oh, absolutely I know, I have been to see them many times in concert, even met Davy at a concert in ohio. I know they had a lot of studio help, but theywer/are 4 talented guys, and the songwriters (goffin/king, Nilsson, Boyce and hart, Neil diamond et al. Were nothing short of the best at the time.) and lets not forget they wrote a few of ther own too.
Wow! Very cool! From what I've read, The Monkees were pretty ground-breaking in demanding control of their music and image, paving the way for other musicians and artists. I love that about them -- that they weren't satisfied to be just TV/Pop icons, they actually wanted to be musicians and business people.
