@MichaelPDA I used to go to JB's to. Water Street at Kent State back in the late sixties. Joe is the best. I love the James Gang...I still have this LP.
I grew up in a small town near Akron and had the good fortune of getting to hear the James Gang and all this great music at our school dances and other local gigs long before they hit it big. Funny thing. Since we were only 15 or 16 at the time it seemed weird that a person as old as Joe Walsh would still be in a band playing at high school dances. Little did we know how big this music would become or that Joe Walsh would still be around, playing better than ever after all these years.
Joe Walsh still gets a few thousand "write-in" votes every 4 years if you know what I mean... He is well loved and respected throughout the world..Funny as can be...and has some talent!
They were jimmy fox and dale peters. not quite sure, but i think they still live here in the cleveland area, they got together for a concert a few years ago, but i did not go. i think they might play in the flats(bar strip here in cleveland, but pretty dead now) once in a while, or at least i heard.
They did originate here and played the local clubs, but i was too young, that was the late sixties, but hey by 70 you could use a fake id, since they did not have pics on them back then. and we did!
hmm, i've never heard those names before. i guess they didn't pursue music much after that. i play guitar and have played in some local bands here in calif. life changes, interests change. it's a tough way to make a living. ty for info
Check out you tube for the video, Boston Unreleased, She's a Looker/Talkin' to the Wall. Tom Scholz and Brad Delp doing some incredible studio work before Boston hit it big with their first album. You can tell how Tom Scholz was influensed by the James Gang by listening to She's a Looker. Brad Delp was a truly gifted talent!
when joe isn't singin and we are left with instrumental only.....why do i start singin Footloose footloose.... iknow ...its coz large parts of this where lifted by Kenny Logins ( or whoever claims to have written Footloose)
20 years old (if age matters)I have a vynal record collection(400 records) that goes from Elvis to Journey. Also I have a 1976 Pioneer PL115-D turntable.Belt Driven,Semi automatic return, for anyone on here that knows vintage stereo equipment.I am looking for other components:amp, stereo, speakers the whole works.Great music, thanks to manuelworker for the tunes, keep postin, and I will keep listenin.
Okay, all of you shut the fuck up about whats good and whats not, everyones entitled to their opinion, i love classic rock, pretty much dislike anything but it. If you looking for the truly original rock, listen to Buddy Holly. Then move up to the sixties, then the seventies, and so on and so forth. In my opinion, music is something that gives people joy, i know this cause i am a musician, so, if you feel some music is bad, remember its given someone else joy
whoa! rock on! I am, like, 13, and I crank up this good shit! People try to bring me down because this music is old, but, like, I just say 'crank it up, dude!' This kicks ass! Totally!
you have real tastye mty young friend...go ahead and let those morons flap.. This was the real rock. The stuff that came out in the late 60's and early 70's is the oringinal. nothing in the last 25 30 yrs compares with what was happening then..
man, you're not a real bright cat are you? the "original" rock was in the 50s, not the sixties. listen to chuck berry or jerry lee lewis if you want straight rock and roll. james gang, for example, is technically a hard rock band.
you said: "man, you're not a real bright cat are you? the "original" rock was in the 50s, not the sixties. listen to chuck berry or jerry lee lewis if you want straight rock and roll. james gang, for example, is technically a hard rock band."
Being that you never stated the James Gang being from the early 70's one can only assume that you garbled them together in the sixties with the earlier portion of your comment. I was just elaborating in case someone was to misread your statement.
read it as it is: a reply. mr. "flapperhead" said "...This was the real rock. The stuff that came out in the late 60's and early 70's is the original..."
to which i made my original statement. i said james gang is NOT original rock and roll, it's hard rock, and that real rock and roll was the music made by people like chuck berry, jerry lee lewis, or even bo diddley. that is rock and roll. james gang is not rock and roll, it's hard rock. read before you remark
Look PooPoo2U I don't know why you have such an arrogant attitude and I am sorry that we have had a misunderstanding of your point. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to be so abrasive with your remarks and comments on here. Let's keep this a fun and welcoming forum. Not one of ridicule and slap in the face comments like "read before you remark" and "please, do me a favor..." There is no place for being condescending to other people who are just enjoying this website.
@joewalshman: "Funk 49" and the rest of the "James Gang Rides Again" album was recorded in November 1969, and released in 1970. By 1971, Walsh had already left the band.
Ha! Fuck them. I'm sure they all listen to green day and 50cent. This is real music, you are lucky to have been in its presence all your life. I had to find it on my own.
Don't worry about what ignorant people think about you. You'd be surprised how many people your age are passionate about classic rock. My 16 year old son is and so are many kids at his high school. These are the cool kids.
You're right whitebengal987 the emotivity and intensity of late 60's and 70's rock can't be compared to contemporary rock. Some people are talking about another british invasion but the actual bands have nothing to do with the first and only brit invasion. The James Gang rocked...
Funk #49...James Gang Rides Again....too incredible...A blast from my wonderful past.
Too bad kids today couldn't experience this same emotion. Not from the rap crap that they listen to. Who's gonna be listening to that 30 years from now? We'll still be listening to Joe Walsh and JG...Maybe the term "what goes around comes around" will take hold for these lost souls...Again, only my humble opinion..
hey whitebengal987 just because you dont understand rap doesnt mean its crap...i love rock and every other type of music because im a musician and i like to expand my mind to different styles so i can create new ones, and let me tell you that rap has just as much emotion in its lyrics as rock does there jus different styles, you should learn to appreciate all music and listen to it for what its worth
