The Romans renamed the historical Jewish land of Israel which includes Judaea and Samaria to Syria Palaestina, after the Bar Kokhba revolt 136AD. Palestine was never a nation. The Arabs only started calling them Palestines after the 1967 war, previous to then they were Egyptian, Jordanians or Syrians.
