So I used to watch this cartoon/movie when I was little. It was about a guy? who lived on a roof and could fly? Karlston? The downside of looking up childhood memories 10+ years later...especially when you haven't been back to your home country since 2001 =[
I think you're talking about an old Soviet cartoon Домовёнок Кузя (Kuzya, that is :)) Try searching for it on youtube - there are many parts which you can watch!
P.S.: Kuzya and Cheboorashka are both just great!!!
THESE SONGS ARE LEGEND!!!nothing lasts forever but these songs!!!i am crying right now!!!it birngs back soo many memories from childhood!my mom was always singing those songs before i was going to bed!!!Those are the best songs EVER!!!!
I remember a little сroсodile Gena song translation:) ------- Let's pedestrians harry down the streets full of rain streams Let's them warily Peek out the way All the same didn't find it How can I be so happy In a gloomy and dark rainy day I'm playing my accordion For all passes by to here It's a pity with a birthday Only once per year...
Believe or not the cartoon was released in the 70's USSR. My mother and father still remember this song by heart. Sadly I have a better understanding of English than Russian. Yet, to me the Russian Language has a magic to us русские.
Oh wow - I noticed in the opening credits that Yuri Norshtein was involved. Didn't know that, but I love Norshtein... and a love Cheburashka! Who did the music?
Let the pedestrians clumsily run in the rain across the puddles and the water runs on the asphalt like a river. and its unclear to the pedestrians why i am so excited. i am playing my accordian to paserbyers in public, unfortunatley my birthday is only once a year. suddenly a magician will fly over in a blue helicopter and will show a free movie. he will wish me happy birthday and will probably leave me as a gift 500 klondike bars. (repeat "i am playing my accordian...is only once a year")
W didn't have a tv in Russia. Been in the US for 20 years. I just recently started watching all these russian cartoons. I thik they're way better than any american ones
A good question! It's a game of words, in russian language there was sich a verb that is no more used - чебуракнуться, that means "to fall down". Probably чебурашка menas the person who fell down (and he did - he fell from the chair!)
haha I can't believe I'm tearing up at this clip... I was born in Saratov and lived there until I was 9, and can still sing back every cartoon song. I haven't been back in almost 8 years now and haven't seen any of my family, but this made me think of all of them.
and, by the way... the sound of beautiful Russian language will allways transport me to my childhood: We watched this cartoons and the sound was like you first heard the original voice in Russian and then the translation in Spanish. So this song is exactly as all children in Cuba heard it at that time (i'm talking end 70's & early 80's). Just lovely! From the time when cartoons DID have a message, something constructive and beautiful to say and to learn to children! :-)
I feel exactly like you: the images and the music of this clip leads me right back to my childhood. I grew up in the ussr until I was 7, and could sing all the songs from cheburashka. This cartoon is one of my best childhood memories. I would also like to pay my respect to the makers of cheburashka, for creating an icon for so many children, and promoting one of the most important messages to them: friendship!
Yes, adorable indeed! I'm cuban, but a grew up watching good quality Russian cartoons as this one. Thanks for posting this, you have made cry and then laugh (i laughed at myself for crying, i felt a bit silly) the tears were of longing for those lost times when i was happy without knowing it. I left my country looking for a "better life". Now i have "everething" (material) but live faraway my family and miss them a lot!!! I'm missing the most important :-( thing...
it is great
