  • AMAZING! What a wonderful thing to hear! I'm happy that you got to re-live a fond memory spent with your Grandfather. I'm so happy that I could help you bring some of it back!...THANKS!...Doc

  • Lookie hyar; thar haint no Saiskwachus down thus fer South, hyar. Theays a site furthur on upt Nartht!

  • Lots of those engines head over Donner Pass (by me) as well as Rockie Mountains and other areas. When you go through the rockie mountains you have the 7 mile long Moffat Tunnel plus lots of other tunnes. The diesel soot builds up on the engines when going through tunnels. Could be other reasons for the blackness on the lead unit but most likely soot from going through Tunnels.

  • What caused the charring on 141?

  • I'm not sure. Could be really dirty. Some of the locomotives that I've seen recently had paint blistering, and falling off the sides. These things really get hot. Then when you add 90+ degree heat with blowing dust,in Southern Cal., Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, etc. who knows? Anyone know?...Thanks!...Doc
