I used to live in Shirley,Southampton in the 1950's.The Regent cinema became the first supermarket.The cake shop sold the most delicious butter cookies.

According to an advert in the latest 'Buses' magazine, there is a Southampton running day, covering circular routes 4 and 6, being held on 14th September 2008.

Incidently, I travelled in Southampton City Transport AEC Regent V no.402(KOW 910F) on route 4 (and route 2) during the Solent Transport Trust's Southampton running day held on 18th October 1992. Such memories!

The first AEC Regent V, SCT no.353(373 FCR), has an AEC AV590 engine and the second AEC Regent V, SCT no.401(KOW 909F), has the larger AEC AV690 engine.

Seeing Southampton CT AEC Regent V no.401(KOW 909F) in this video brings back great memories of when I travelled in this magnificent vehicle on route 47 between Winchester and Southampton during the FOKAB running days of 2001 and 2002.

up and down Shirley High St brought back good memories to me.
