There was actually a level cut out of this. You were originally supposed to fly out of the Cairo and enter the Assault Carrier, but Bungie cut the level and gave us the bomb cutscene instead. This scene isn't bad, but it does have that rushed, sort of sloppy feeling (the way he just jumps off and lands on the In Amber Clad) and just feels like something was altered or changed.

well, if you bounce off, whatever speed you bounce off with, it stays with you, untill you hit somthing, so when the oxygen sucked the bomb

He is in the region between Earth's atmosphere and space, so it's not enough air to cause friction and burn up on reentry yet but he's also not far enough to be in geosynchronous orbit.

Gravity is everywhere, even in space, you just happen to be too far to feel the immediate affects which is why space ships rotate around the planet, they're constantly falling towards it but missing it hence their orbit. Master Chief was close enough for gravity to pull him and the bomb towards it.

Only one, I forgot his name but he was training the Spartan III's which aren't as superior as the II's but are more "disposable". The other spartan II's are stuck on Reach after it being glassed, their dead. Some survived with their "creator" Dr. Halsey, who started the Spartan project. These surviving spartans were saved by 117 (The Chief.)
