  • I love the convination between the old and modern of this city

  • Paris FTW ;D

  • NYC and London are more like each other than any other city in the US or UK. Ive visited London a few times, and live in NYC, they both have oddities like Chinese people making Pizza , Indians selling luggage in China town (NYC) and Chinese and Arabs selling fish and Chips (London), I love it, makes the world a better place, the world over can learn acceptance and tolerance from these cities.

  • new york looks more impressive in terms of skyline, but when you go into the city itself theres no place like london! greatest city in the world by far

  • NYC is an amazing city, but I think London does edge it for me! The history, the variety of architecture - Mix of old AND modern, the diversed cultural interests,,, I just believe it is such an stimulating and exciting city :)

  • London is obviously the best city in the world

  • when i visited new york, it felt american. when i visited london, it felt WORLDLY.

  • @Nihilanth1982

You probably have never been to new york then, new yorks the most multicultural city in the world with people from all different backrounds. londons a shithole filled with pakis and jamaicans, and they just recently had a riot.

  • @DarkosApprentice I have been to new york. It's an overrated, butt ugly concrete dump full of Americans, it's nowhere near as multicultural and open as London. The people there are arrogant and full of themselves, and the US flag is everywhere (very american). In London, in about two minutes walk I have must have encounterd dozens of languages from people - in NY it would just be americans. You're entitled to your opinion, but London to be rocks. NYC sucked balls, sorry.

  • @Nihilanth1982

Lol is that some kind of joke? New York is filled with italians, russians, puerto ricans, colombians, serbians, albanians, blacks, whites, jews, mexicans, etc. It is way more multicultural than london, new york city is also bigger than london !.

London recently had a riot, you can have your opinion but london is a trashhole !

  • @DarkosApprentice sorry but when i was there i hardly encountered as much foreigners as you like to say compared to when i was in london. my best friend is from sweden and italy, both study there. their doctor is serbian. my boss, when working there, was south african. colleagues consisted of americans, locals, japanese and a greek. gf was danish. this is a small sample. say what you want, but when i went to new york, it was shit. full of americans. nowhere near as worldly.

  • @Nihilanth1982 All I saw in London was the Union Jack, NYC rocks, I dont think youve visited very much in NYC except the tourist traps. I love London but Queens NY is the most diverse place on the planet. Come back and do not follow any tourist guides, you will find the people here warm, friendly and extremely welcoming, thats how I was treated when I first came here.

  • @vrny1975 actually, london is the most diverse place on the planet. this was proven by a selection of students at a new york university who were actually trying to produce figures to show new york as the most mixed. know your facts. ldn>nyc (though not knocking new york, it's a fantastic city)

  • @yeahacoustic wow Im glad you settled that one.Queens NY (not all NY) is the most GENETICALLY diverse place on the planet, Nat Geo took random DNA swabs of people on the street to trace early human migratory patterns from Africa to the rest of the world which started 60,000 years ago. Its 2 or 3 postal zip codes in Queens that house pretty much every genetic type on the planet, thats according to Nat Geo. Im talking genetics not nationality.

  • @DarkosApprentice Haha, London is a shit-hole no it is not, I used to live in New York and other areas, and the people there are by far the worst there's gangs massive ones mafia's no thank you I would rather live in London and leave New York a preposterous place to live, riots happened because there were some immature teens who felt like looting so why reflect it on the whole of London, so why don't you go to your shithole hell! Now STFU!

  • London is great but it just doesn't have the buzz, energy and visual wow factor that NY has. You feel like an ant in NY because of all the people, activity, skyscrapers, 8 lanes of traffic, billboards, etc. In London you don't get that same vibe, it's a much slower pace and far less intimidating city. For instance, Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street and Oxford Street could just be any main strip in the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn. Those 3 boroughs are more urban and intense than most of London.

  • Comment removed

  • @Fnkychld

The energy and wow factor in New York is simply a sheer index of population density. There's nothing real else to distinguish it above any other cookie cutter alpha city, and there's little to engage the brain in terms of cultural interest. It may be impressive to MTV-reared ADHD kids, perhaps, but beyond first impressions, the whole experience, at least for me, was shallow and uninspiring.

Recently, London seems to have gained the vibe that NYC lost, in terms of the place to be.

  • @JCrownwell why are you using kids with adhd, you seem really uneducated.

  • @dalebeerboy

ADHD is a cultural as well as a behavioural problem - though its aetiology is not understood it's become a symbol of the kind of superficial and inconsequential lifestyle led by hedonists in western europe.

If you or a relative suffer from ADHD I apologise if my remarks caused offense. It's so prevalent now that it's almost considered a normal variant.

  • @Fnkychld

"Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street ... could just be any main strip in the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn."

Maybe in a parallel universe. Fifth avenue, Manhattan's pinnacle retail zone, doesn't come close to comparison to the likes of Regent street, and you're saying that Brooklyn/Bronx/Queens is comparable?

Compare watch?v=Ydy8jn7DWVI to watch?v=OqzWQ5QlR8k. London at street level is simply more magnificent, cultured, interesting and classy. Manhattan is more impressive from the air.

  • @Calenfeyn41

You think Regent Street is better than 5th Avenue? Do you know how massive 5th Avenue is? 5th Ave stretches from 143rd street to 8th street. Regent street is a regular street with low level buildings and department stores that you can find at any mall. Pretty much ANY STREET in Manhattan is more impressive, bigger, longer, has better stores and is more lively than Regent Street - 42nd, Madison, 5th, Lex, 57th, 34th, 23rd, 14th, Broadway in SoHo, 125th, Amsterdam etc, etc, etc.

  • @Fnkychld

I've been to 5th Avenue and wasn't really impressed to be honest. The city is a grid so obviously the avenue itself is going to extend from one end of Manhattan to the other, but the notable shopping areas on it are relatively restrictive. The presence of high-rises in Manhattan streets just doesn't compare qualitatively to the elegance, grandness, classiness, beauty and cultural depth of the neo-georgian architecture in London.

  • @Fnkychld

Aside from that though, 2 areas in New York stand out as world class - the Met Opera house, and the adjacent areas, and the part of 5th avenue close to the Apple store.

  • @Fnkychld

"You think Regent Street is better than 5th Avenue?"

Though Regent Street is relatively small (essentially serving as an interconnection between Piccadilly and Oxford Street, it is in a league above Fifth Avenue in terms of the quality of the shops and the walking experience.

  • @Fnkychld London has a better vibe than New York...New york is filthy, the skyscrapers are mostly ugly concrete boxes..The shopping is dull compared to London..I LIVED in new york for a year with my family! I can honestly tell you London is a much better city.

  • @will101page You just sound jealous trying to insult NYC. If anything is "dull" it's grey, boring, repetitive London. The US is the pop culture capital of the world and the best movies, music, entertainment, sports, shopping etc come from New York City. No one cares what comes out of London. NYC is bigger, more famous, faster paced, better shopping, home of the stars etc. You only have like 3 busy shopping streets, and any random street in NYC is busier and bigger than each of those.

  • @Fnkychld Jealous? LOL why would I be jealous? I have LIVED in new york, if i really wanted to i could pack my bags and move there tomorrow. London is better so i am not going to. It makes me laugh how biased and wrong your comment is "3 busy shopping streets"? LOL Someones clearly never been to London. having lived in both i can tell you that London is much better for shopping and is much better for everything. Having Lived in both, I can honestly say that London is better.

  • @Fnkychld It is clear that you are the biased one who has never been to London. Thats why so many people have disagreed with your comments. London's shopping is much more classy than NYs, London gets MUCH more tourists and is MUCH cleaner and more beautiful. NY is sprawling urban mess and the streets are filthy, some of the Living conditions outside manhattan (even north manhattan) resemble 3rd world cities...My opinion is not biased, as i know lots about both cities, and London is better ;)

  • @Fnkychld Hahaha i only just realised how many comments you have against you...not just me who knows you are talking bullshit

  • @Fnkychld In London, people tend to me educated i don't really care too much about where the stars live unlike america. NYC can not be compared to London as london is a lot older and has more style and things to do.

  • you know these alpha cities are pretty much incomparable. You can't really compare an old city like London to a new high rise city like NY they are just different,it's like comparing a cat to a dog.yes you can compare them on pure statistics wich is a good way of sorting out the bad, norma, good, great, alpha++,but to try and really get it to a T is exactly where Communism failed, saying that they can understand every thing, you just can't.London and New York are 2 cities that have my eternal respect

  • even if London WAS bigger than NYC (which its not) ... London is the only "city" in Britain, basically a concentrated city monopoly... How many major cities are in the US??? hmmm... too many to count.... Now lets put ALL of them together (into one national, concentrated city) ... AND POOOFFFF, A CITY LARGER THAN YOUR ENTIRE COUNTRY!! you people make me laugh... any further comments are just water under the bridge... I'm insulted that you "twats" even consider comparing the UK to the US.

  • @admx94 I don't think you are that ignorant to compare 60 million to 350 million people. If UK was a country as big as the UK, with much natural resource and more people, UK would have been more powerful than the US by now. Although being a little island next to Europe was able to invade and colonise 1/3 of the globe including US (13th colonies). Why are you guys fighting for, all these cities are fascinating and they are on their own. Tokyo, London, New York, Paris, Madrid, Rome etc all amazing

  • @1234567loading ok ok... i think we can agree to disagree. Its just people don't take into consideration the size of the US... you really can't compare the UK to the USA because its like comparing a speed boat to a cruise ship. thats all.

  • @admx94 I think they are comparing 1:1 per capita then yes any country can compare to any other country, what you can't compare is Overall output for example China may have 2nd biggest economy in the world but its still a third-world developing country in terms of GDP per capita, quality of life, living standard, healthcare, and HDI etc China is still way behind and poorer than those little European countries. US is the current superpower and its in decline. Ofcourse NYC is one of my fav cities.

  • @admx94 London beats New York in many ways and vice versa. That's why they are both ranked Alpha++ above anyone else. Now, what London needs is those boxy towers all over the city like Manhattan island, and yes they can be built within a few years (as long as you have money), what New York lacks is a great history which can be tracked over 2000 years like London has, however you can't buy or construct the history within a few years like London can get modern buildings within a couple of years.

  • @1234567loading NYC has many thousands of those "boxy towers" -mind you, they are naturally boxy(square in shape)because when they were built(early 1900s)that WAS the only shape that a sky scraper could have. NYC has a very extensive architectural history. Sure, NYC won't beat London in history, but I doubt that London will ever have the same "Urban-scape" that NYC has. Even if you guys were the new Dubai. you wouldn't be willing to tear down all of that history in order to build towers.

  • @admx94 No thousands, only 477 towers that are 110m+ London beats NY in many aspects for eg, London is Financial Capital of the world, NY comes 2nd. Best university in London ranked 4th world wide but Columbia NY's best uniiversity ranked only 11th. Yankee Stadium is most expensive in NY but its cheaper than Wembley Stadium in London. Madison Square Garden is so famous/busy but not as much as The O2 Arena in London. Biggest Park in NY is Central Park but its 3 times smaller than Richond Park

  • @admx94

In contrast, London is a jewel. It integrates the clean, modest elegance and historicity of the older buildings with modern, sharp, technologically vibrant architecture in a way that is unparalleled in any other alpha city in the world. It also has a burgeoning skyline which, despite being modest at this stage, already renders the drab box-configurations of NYC ostensibly prosaic. There's plenty of room for this to expand, despite your claim otherwise.

  • the richest/most powerful person in Britain would feel underdressed in the Upper East Side of NYC.... Mind you, that person is probably a Royal, AKA, a person who was born into a life of ease off the backs of the British commoners. Not to mention the NYC suburbs in CT, NY, and NJ... that contain more million/billion-aires than mere Britain could imagine.... YOU BRITS NEED TO STOP LISTENING TO YOUR BS MEDIA, AND TAKE AN ECONOMICS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha... comparing London to NYC... :/

  • @admx94

"the richest/most powerful person in Britain would feel underdressed in the Upper East Side of NYC"

I've lived and worked in both NYC and London, and this kind of statement shows the kind of alarming disconnect from reality that's endemic in the USA. Sorry, but NYC is simply no longer the more interesting of the two cities, if it ever was. London is a far more impressive, refined and technologically vibrant place to live and work. NYC is comparatively a urine-soaked dump, sorry.

  • @Appletree34 Hmmm and who is leading the way in technology? The US by a long shot compared to Britain... Vibrant? London? More like drab and outdated. and urine soaked?? NY? no shit!! there a re plenty of homeless in NYC, but that isn't NYC as a whole... to make that kind of statement is unfair, and you know it. Ha, like Britain has got it all figured out, they're just the best in everything right?Do me a favor and look up GDP and HDI, and consider America's size. Britain is behind buddy.

  • @admx94 Apple Store in NY is so huge but London has world's biggest one.Apartments in NY are very expensive but they are way cheaper compared to One Hyde Park that cost over $250 million per apartment.London Underground is worlds oldest it also has world's longest track.JFK is a one of the busiest airport of course but its a joke compared to Heathrow Airport ps London contains 6 airports within a city. LD has poor living standard compared to other EU cities but still a lot higher than NY though

"look up GDP and HDI, and consider America's size"

Senior analysts such as Bill Gross claim that the USA is in a much worse financial state than Greece!

It has an exponentially increasing $14 trillion in federal debt which it now has no hope of repaying except through total destruction of the US dollar. WHEN the US dollar loses its world reserve currency status, your quality of life will be exposed for what it truly is - comparable to the destiny of the worst of the PIIGS nations.

  • @admx94

The median sale price for Upper East Side residences is below $1.5 million, the average listing price is $2.62 million - which is pitiful compared to some of the more influential London residential zones. This is the typical price for a small but reasonable 3 bedroom apartment in Central London.

  • @Appletree34 and you do realize that there are these things called outliers... right? You must understand that the Upper East Side is a VERY large region, not a small neighborhood. Also, in that large region there are outliers that make the average for the UES lower, not ALL of the upper east side is filthy rich, so that brings those averages down. But what that also shows, is that its not just some small community of rich people, its a large district.

  • Comment removed

  • @Appletree34 hmmm 5th avenue.... the most sought after retail space in the world. times square... the most expensive advertising space in the world. mind you, anyone with a LOT of money in NYC, doesn't live in the city, but in a NJ, CT, or NY suburb... as i said before. and then is chauffeured to work in a black Lincoln, Maybach, Rolls Royce, Bentley, or stretch. (not uncommon) anyway, I'm tired of arguing... I'm beginning to realize how stupid it is. and London is a great city.

  • @admx94

Sorry, but however much I try to like New York, the negatives far outweigh the positives. The people may be extrovert and perhaps friendlier in a certain respect, and the weather is more variable, but NYC is just big, tacky, loud, bloated, smelly, noisy, unclean, inefficient and overpriced (despite being a cheaper place to live than London.) And that's the good areas. The skyline loses its novelty after about 2 hours. Central Park is full of undercover gay men checking each other out.

  • lol all of you talking about how great and big London is... You've obviously never been to NYC..... Unfortunately, none of you understand the fact that You're comparing ONE borough of NYC to all of London (which includes the outer urban area). You nitwits think that NYC is only Manhattan (the island), WRONG..... NYC is made up of FIVE boroughs. Manhattan is only ONE of them! Haha... London and it's economic power PFFFFT

  • What I like about London is there is always somewhere and something interesting you haven't found yet.

  • NYC has had its time, chained to a vast ugly bloated carcass of a nation that has forsaken its foundational values for the disseminated vascular disease of greed, corruption and hedonism.

London, too has been culturally and morally handicapped by over a decade of malignant neosocialism, but is in a far stronger position to recover from the impending failure of the global financial system.

There is already a newly-born technological vibrancy to London which speaks of great things to come.

  • lONdON ...

The undisputed capital of the universe.

Anyone who says it aint is just JELLY!!

  • in london lives 1 000 000 criminals.

  • @peaou jealous u american freak

  • @MrAtonic well, first. i'm not american. second. i spend one month in london, and it was almost the worst time in my life. third. in london lives about 9 000 000 people, half of them are immigrants, and a big part of them - criminals. by the way, were are you from? london, i guess. ha! idealistic patriot.

  • @peaou then why you watching this video?????????????

  • @MrAtonic wait a minute.... calculating your question..... OH MY GOD!!! I MADE A MISTAKE!!! does any body know, how to spin Time back and DON"T WHACH THAT VIDEO??? thanks.

  • @peaou then why you watching this video????????????? well if you go to new york it has sooo much crime in the city so dont chat

  • First time i went to London i saw that this city is definately best city in all the world. London is just amaizing. I cannot wait to go back there on holiday. Actually i want to live there.

    Love from Deutschland .

  • @callin2427 Anything to do with England, and when it comes from a german... then it really means something!!! Haha!

  • wow i never new how beautiful London was until now

  • This boasting about London being 'best' city/"world capital" is not justified considering the relatively low quality of living of its inhabitants compared to many western cities of any size. Aside from cost of living, consider crime rate, pollution, unemployment rate, per capita income, population density, climate and many other factors. If the big numbers ("largest financial centre" etc) don't translate to actual high living standards, it's only good for empty boasting in a Press Release.

  • @Euroblast111 London is the most visited city in the world in most years so i think that speak for its self. Anyway, it is Good for Europe that we have many of most visited cities in all world. in comparison to other country in the world, london livng standard is very very good, just like other major European cities. I worked in UK 5 years, so i know what am talking about.

  • @callin2427 omg... so stupid you people are....... "most visited" because everyone in Europe visits the other countries/cities in Europe.... so... MORE VISITORS... duh you shit-heads....

  • @admx94 Sir, this video is not comparing London to New york, if you read the description you see that both London and New york discribed as Alpha++ rated cities, which is great.

  • London ranks low in international liveability comparisons, consistently below top 20. [sources: The Economist's World's Most Livable Cities; Mercer's City Rankings; Monocle's Most Livable Cities Index]. It is ranked below several German, Swiss, Australian, Canadian and many other cities.

London is only good for visitors and rich people, not for the struggling ordinary London folks.

  • When it comes to living with sheer class, no other city even comes close to beating London.

May take a city salary to experience the best the London has to offer though.

  • making my first trip across the pond this christmas can't wait!

  • @nakabar Any good?

  • @usernamealredytaken Dude! funny you should ask, my trip was post-poned till March! Kind of ended up being a good thing though, with all that mad winter they've had wreaking havoc on transportation and everything else. Wouldn't have been as much fun exploring and all that. I have high expectations for the spring though!

  • @nakabar Well good luck for then! You'll have to let us know how it goes!

  • Excellent! Outstanding photos. You show some of my favorite London places. If you wish, please visit Gad About Gals (our blog) and see our London videos.

  • 1:05 pliz , what's the name of the place

  • @anass09 I think its near Elephant and Castle

  • Jeez, man why you have to deafen me with the music..

  • @1234567loading This is the northern end of the group of government buildings collectively known as 'Whitehall', which today is the name of the road from Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square but is derived from the name of the palace (Europe's largest) standing here until 1698. This view appears to be taken from Blue Bridge which straddles the lake in St. James's Park. At the far (Buckingham Palace) end of this lake, these buildings are beautifully framed by the water, the bridge and the trees.

  • And 1:50 ?

  • What's the place at 1:44 ?

  • Wow! Very well done. Gorgeous photos.
