@Avignon1685: People can be gay icons no matter what their sexuality is, really. Like, the American singer Scott Walker is/has been a gay icon, though he never was in a sexual relationship with a man (not that we know, anyway). Many celebrities and artists have been called as gay icons, and to me personally that doesn't mean anything.

what's strange is that he's so beautiful yet still chic and stylish, how he's a gay icon and yet still admired by straight men, how he worked both in high art and pulpy entertainment. i'd be very hard-pressed to think of modern examples. (just think of brad pitt and his tacky blond highlights.) keanu reeves has a similar beauty but his style is nothing special; jude law is similarly pretty but i don't know any guys who love him.
