" See the girl with the diamond ring - She knows how to shake that thing " -
All practical, pragmatic knowledge, ( including sexual knowledge, which makes us aware of our own subjectivity ) - is often a hidden monopoly of class privilege.
One of the main functions of fundamentalist religion is to protect patriarchal privileges by mystifying this fact. This is why sex education, and children's rights, must be fundamental components of education in all democracies.
You might like this little story- They used to play this song at a coffee shop in Berkeley called Au Coquelet back in the day. It was the late 80's when smoking was still allowed. My young brother Ty smoked so we'd go there and hang out. We tried to figure this song out- We're no experts in music, but we thought this song transcended any type- jazz?soul?blues? An older guy sitting next to us overheard our conversation and said this music definitely was ahead of it's time!
@ajzazziesista sorry for the glitch. I took this video with a crappy camera because at the time my good camera had drowned :/ But I'm glad you like Ray, he IS great. He was a "blind sensation."
You gotta love this. This is everything there is to making music with your soul. Not just making,it's living it,put yourself to the song, in good and bad, doesen't matter as long it's from you.
I'm glad you like it. It seems like more people from today are more into Pop, or rap, or Techno (which I have no problem with) but no one seems to be interested in this stuff anymore
well they're nuts! this stuff is golden!!! even if it's not your thing, you can hardly deny the talent and the soul put into this music...i'm 22 and my favorite music is way older than i am!
I know what you mean, Most of my life my favorite music has always been the old stuff. I love old gospel, jazz, blues, bluegrass, country, soul. Most of todays music, like pop and rap, is not really good, if it can even be called music.
This IS the song! My late husband really flipped over this song. Now I play this for those who really don't know the original one. I have the 45 rpm record from Atlantis but it's too badly scratched up. Thanks for posting in YouTube! You made my day...now I can flip over it anytime I want!
No offense, but I'm surprised those damn copywrite people didn't suspend your account when they pulled one of your videos. I've seen it happen everywhere on here. See a good video and then when I want to see video again it's gone and the poor guy/gal's account is suspended.
On one of those "shuffle quizes", where you get asked questions and your music program answers it by randomly selecting a song with shuffle, this song was the answer to "What song will play at your funeral?".
And I thought that was so hilarious that I've always wanted to have it in my funeral ever since.
What´d i say over 6 minutes is just right. First the instruments and after 1.30 The Voice.Good.This version is just the best. in french we say Merci beaucoup.
I wish the audio was better. I love the splashy high hat cymbal work on this (the original) version. The live performance videos of it are good but lack the cymbal work. Anyone know the name of the drummer?
You should use pitch control. Out of tune.

@MrYuba69 Technically anti-religious, and im not even sure dogma's the right word to use for a non-normative statement.
