What a time to have been growing up in; Woodstock,getting drafted, civil rights, etc. The music still sounds great after all these years (I was 18 at the time). Actually, the song is about the Sunset Strip curfew riots in Hollywood. The locals did not like the kids who went to the clubs spilling out on the street and blocking traffic. Actually, the song is about the Sunset Strip curfew riots in Hollywood. The locals did not like the kids who went to the clubs spilling out on the street and blocking traffic. So they got the local government to put a curfew in place on the kids. The kids got mad and got into confrontations with the police over enforcement of the curfew.

I was there, and the kids weren't spilling out the clubs. The 'scene' was to walk from one end of the best part of the Strip to the other and listening to bands playing for free.
Prime location opposite the Aquarius Theater where you could glimpse rock royalty in their fine feathers and groove to the beat or play instruments with bunches of other kids in impromptu jams.
Sometimes you became friends with them, sometimes you never saw them again. That was the vibe of the times.
