Is it a 3 cyl or 4 cyl Metro? if it's a 3, your readings aren't gonna be right... you could set it to 6cyl with a 3 cyl and get accurate half readings, so like when it said revving 2k your engine would be spinning 4k

I have a similar if not the same tach from sunpro for my ranger, and for some reason the needle doesn't move nearly as fast as yours

actually you are exactly right, these motors only red lined at 5500, then again it actually has more torque than hp so the low red line is expected

I put a tach on my caprice, is that rice? No. The tach is a very helpful gauge, lets me know the most efficient way to have my gears set on the road. Like on my automatic tranny, to Overdrive or NOT to overdrive..

What did you set yours at for 3 cyl? I have a sunpro and the rps have to be wrong because there is only 4 6 or 8 cyl settings.

hey dude how you install that tach, i have the same model in a tacoma 98 and mine does not have a distribuitor mine has a something call "DIS" , i guess you GEO has the same thing, how you did it? what color you pick from the "DIS" or distribuitor?......please somebody can tell me how to install that in my tacoma 98, 2.4L, 5 speed...........thanks

I shift at 2500 to save gas, I even skipshift from 1-3 and 3-5

Its even slower shifting like that but I'm going for 50 mpg =)

I'll redline it from time to time but I feel bad when I do that =/

My Metro cost me $300, It gets 35-40 MPG no matter how I drive it. It cost $18 for a full tank.

The road to my job always has construction going on so this car absorbs all the rocks to the window while my other cars sit in the garage.

So why shouldnt I have some fun, learn a few new things on a car that served me well? =)

not to be rude, but a better place to mount it would be round your cluster, that way you can see it without taking your eyes off the road. ill post a vid of my sunpro taht i put in my EF, but your install isnt bad really......my tach was the first thing i ever did with my car lol

That and even though this cars my better I'm still anal and I didnt want to mount it in front of the dash because I dont like covering things =P

If I happen to come across one of those monster tachs for cheap I'll probably replace this one. I heard those are more accurate and I like the shift light those things have.

i just read the info you typed about the video and i don't think the redline is 5,500rpm because i looked for the specs on google and the HP peak is at 5,700rpm so its probably like i said on my last comment around 6,500rpm+/-

Yeah the gauge is not very good but I figure it wouldnt be great since sunpro is the butt of car enthusiasts jokes.

I basically just wanted a cheap tach and have some idea when this things going to redline and according to this tach its 5500 rpm.

Weird cause the idle seems normal, I guess it gets out of wack later in the RPM range.

Does your metro have a tach?

Where's your cars RPM at 5th gear at 65 MPH? Maybe that will give me an idea how off this thing is.

for me it dont matter what the tach looks like as long as it has a light and does the job.

Doesnt your metro have a shift light some where under the gauges in the dash? mine does.

but the thing about the dash shift light is if your accelerating slowly it tels to shift early and if you got the gas to the floor it tells you to shift way late. i over revved the metro twice waiting for that damn shiftlight to blink. its a little green arrow pointing up

Yeah mine has the little light too. I was driving lightly today and it consistantly comes on at about 2500 RPM (with this tach anyway) to tell me to shift.

A tach with shift light would be cool but a $100 tach is probably worth more then what my car is =( It would be worth it for yours since your Metros actually nice.

I set my little needle at 5500 so I dont overrev now. I'll make a vid when I figure out how I can mount the cam so that both speedo and tach are showing.

well my metro was crap when i got it. didnt have any dents but a couple of engine parts where shot. (alternator, computer, spark plug wires, spark plugs, somewhat clogged intake, and some wire kept blowing fuses, and a cracked radiator) but all that got fixed. the clogged intake took a while about 2 cans of carb cleaner.

you could make yours worth the money by putting some work hours into it.

I think with a nice hood and a driver side door mine would be respectable, The thing is I cant find any Metros in the junkyards. I think junkyards around here dont even bother keeing them around.

i have the same problem. i need to find a manual transmission because mine doesn't take 1st gear while the car is moving and now its sometimes does the same thing with 2nd gear.

and none of the junkyards that i have looked in have manual only automatic.

from what iv seen and read on the internet the 1.0L 3cyl engines redline is around 6,500rpm +/-
