check out my tutorial for 3.1.2 firmwares., it gives a tethered jailbreak for the 3G which means you have to jailbreak everytime to turn your ipod on.

For Everyone with iPod Touch 3G, this does not work, but it works for every other device

if in the proccess of redsn0w show waiting for reboot (i waitted 30 minutes). unplug and plug the iPhone from the usb cable. if doesn´t works unplug the iphone, turn it off and turn it on, and repeat the proccess to put in restore mode (showed in this video). This work for me.

You need to make sure the cable is in, and plugged into your pc. turn off the phone by holding the power button and scrolling the power thingy. then when it's off pull out the cable and hold the home button and put the cable back in. keep holding home until the restore logo is up.

Once you've jaIlbroken you will see a new app called Cydia. from cydia you can download many things like Winterboard which is a theme loader, gpsphone which lets you play gba games. Installous which lets you download hacked app store games etc.

if u get 1604 error that means ur using the old version of itunes u have to download the new itunes version 9

Unfortunately I think the IPSW's i've provided update the baseband... I dont have another simcard to test although you could try googling for a 3.1 custom ipsw that doesn't update the baseband ;)

Cool thanks man I think I'll wait until there is a more stable way of jailbreaking the phone... only thing I was worried about was not being able to MMS come the 25th but I found another way on here to enable the MMS feature on my phone... It's there now all I gotta do is wait for AT&T to roll out the network to allow MMS and I'll be straight still on 3.0.1

This is actually very stable :D. It's just people dont understand you have to on firmware 3.0.1 and lower and jailbroken to use a custom ipsw.

are you using an official carrier? Btw, the no 'carrier logo' is a glitch. You still have a network it just doesnt say the name. If not, it's because you downloaded the hacktivated version. You need the unactivated version.

yes, but you backup first then when you've restored. set as new phone and then restore from backup.

1. Have jailbreak 3.0 redsnow .8

2. itunes 9.0

Haha, The baseband shouldnt be too much of a hassle, just no unlock. You can still jailbreak. This song is called The War By angels and airwaves. It's Live and the vocalist was drunk as you can probably tell :P

after following others bad advice for windows i had to upgrade to official itunes 3.1. is this the reason this wont work for me, maybe because the baseband is changed using itunes 3.1 but using the custom restore 3.1 i don't think changes the baseband. if i just would have found out about restore mode instead of DFU mode first, damn damn damn. damn tysiphonehelp, damn him damn him damn him

Make sure you're on os 3.0 and redsn0wed. Once that's done just follow my advice here :) even with the latest itunes this should work.

if you're running vista 32 bit or xp 32 bit for some strange reason it doesn't work for everyone (like me lol) but don't worry, supposedly the dev team is gonna release info this saturday on the official windows jailbreak (but it may not be the actual jailbreak, just an update on their progress...we'll see)
