Are you referring to Staples and Sears removing the gTablet from sales? It was not a recall. Those retailers chose to remove it from sale because of the high return rates. (Google: viewsonic gtablet recall. First link.)
Update timeline:
The gTablet was launched late Nov 2010 and received its first and final official update in Jan 2011.
The Viewpad was launched late Oct 2011 and received its (first?) update in Nov 2011. Hopefully not the last.
@HEROchinaCN By continuing to put out sub par Android tablet with not made for tablet OS, when little no name Chinese company are releasing $99 tablets with HC and ICS (Google: Novo ICS), Viewsonic show that they are not serious about winning market share or consumer confidence. They are only interested in making a quick buck before the interest in tablet die down. For that they has anger many customers and no longer deserve our support.
@mooncakero ...get the Novo ICS for $89 just like the Koby 7015.. Slow that is what......But for $170 to $200 us dollars-the Viewpad 7E is decent and is so easy to install the G-Tablet's Android Market without any root ... .
The Viewpad 7e is able to stand toes to toes against the Toshiba Thrive with Android 3.1 and is better -I'm not talking about the over 43 gb SD card support.
no it does not the viewpad 7 does not the 7e

To everyone who's considering purchasing this tablet, you should be aware of Viewsonic update and support track record of their previous tablet.
NONE after the initial 3 months.
Google for gTablet Owners Unite on Facebook for the back story.
