Dann
@tomvs2 good question, i think you might need an amp, but i know that you can use a headphone so you can start using it right away, it also can work on batteries so you can take it with you anywhere an sample stuff. I don't own the microsampler but i own synths and use monitorspeakers -the ones you see in musicstudios- because they have amps in them. so with those you don't need anything else, altough a mixer can be handy (and needed) if you use more devices (cd player, other synths and so on).
@tomvs2 this is part 2 of my answer ;) A good advise though, check the microsampler in the store so you are sure its what you're looking for, also check other (korg)stuff like the kaoss KP3 pad, it also allows sampling and is used by deejays. so ask for info and tell the seller what you want to do with the device.
@DAIO12345 there are three microkorgs- this one, the XL and the microsampler.
so check out the microsampler if you really want to sample. it has a gooseneck mic and you can place youre mp3 player in a slot. so maybe thats more what your looking for?
I find that it is, but then again i dont think it was really made to run drum synth but I suppose you could connect it to your pc as a midi controller.
Very good work in editing this review. Lively and funny, featuring good examples (I like the bass tweak on the jungle beat). I shall follow your hairy arm thumb up recommandation :-D
xl - u'll love it. better sound engine, more polyphony, better vocoder, better keyboard. u can use it as a midi keyboard to use it with ableton live/cubase/logic etc
@ecolangot666 i don't think beats are possible you can use zoom (korg) drummachine or plug the MK in your pc or mac if you have the right sofht&hardware.
@The8BitLegendPSN thanks, that's all i'm here for. what's with all the talking in these reviews? it's a synth, not an art film. shut up and turn some damn knobs already.
dude, my life is so much better but SERIOUUSLY YOU HAVE TO tell me how u made / got beats on it man , dont leave me DYING HERE! WE ARE MICROKORG BROTHERS! DONT LET ME DIE! REPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@geggiii there's loads of drum machines. my first choice was the KORG EMX-1, but you can get cheaper ones. top notch ones include the Electron Machinedrum and the Dave Smith Instruments Tempest :)
This is one of the most powerful and fun synths ever made. I recommend it for anyone, advanced user or total beginner. Either twist buttons randomly and make cool sounds, or get that exact tone you want through meticulous tweaking. Can do ANYTHING.
This is one of the most powerful and fun synths ever made. I recommend it for anyone, advanced user or total beginning. Either twist buttons randomly and make cool sounds, or get that exact tone you want through meticulous tweaking. Can do ANYTHING.
I have a couple of questions. First say I wanted to make a melody or whatever FL Studio and save that as a MIDI. Is it Possible to import that MIDI file into the microKORG? and also will the sound change at all? (I'm using basic 3 oscillator generators in FL) Also for performing would it pay off more to use separate equipment for a drum machine? and Finally can you still use a given vocoder set up while you are playing other songs?
ok, i've been thinking of getting this thing, so i was just wandering: can you do a split sound on it?like, split the keyboard into two sounds.and also, can you combine two sounds into one?
@toodietoodieomg And THAT'S not all! If you turn the volume knob all the way to the right, you can achieve.......(drum roll)......MAXIMUM EFFECT! Ta-da! What WILL they think of next?
Is there a way to record what you play right on to the computer? I make the kind of music that this is made for and I want to start recording my songs so I can put them out in the world. Can you help me?
You're just as much of a sheep as any guitar player, you followed the "different" route. Which is a route millions of others choose every day, it's not so different when it's done every day, is it?
@Bajamug Oh yeah, millions of kids buy synthesizers and millions buy guitars, oh wait no out of every million guitars bought by kids there is probably about 2 synthesizers bought by kids. So your point is?
@NerfZoo So what, you think people only buy guitars because it is expected? You don't think there are people that chose it because they wanted to just like you chose a microkorg? Trying to be cool by trying to be a non-conformist is even worse.
@NerfZoo Buying a guitar doesn't make you dumb, just because something is common doesn't mean it has to be bad... Also, most dance musicians today played around with synths back when they were "just" kids, so no you aren't weird at all :)
@NerfZoo You probably read my name, unless you're an idiot. In case you are, it says Timmy. Now I don't know about you but I don't think people with that name have 'that time of the month', now do they? But I can't expect someone like you to understand, can I?
I've read so many negative opinions on this keyboard over the years that I had no idea it could make such cool, truly convincing retro sounds. I'm looking for a hardware synth to complement the VSTs I use, for an early 80's synthpop sound. I'm thinking of this as well as the Roland Gaia.
I seen this synthesizer in the music instrument room at Best Buy on the 3rd floor of Mall of America! I want this as my graduation present! If they don't have this synthesizer next time in June, Dad may get me a different synthesizer!
@BRANSCOMBEx I started with the factory patch here, it's either A3 or B3. I'm tweaking the resonance and filter knobs to achieve something like an acid bass line... If you guys don't know Josh Wink's song "Higher State of Consciousness" you need to buy that asap!!
I bought a microkorg last year, and I've gotta tell you...I did not like it. The vocoder is only fun when you are really drunk and the sound it produces is not superfat or something. You can make all these sounds with Sylenth1 or Massive. That is the main reason why I sold it last week, because I want to have hardware that produces sounds that can not be made with software. And now I have a xoxbox
@petruccigod356 Keyboards work best through a PA (speaker) or a keyboard amp. Keyboard amps and bass amps are very similar. Don't play this through a guitar amp.
I hear alot of people dissing the mic on the vocodor. How much would i have to spend to upgrade to a better mic? or will a 30$ cheap one even be better?
Hey im kinda new to synths. Im into keyboards, but got into Electronic music and thought of getting a synth. I was hoping to get one of these MicroKorgs. Im not really into the arpegiator or anything like that. Is it hard to just start playing synths and change sounds??? thnx

just 4 note polyphony [although not that big of a deal]

@fletch248 I may be wrong but i think you have to hold shift and press the #8. Then you turn the first edit knob to off.

I seen this synthesizer in the music instrument room at Best Buy on the 3rd floor of Mall of America! I want this as my graduation present! If they don't have this synthesizer next time in June, Dad may get me a different synthesizer!

BRANSCOMBEx 1 year ago
@BRANSCOMBEx I started with the factory patch here, it's either A3 or B3. I'm tweaking the resonance and filter knobs to achieve something like an acid bass line... If you guys don't know Josh Wink's song "Higher State of Consciousness" you need to buy that asap!!

@soulwinna42 nor is it the kid who posted this video he stole from another site which I made. It's me narrating, but I'm not Thomas Gore

Do you need to have external speakers?
Flabtato 1 year ago
can you make loops with this?
petruccigod356 1 year ago
can you just plug it into a speaker or do you need an amp
petruccigod356 1 year ago
@petruccigod356 Keyboards work best through a PA (speaker) or a keyboard amp. Keyboard amps and bass amps are very similar. Don't play this through a guitar amp.

I hear alot of people dissing the mic on the vocodor. How much would i have to spend to upgrade to a better mic? or will a 30$ cheap one even be better?
cub670 1 year ago
@cub670 Yeah you can get cheap behringer and shure dynamic mics which a meant to be pretty good.
RealRapMusic187 1 year ago
@cub670 yeah, a cheap dynamic might even be better. the stock mic isn't very good

Hey im kinda new to synths. Im into keyboards, but got into Electronic music and thought of getting a synth. I was hoping to get one of these MicroKorgs. Im not really into the arpegiator or anything like that. Is it hard to just start playing synths and change sounds??? thnx
