i'm pretty sure he just has a delay on, gets the whammy bar really tight and sort of slaps the whammy bar after hitting the notes.. that's how i get closest to that tone..

Interesting, although I've seen him play this live using (what I thought to be) only a whammy bar, and I've recreated the effect that way myself. Maybe he does both, though. Never know...
John for sure does use the adrenalynn iii pedal. its over driven but yu do have the right setting. Please check out John Mayer Rig Rundown.
