Coming from a meteorological prospective, the local government in Louisiana did a pathetic job. In 1991, the red cross told the city to not use the super dome as a shelter, warnings about this coming disaster had been expressed by meteorologists for decades. The local gov't never had an evacuation plan. I could go on and on. The federal gov't did a cruddy job too, but they should only get half the blame in my opinion.

Bush personally didn't destroy N.O. He wasn't president when the levees were built so he had NO CONTROL of how they were built. Honestly though, if someone gave you 30+ years warning that a hurricane would flood N,O and 7 days notice that a hurricane was coming, wouldn't you leave the city? Looting stuff that is 10+ ft underwater isnt going to work.

It is however amazing how much smoother it went this past summer with a hurricane. Maybe it was the local governments fault.....

The responsibility to protect those people began with themselves. Then it fell to Nagin. There is a thing called seperations of powers. This was a gross failure at the STATE level.
