If WoW had a MAJOR graphics improvement (needing a new gfx engine) and introduced generally better animation, some new sounds, new skins for EVERYTHING, stopped making so many goddamn expansions and made some actually fun quests with a lot more group actiivty and class balancing - and SOMEHOW removed the ridiculous running in circles and jumping a lot everywhere pvp tactic, then, then I may renew my suscription.

When they had the free 2-week trials a couple months ago I tried it out again, and it was still the same lackluster and unpolished game with a scarce population.

I tried it and it was great. The graphics are gorgeous and the melee combat system is interactive and innovative. The world is in a low fantasy settings that means there is magic but one won't encounter weapons or armors with pieces floating in mid-air. There are some hiccups here and there when changing zones but I wouldn't go so far as to call it unpolished. Questing, levelling and PvPing were quite smooth for me but your mileage may differ.

OK. You're right. For 1 year it was bad and had much bugs. But funcom wasn't rotten. They have correct so many mistaks. I think, they created the best MMO ever. When you want you can play AoC free for 2 weeks, again.
AoC has been vastly improved. I quit all MMORPGs for a while the came back to AoC and Warhammer and both rock now. Aion is pretty, but it's the same lame Asian crap, not based on any mythology... and the swords in Aion are so ghey looking.
I think one thing you can give credit to Funcom for is their determination to promote the game. I see ads for it everywhere. On every game site I ever go to. I have played Vanguard for a while and its a nice change.
Honestly, I'm sick of WoW and I'm up for a new game. I think that AoC and Lord of the Rings Online offer the most of the things I want, which is why I'll probably stick with those for now. I understand that some people hate the game, but you can't deny how fun certain aspects are.

yeah a low end pc now has like 4GB ram, 500GB HDD , quadcore processor, all the have to do is buy a last year vid card 1GB for $100 bucks and there set.
And the levling is way more fun than in wow since you got a better fighting system, and you level up pretty fast too if its going well and other players leave you alone
Everyone disses this game just because they played it at launch when it was a total disaster. NOW, this game is what it's supposed to be: fun and exciting. The bugs have been fixed, classes are more balanced. Once Funcom gets the endgame content and advertises more, it'll be back. Give it another try, it is the MMO it was meant to be.
The performance issues are almost all gone so you will most likely get at least twice the frame rate you got at launch or even more (little to no crashing too). Most bugs are gone as well. A lot of content has been added to the mid and upper level areas. DX10 is now in the test phase so you can try it out if you want.
A big patch to fix itemization along with other things is right around the corner and an expansion pack is already in the works (no idea when it will release though).

On the Tyranny server I see people in global talking 24/7 spamming. In my guild we have 40+ online at a time out of 200, great guild. The game isn't dead by no means. You're basing the fact that other games fail when they merge servers. It isn't the case here. Not only are they selling more games now more than ever, but the servers are getting populated again with many new players. We've jumped up on our guild from 120 to 210 in the past 3 days. That tell you anything? Fact is this, the game is just beginning. Doing the merges are not necessary and to me it's a dumb move.
But, it could draw even more players in. They shouldn't make new servers, though. By the middle of this year IF Darkfall doesn't live up to it's hype Age Of Conan will be one of the top games. It's like a sleeper that will wake up soon. Darkfall is being over hyped anyways, just like Warhammer was. Which, Warhammer will fall...it's a matter of time. You do realize the producers of X-MEN are creating a movie for Age Of Conan right? Game isn't going to die. It actually does have a population.

I don't know what your basing your facts on, but thats a lie, Age of Conan is starting to look like its going to be a big hit. And by the way, considering everyone "disapeared" during the months of december and january, thats due to the exams and holidays. Yeah, the lead developer also stepping down was a direct result of the game doing well I suppose? The game was a massive failure.
I'm sure it will regain some people once they get bored of other games, but in essence, AoC failed. It will last a while with it's current subscribers as a niche game I'm sure, but it will never be a major player in the MMO market.
Unfortunatly I have to agree with you! I've actually just started playing this game I find it simply amazing, it's great fun and it's a refreshing mmorpg compared to others out there. You sure have a thing out for AoC dont you? The game is doing well, I was playing it a week ago and it had thousands of people playing. WoW is a little kids game, so the little kids continue to play it.
Eh, a lot of the little kids streamed to AoC for the "mature" features. Every MMO out there, with the exception of some of the more difficult ones (EVE, for exampe), tend to have an equal number of little kids.

All these people with lame ass systems need to upgrade or go play their Wii.
Don't bother unless you have at least 2gb of RAM, a GeForce 9x card, and a proc that is reasonably current.
It's a great game, especially for people that tire of WoW but still want a substantial game with PVP and endgame PVE.
It's heavy adult theme is nice also, less kids running around.

yeah a low end pc now has like 4GB ram, 500GB HDD , quadcore processor, all the have to do is buy a last year vid card 1GB for $100 bucks and there set.

Either, if you zoom in enough you enter first person perspective for manual aiming, I think that would be awesome in raids, sort of like sniping.

Everyone disses this game just because they played it at launch when it was a total disaster. NOW, this game is what it's supposed to be: fun and exciting. The bugs have been fixed, classes are more balanced. Once Funcom gets the endgame content and advertises more, it'll be back. Give it another try, it is the MMO it was meant to be.

The performance issues are almost all gone so you will most likely get at least twice the frame rate you got at launch or even more (little to no crashing too). Most bugs are gone as well. A lot of content has been added to the mid and upper level areas. DX10 is now in the test phase so you can try it out if you want.
A big patch to fix itemization along with other things is right around the corner and an expansion pack is already in the works (no idea when it will release though).

idk every mmo that came out since wow has been garbage. including aoc. play it long enough and you'll agree. it could have been so much better. mmo's these days just hype the shit out of their game so they make a killing initially, but they all lose more than half their player base once everyone realizes what a half assed effort the game actually is.

That's so true,, gt one 80, 3 70s, one level 60 one 63 and the rest are above 35. It Gets so boring, those characters I ended up with after something like 3 years of playing. WoW is fun for a person who is new to MMOs, but it gets boring, after a year ofcourse.

What community? Everybody left. Hell, the general discussion forum has only 2 threads that were responded to in the past hour as of right now. There are realm forums that have threads on the first page dating back to 2-3 months ago. The game is dead...server merges are essentially proof of that.

Bull. Do your research. Sales proves that the game is coming back to life and most players who un-subscribed and left are coming back. This game is just starting. On the Tyranny server I see people in global talking 24/7 spamming. In my guild we have 40+ online at a time out of 200, great guild. The game isn't dead by no means. Even mmorpg forums are heating up on the AOC Section.

You're basing the fact that other games fail when they merge servers. It isn't the case here. Not only are they selling more games now more than ever, but the servers are getting populated again with many new players. We've jumped up on our guild from 120 to 210 in the past 3 days. That tell you anything? Fact is this, the game is just beginning. Doing the merges are not necessary and to me it's a dumb move.

But, it could draw even more players in. They shouldn't make new servers, though. By the middle of this year IF Darkfall doesn't live up to it's hype Age Of Conan will be one of the top games. It's like a sleeper that will wake up soon. Darkfall is being over hyped anyways, just like Warhammer was. Which, Warhammer will fall...it's a matter of time. You do realize the producers of X-MEN are creating a movie for Age Of Conan right? Game isn't going to die. It actually does have a population.

I don't know what your basing your facts on, but thats a lie, Age of Conan is starting to look like its going to be a big hit. And by the way, considering everyone "disapeared" during the months of december and january, thats due to the exams and holidays. They're all starting to come back, and AoC is getting more sales, more popular, and more mature then ever. Considering its coming out to the 360, its going to be a hit.

You have the illusion that AoC is getting more popular because the servers were merged. Prior to them being merged, everyone was re-rolling on the more populated ones.
The newcomer's forum on the AoC site? One post today. One. Not a direct correlation to game population, but common sense tells you that it isn't doing well just by looking at the inactive online community.

Funcom laid down "70% of their staff" because of ECONOMIC CRISIS, and not only Funcom but Microsoft as well fired 5000 members, not to mention Mythic. These are all facts, and Funcom's "70%" was formed of the customer service team which was needed when the game launched.

Yeah, the lead developer also stepping down was a direct result of the game doing well I suppose? The game was a massive failure.
I'm sure it will regain some people once they get bored of other games, but in essence, AoC failed. It will last a while with it's current subscribers as a niche game I'm sure, but it will never be a major player in the MMO market.

Unfortunatly I have to agree with you! I've actually just started playing this game I find it simply amazing, it's great fun and it's a refreshing mmorpg compared to others out there. It's a HUGE shame that funcom really fucked up their launch. If the game was what it is now, it'd be a great hit (at least that's what I'd say, I'm a very picky person.....trust me lolz)

Eh, a lot of the little kids streamed to AoC for the "mature" features. Every MMO out there, with the exception of some of the more difficult ones (EVE, for exampe), tend to have an equal number of little kids.
