Fascinating. This seems rather avante-garde, but still clearly rooted in African tradition. At one point, I was struck by the way the guitar seems to echo the sound of the sekou. I think it says something about the vitality of African music that as it becomes more "modern" it also still retains the traditional instruments.
It is a real plus that this is one very impressive-looking lady with a good voice anda dignified presence.
