The picture presentation was perfect... was given seperate, instead of my bio. teacher who gave us a full vie lol all at once... she was like color/ this, wtf???
Wait is it just me or did she make a mistake? She just said that green light is the most important for photosynthesis? Green light isnt even used by chlorophyll how the hell is it important. Someone please reply this. Im studying for a test
@NmHman127Nugget It's a useful tool, but the labs might be a bit more difficult to accomplish. ;-) This series is a great review for the class I just finished. Wish I had known of it prior to my finals. Ah well, can't have everything.
what university is teaching that/? :) she is btw really good, i was a bit confused on the whole photosynthesis topic but she definitely can explain well!!! :)
At around 43:45 when she was talking about how carotenoids protect the chlorophyll or ultimatley the DNA, couldn't that have something to do with cancer?she said it damage DNA and basically excessive reproduction of cells is because are faulty genes. Where I'm getting at is that wouldnt the exessive light, in humans, have something to do with damage to DNA. Because we dont have something like caretonoids present in our skin cells.
Indeed light, especially UV light does degrade our DNA in our skin cells. WHich is why sunbeds are bad for you and why high exposure to sunlight can cause types of skin cancer. However humans do have natural compunds and pathways to repair and protect DNA. One big one is melanocytes in our skin which contain melanin a pigment that sorta helps absord high energy light . Cartenoids are really important for plants because the forcibly epose their cells to high energy light. V intresting :)
@AkshXP we have MELANIN..well, people with dark skin colour have a good presence of melanin. That's why all the people living on the Equator have a lot of melanin in their skin (because the sun is intense there), and are thus tanned or brown.
No, you're NOT. I'm sure it's just a topic about photosynthesis, not reaction mechanisms and etc. I'm sure you're just told that it's just a way for plants to make glucose, and emit oxygen, but you're definitely not told what ribulose bifosphate, ribulose bifosphate carboxylase and NADPH is. You probably won't be even told that there are two steps: light reactions and the Calvin's cycle.
no but she does do a better job than my proffessor does. We actually use the same slides and the same textbook. My proff, she just basicly reads from the slides. If i ever question anything she never knows the answer!
Why can't we engineer chloroplasts for ourselves? Even if they only generated a small fraction of the energy we need it still seems like way to save energy.

every piece of carbon in your body has been generated through photosynthetic carboxylation. Without photosynthesis no one would be here...

@sarebear248 yea college basics are mainly just a repeat of what you learned in high school they just go into a more depth on certian things.

so what kind of light does cannabis absorb? I'm pretty sure thats the only reason anyone studies plants anyone,-
Is it just me or should all college be done on youtube?
