  • Im a owner of two 190ers myself...One 190E 2.6 and one 2.6 with a 3.0L M103 from W124. The Problem with highpower engines in this car, is the way to low weight on the rear axis.

    Its pretty much possible with 2 Persons to lift the cars back up, with your bare hands from behind.

    Friend drives 3.6 M103 Brabus on Base of 3.0L M103, has 245HP and 360NM Torque - it is impossible without 200kg additional weight in the trunk, to have full-power accelerations. And even then its a right-foot balancing.

  • Yes the W201 brabus 3.6-24 M104 was very much indeed a road going car made by brabus.

    I have head more about this than of the M103 brabus 190er.

    I even have the data for it.

  • I have a Brabus 190 3.6 24v which looks exactly like the one in the vid . Mine has the M104 engine and is a road going version.

  • Ok, nice, but everywhere else you read about the 3.6S it´s the 190 3.6-24 edition and not the 12valve M103 engine.

    If you work with brabus, can you then tell me what the "S" stands for?

    BRABUS 3.6S

    The BRABUS 3.6S is the 24 valve edition wich have 285Hp.

    I got the W124 BRABUS 3.6-24 with the 285 Hp and 382Nm engine.

    But your car is much more rare and so much like a new car.

    Seach for BRABUS 3.6-24 and you will find my black BRABUS at bilgalleri

  • What you got, is the M104. This is the M103, the "old" Inline-6

  • The M103 is not the "old" inline-6 it´s just the 12valve edition, the M103 was sold at the same time as the M104 up to 1993 but the M104 just came later in 1989 where the M103 came in 1986.

    The "new" M104 with the new designed injection came in 1993 with the 280E and 320E later renamed to the E-class E280 and E320

    The "old" M104 is the 300E-24

    The M103 is the Old Inline-6, because the M104 was the last Inline-6 build by MB.

    The 3.6S IS the M103, because the 190E 3.6-24 was never official. AND the 3.6 M104 was build by AMG, not Brabus.

    Oh and by the way, the M103 came in 1984 and was sold till 1995 in the 4-Matic versions.

    My point was just that the M103 was not the "old" compared to my M104 you pointet out, witch is not the last inline-6 either.

    M104 can be 2 different engines, and the M104980 is not the last inline 6 witch I got.

    The reson that I belived the brabus 3.6S was the M104980 is because it says so everywhere in magazines, ofcause they can be wrong, but interesting if you say the 190 3.6-24 (M104980) was not official

  • The only difference is that you got the KE-Injection, the rest is the same with the HFM-Injection, so you got the same engine.

    Only difference is the displacement.

    Theoreticly a 320 M104 would run with the KE-Injection

    The M104980, was ONLY available in the W124. Brabus used the 190E 2.6 as base for the 3.6S.

    Im not sure, but i think AMG did the same with the 3.2

  • Yes AMG did a 3.6 on the last M104998 The 3.6 AMG M10499X was found in the W210, W124 and W202

    No 3.6 was ever made from AMG on base of the M10498X

    The 300-24 was not only found in the W124 it was also found in the R129 as SL300-24 but then the engine number was different M104981 mainly because it was in another model, no difference else regarding the engine.

    the W201 3.6-24 was made on the 2.6 but nedded head from the M104 and was extreemly expencive because of the modifications I was told

  • I have now found the proff that brabus DID built a 190 3.6-24 car and this was very much endded built on the basis of the M103 2.6 engine.

    But brabus removed the head, the crank, the pistons and put a head on from a M104 used the crank from the Diesel 350SD with new bore and (KS)pistons of 92,25mm

    So yes the brabus 3.6-24 was built over the M103 but with a lot of modifications

    Seach youtube for brabus 3.6-24 then you will se it.

    On the bottom block it will say M103
