I actually saw this in the theaters in NYC in its very limited release. It's not perfect by a long shot, but worth seeing because it's Altman directing a very un-PC teen flick. It really should have been better. Also has a VERY YOUNG Cynthia Nixon if you're into that sort of thing.
Apparently this tune is not the "O.C. and Stiggs" song which features at the ending of this film, so anyone know which one of the King Sunny Adé songs this one is? IMDB says "Mo Ti Mo" also is used, but I think that is the song played during the concert scene.
This was the best move. Ever. It is single handedly because of this movie that I ended up, in the middle of winter, sitting on the end of an active runway for hours eating semi-frozen chocolate donuts. At first I thought the weird perceptions were the cold. Then I was informed that the bitter paper things that was informed to keep under my tongue were not breath mints. THose were some crazy ol times.
Dude.....in 1980 National Lampoon had a special OC & Stiggs issue, it was what the movie is loosely based on. I found the entire print out online years ago, you need to read it to see what the big deal was. OC&Stiggs ruled.
@TheJomogogo If you can find it, I would love to have a copy. Remember the cactus 'prick' sound from the movie? I'm thinking that could be made into a ringtone. Maybe the Gila monster would make a better one :D
The movie is a completely different animal from the short stories. It wasn't intended to be the same thing..think about it: the stories were about two teenage boys doing drugs, getting drunk, and raping sluts. You can't put that in a movie in Reagan's America. Or now, come to think of it.
They both are good. I prefer the stories, but the movie is one of my favorites.
This is the film that put Phoenix on the map. It tells how AZ was in the mid 1980s; the movies dialogue goes "chop suey" and "oh my god you're black".
Never could figure why National Lampoon removed their name from this fine film, considering some of the total turds they DID claim. Ray Walston was hilarious in this, and the cast included Tina Louise,Martin Mull,Paul Dooley,Matthew Broderick, and Jane Curtin. I'm glad I own the VHS,because this may never be released on DVD,unfortunately...

Hope this song was not made for the movie.
Mo Gbadura has the same guitar riff.
and Synchro System has the other guitar.
Synchro System is close but not the song.
