminds me how so many arcade games ARE impossible, juust to make you put more money in, but also because many really, REALLY hardcore gamers would be able to do that. I'm certainly not against you cheating, but it would also be interesting to see someone actually do that...
I beat this in the arcades without cheats. Yes, it was frustrating.

@MarkMifsud Same here. It was fun though! It took me forever to figure out the path I needed to take during the long fall part

I beat this game when I was 13, TurboGrafx 16, and no cheats. Ahh yes, back in the summer of 1990 when we had snow in August. I love Canada!

But it was really addictive!

nice ending, nice music, looks almost impossible though

I have never seen the arcade version before. The last level looks a lot harder than the TG 16 version.
Why didn't they include that ending in the TG 16 one? That was the only disappointing thing about the home version.
photogguy06 4 years ago
The ONLY way I actually got through that annoying as FUCK falling part was to memorize all the goddamn patterns of those asshole ninjas!

No complaints here, you're just ising these to show us the endings, so in my point of view, cheat away ^^.

in the PC-Engine mode of the Turbo Grafx 16 port, it's a lot easier, but even with the extra hit points, it's a tough game
