I've been on many modern and great roller coaster's . But nothing beats it. Once you have ridden it once you will under stand and want to ride it over and over again. living only a few miles away from Lightwater Valley I have probably been on the roller-coaster well over 200 times. The coaster is quite harsh on your knees in some places. But I would happily sit on it for hours. My record stands at 45 times in one day :) Got to love rainy days when no one else is there @)
I would love to ride this, but I am in the US, 2 drops, and speeding through a track in the middle of fields and woods. Old turn of the century coasters had the same elements, slow parts, and then some drops, The Ultimate, damn, why is it like 3,000 miles away lol And that coaster is a fast one, its not like the coasters of 100 years ago, though I agree that the lifts are slow. Looks like a kick ass ride though.
3:32- "ravages"? Ouch!!! Looks bumpy, too, w/ painful lats after the 2nd main drop. Also, the drops are like CP's Gemini- not steep enough.
Longest coaster? That would be Steel Dragon 2000. Shorter is sometimes better, b/c long coaster can have boring sections. Ex. Maverick & El Toro(4,500 ft.) have no gentle sections.

So why did British Rail finish the ride, as opposed to another ride manufacturer?

@djfireball999 I guess that few engineering companies were equiped to deal with such a task ... plus it is a British thing I guess :P
