  • Lol and those hospitals by the trainyard are becoming a city of their own

  • JOOSE!

  • Westchester Avenue Yard looks bigger than Coney island's yard

  • @XxLiLGiJoE17xX No it don't!

  • @JamaicaQnzFreak pause at 5:55......i thinks its just the view cause that looks bigger

  • @XxLiLGiJoE17xX I seen the yard myself in person......its not that bigger than Coney Island Yard!

  • @JamaicaQnzFreak oohh cause i go pass coney island yard everyday on the belt parkway and look at it.....westchester square looks long but coneyisland yard is just wide cause at 5:55......i looks like a double yard....one set a about 20 R142a's then in the back looks like more R142a's lined up

  • Thanks for the ride. The big tree in the St Helena GS playground is down. I used to line up there for school in the 50s. The buildings are marked up alot. That Parckchester area was the place to live in the 50s,60s and early 70s. i 'm glad I did.

  • @tommyyjayy Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • @tommyyjayy They've cleaned up those marked up buildings big time as of late, it's amazing how much changes in 3 years... Parkchester is becoming even nicer again, though it barely declined regardless.

  • loved watching your video .... lived in Parkchester in the 90's (unionport road and laurel) and took the #6 to work in manhattan each day ..... many happy memories of friendly people sitting on benches, beautiful trees and squirrels in summertime, pretty holiday decorations in winter .... feeling a bit homesick and hoping nothing has changed very much ... maybe some day i can take a visit back again ... it was great to find your video - many thanks for sharing : )

  • @FoghornLeghorn1116 So glad you enjoyed it :)!

  • Nothing like bringing back memories. I lived on thieriot and westchester avenue and left the bronx 34 years ago. Live upstate now. We visit occassionaly to shop. Arthur avenue indoor market, is the best.................

  • @dancingwithathong28 Glad you enjoyed my video!

  • i was born and raised in parkchester now i live in albany i sure miss the bronx 1980-2001 havent lived there in 9 yrs

  • @nj4life100 Well you can always make a visit back to the Bronx!

  • I am living near the Parkchester area (Castle Hill) and I absolutely love it! I have been here 2 years now and would never even CONSIDER living in another part of the Bronx or another city in New York for that matter. I grew up in the South Bronx and swore I would never return (bad memories of my childhood). I actually feel the safest, living in the Bronx and everything is within my fingertips! The people that commented here are obviously outside of NY and have never seen the Bx up close .

  • @imtoolovely I agree with everything you just said!

  • @imtoolovely

I spent nearly 12 years of my 17 year life living in an apartment on Starling AVe in Parkchester. I know lot of people say it is Castle Hill, but it is only off the intersection of Castle Hill Ave. The Bronx does get a bad rep, mostly from people that don't know anything about it. I live in central Nj now, but may return to the city for college :)

  • @TheKrissKat1

Bronx does get a bad rep, mostly from people that don't kno--agreed!.

  • I'm from Pelham Bay. I moved to Florida when I was 12. I was just up there for Thanksgiving and took the 6 into the city; those R142's are great. I think growing up they were Redbirds. Anybody wants some damn good pizza, get off at Bhure and go to Crosby Pizza Stop. I could go for some right now. Great video.

  • @Lunchbox77667 Thanks.....glad you enjoyed the video!

  • kool u left from parchester thats were i live

  • I never lived in Parkchester....that is the train station I used!

  • oooooooooooo

  • Virus Vandalizing Team

  • Ah ok thanks!

  • 3:49 SEE V.V.T

    4:10 SEE V.V.T again !

  • V.V.T???

  • Right--no subtitles! Feel free to add them in though (yellow subtitles are the best)....I recently visited my friend at ps 106 in Parkchester since seeing this video. It's not bad at all! You were right! I didn't feel unsafe in the least. I even heard happy birds chirping....and there are a lot of Bengali restaurants right near the school...

  • See told ya......the Bronx had changed alot!

  • YAY!! No bullet proof vests!! I'm excited!!!! Thanks Jamaica! Oh--so only about 2 blocks away from ps 106 according to google. WOW!! Close....(yep-I know the Bronx but not this part). I know there are a lot of good areas in all 5 boroughs but just wasn't sure about this part. Also, you can turn down some blocks and it makes you feel uneasy-and then another block is fine. Friend works as teaching fellow at ps 106 so was just curious. She's still alive....(great video btw)!

  • Thanks....glad you enjoyed the vid!

  • It's got the beginning atmosphere of an 'Independent Film' or a foreign film. I expect....subtitles any moment...!!

  • LOL...no subtitles!

  • Oh I see--you already mentioned this area of the Bronx is not dangerous. OK-that's good to know. I can leave the bullet proof vest at home then?

  • Yes you can leave the bullet-proof vest @ home lol!

  • How many blocks does one have to walk from Castle Hill stop to ps 106? Anyone know? Thanks.

  • According to Google Map...its looks like 1.5-2 blocks!

  • actually-it's end of discussion with two S's..not one.......Castle Hill looks really run down. Is it safe?? Is it safe to get off at that stop and walk to ps 106 or do you have to dodge bullets?

  • Castle Hill is safe....The Bronx is actually safe to live in!

  • change your title from Parckchester-E 177 st to just Parkchester!

  • No!

  • why?

  • What for? Does it matter? Its the station orginial name and I'm not changing it end of decision!

  • you mean end of discusion!

  • Yes I meant that!

  • yeah!

  • They still dont run R62's?

  • No....the entire 6 line is R-142A's!

  • Your welcome....I started riding the 6 train by myself when I was 11 yrs old. I would either get off @ 125th Street or 33rd Street!

  • Man How I miss The 6 train. Born and raised in the BX. Miss it. The Bronx never leaves you

  • Your right about that.....I miss The Bronx also. I used to live in The Bronx from November of 1989 to June of 2003. • In Parkchester....but Parkchester isn't dangerous!

  • is it still dangerous there?

  • Dangerous where?
