too bad it has a low power light...but anyway...it would be melting the cds with a stronger lamp...why not trying make one with hard disk plates and a 700W mercury or sodium vapour or even metal halide fluorescent lamp ? :D

Bit of a warning here, dont use the older incandescent light bulbs with this. The heat they produce will quite easily melt the CD's

That's cool. CDs make a good signaling devise also, like to signal a plane or boat. Bet you could make a disco ball the same way.
