Of course Higurashi has always been about MORE than "girls that kill each other in violent and gory ways" (why only girls, btw ? Keiichi and Co. are too insignificant to count ?). But the series was popular for being awesome serious horror/mystery with a bit of comedy and most of all, a PLOT. This here looks like it has _nothing_ of the aforementioned anymore. That's why fandom is (justified) mad.
Why must people keep saying Higurashi is about the gore?
There were only two scenes that where actually gruesome. Rika killing herself and Sakoto's torture. Other than that, Keiichi killing Mion and Rena in the first arc and killing Teppei in the third was mostly shadows. Other than that, the first and third arc had no gore. Then all the fourth arc had was a couple of disfigured faces for half a second.
Then Kai only had a few of them being shot. Not really gory. So stop being idiots.
I have no problem with it being comedic, although I would've preferred a more serious arc, but what's with all the goddamn ecchi?! That really ruins it for me. I didn't mind the fanservice jokes and stuff in the 1st season, Kai, and Rei, but now this just makes the girls look like they want to get laid or something. Disappointing...

I'd just ignore it and leave everyone who likes to watch this to it, but when a whole new set of OVA's in one of my favourite fandoms is ...well, this, with no horror/psychological/drama to balance it out, I'm going to be pretty disappointed, and I'm going to say so. >_>

Mion, Rena, Rika, and Satoko then appear all surrounding the phone booth with evil looks, and they are all wielding weapons. Keiichi then wakes up where the episode started beginning the new arc which continues in the next episode.
Okay, I just finished watching it, and wow, it really wasn't good. After that Keiichi wakes up in the Irie Clinic, and Takano and Irie and discussing what seems to be bad news about him (judging by the eerie music). Then the whole gang pops outta no where and tries to kill Keiichi.

The fact is that they changed genre... so that there's nothing left of what higurashi really is, or used to be.. So HOW CAN THEY CALL IT HIGURASHI? Just because characters are (apparently) the same and they have the same names as before? Design has changed, music has changed, character's behavior has changed. What's left? The truth is that no one wants to accept that Higurashi is already ENDED.
