Suffocation was really good on their Effigy's of the Forgotten lp, but after that on lp's like Pierced from Within, they got extremely technical, and IMO that change was for the worst. There's nothing wrong with technical music, but when you play technical just for the sake of trying to make it as technical as possible, its not what music is about. There's too many off beat time changes & it breaks up the rhythmic flow. You need to focus on power & intensity over everything else, not complexity
