Music back then in games had enhanced that mood for me, it's so nostalgic listening to songs such as this. Only a few game's nowadays give me the same feeling that old games did. Nothing tops the 90s
World of game mods also has it. Just search for it.
Also: The menu music in this and No Regret is the best effing music in any video game ever. The first mission music from each is also frigging awesome.
I would definitely love to see this done on a modern engine with the isometric viewpoint kept. I can always dream that EA won't eff it up. They've been getting a little better lately with not blatantly screwing their customers right up the ass.
@millakilla199 Buying out Criterion helped EA out loads, since what used to be Renderware has now become EA's main internal Game Engine. It means they can concentrate more on how a game plays over how to get it working
If anyone's looking to download the soundtrack, head over to my website. echosector [dot] com. Both No Remorse & No Regret soundtracks in MP3 and MOD format.
@ghostbirdofprey Actually this games runs only on 32 bit sytems 486 and higher (2D graphics doeas not mean to be automatically 16 bit ... ,modern 2D games are 16 bit too ?? lulz). BTW . Music is still 16 bit (AUdio CD's ;])
@hydzior The game will run on 32 bit systems yes, but it is a DOS game. DOS is a 16-bit operating system.
Also the Music is i the format of audio cds. The music is .MOD tracker files which are similar to MIDI but use recorded samples in the file instead of sounds generated by the sound card. What's great about it, though, is that it sounds like real installments (many older MIDIs don't due to hardware limitations), but is still fairly small
This was my favourite game on the '90s. And I start to make MOD, S3M, XM, then IT musics just because of Straylight Studios. This musics is evergreens. The music was starting here at 6:51, is my favourite. Thank You 4 upload.
I love Unreal and it's music so I looked up who made it's music. And I found out that Straylight Productions made several AMAZING soundtracks in it's short life. This game's music is absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I've got to find a version of this game to play. I can't believe I somehow missed it back in the 1990s.
one must admit they rly knew how to make a good game back in those times :) Dont know if it was becouse i was young, but the atmosphere was stunning. The game was original and level design was excellent, cant think up any game that would rly match its quality and was produced recently :(
Hey it´s the same music of Crusader: No Regret, I love this music, best music ever! I love this and C&C red alert soundtrack, also Jazz Jackrabbit´s best music eva!
man this brings a tear to my eye remembering all this great quality in games. Games nowadays spend no more then 15 minutes making the soundtrack. Its all filled with ambient garbage =[ (doom 3?)
I tend to disagree. Developers are spending more on music than before and Top notch composers are making the music. However they aren't as catchy as before.
Alhough I would say games are not as fun as before. I guess it's the "Been there done that" feeling.
and there was also supposed to be third crusader but nearly all members of origin left so it wasnt released it was called crusader no mercy it also had multiplayer
how did you rip off the music from the game dude? i still have the original cd of both no remorse and no regret until now. i bought this game since i was in elementary hehehe
I didnt rip them or anything...I downloaded them from khinsider-website. Great site for game and anime music. Just google "khinsider" and you should find it :)
the mod player "ModPlug Player" support the format the mods are stored in. All songs are available on the cd as .amf -files. This works for both no remorse and no regret.
I love you guys for loving this game like I did! iou0 is right about MOD music - where to look? I can't put my finger on exactly why I was 'imprinted' with this music 'wave-form'.
Also, Hiraghm, tell me, where is a reliable source of the DOSBox you speak of?
This game *is* playable under DOSBox. I've been playing it on my HP laptop. I rebuilt an old K6 system just so I could play this game, and it semi-died on me, but with some experimental tweaks I got it working just fine in DOSbox, not even the "skipping" problem I had with the intro cinematic. Making an ISO of the game disk and using a disk emulator helps.
can any 1 have nfo that EA will ever continue this series in future..... hope theyy ll bring out this game series with 5th gen. 3d grafix and sound .. not to mention multiplayer mode also.
Even if they did continue this series it won't be the same. It will be an EA created game with just the Crusader license, theme and all. Look what they did to the C&C series.
I absolutely loved this game as well as No Regret and play them all the time on my dosbox. Best music, best idea for a game. Miss old school gaming. Long live CNR!

Oh ma gawd Nightlover69!
I can't thank you enough, hearing these songs again made tears in my eyes!!!
I remember getting this game in toys r us when I just moved from germany on my 8th birthday!
This is ANOTHER amazing game, that DID focus mainly on the gameplay. Unlike todays 99.97% FPS's.

I miss games like this. All you needed was good gameplay and 16 bits for music and graphics.
The current generation is spoiled with their flashy graphics and shitty gameplay
