i actually think this is really cute.. they're nibbling each other :D but not in a painful way... sometimes when (one of) my hamster(s) grooms himself he nibbles his fur in a cleaning-style way. i'm not sure why they do it. (my cats do it too) it's not fleas, it's just the way he grooms himself sometimes. it looks like the same with these hamsters. they aren't really biting eachother, more kind of, nibbling.
oh, and if they actually did damage, their coats wouldn't look so good (probably all matterd & have bits missing or something), they're would probably be some blood or something, injured hamsters in the cage... stuff like that. but there's nothing like that in there, so they aren't hurting each other, just having some fun :)

For those who are interested, the ultimate result of a hamster fight gone to far is death. Having seen a Syrian hamster younger than these savaged and dead with its lower face gone, these need to be separated.
That's not play. That's fighting! It can result in a dead hamster or a savaged hamster. We had the pleasure of seeing the results of this level of fighting in a local pet store--a dead baby hamster with it's lower jaw and face missing.
We've also seen the results of minor injuries with ours. That also resulted in a you dead dwarf hamster. Because of relatively minor injuries - the bottom of a paw opened and a bite across the nose one of our 3 Roborovskis died at 3 months old.
Yeah this isn't a fight, trust me... My hamsters had realy fought each other and we had to seperate them. If it is a fight there would be blood... not a pretty sight :(

When this was filmed the hamsters were very young and unable to cause any real harm to one another... I think they are separated at 6 weeks old, when they start to become more able to do serious harm, and these were only a week or 2 old at the time
they are playing if they were fighting there will be blood BLOOD!!!! also i put my male and female together once they were almost fighting then my hamster gave birth to 6 kids
Well, the term can be used as play fighting, so they aren't entirely correct. And you were lucky with your hamsters, you can't just put them in together and they mate. Syrians will fight, you have to do research before breeding them.

When this was filmed the hamsters were very young and unable to cause any real harm to one another... I think they are separated at 6 weeks old, when they start to become more able to do serious harm, and these were only a week or 2 old at the time

Lol, I love them :) I used to have a Syrian but she died...
And dwarvies are tiny ^-^ But that means they can escape easily and die younger...(They can fit through a 1.5 cm gap!!)

Well, the term can be used as play fighting, so they aren't entirely correct. And you were lucky with your hamsters, you can't just put them in together and they mate. Syrians will fight, you have to do research before breeding them.
