  • OMG! I'm so glad Milo didn't die from eating the mushroom. If he did,I would be sooooo heartbroken.

  • A cat falling repeatedly onto rocks is abuse. Pretty straightforward, folks.

  • The fall into the water isn't so bad, but the fact that they let it attempt to climb up the slick rocks, then fall onto the rocks makes it very clear that they were willing to allow animals to come to harm, and did. Seriously, someone please try to argue that allowing a cat to fall onto rocks and get swept into strong waves isn't abuse. Actually, don't bother, because it clearly IS abuse.

  • I think that they should have kept the Japanese music in the US release

  • i broke my disc in half and threw it in the garbage. FUCK THIS MOVIE AND FUCK THE A-HOLES WHO TORTURED THOSE POOR ANIMALS >:(

  • I'm hearing these rumors saying that animals were harmed in the making of this movie. I'm hoping this isn't true. :( I'd cry if I saw any animals harmed, especially cats. That's one of my biggest pet peeves and sensitivity issues. I love cats to death and would hate to see them get harmed. That said, I used to like this movie back in high school. They claim at the end that no animals were harmed. I'm hoping that is true, but I dunno.

  • Otis fights a rhino beetle.

  • damn the chinese verios is soooooo much better

  • 0:24 is not a deleted scene, I had the chinese version of it and the scene was showed

  • I hope they never make anything like this ever again. It's disgusting knowing that so many animals were harmed and killed in the making of this movie for peoples enjoyment

  • @MikkiiMuffin Dude, there weren't any animals killed/harmed in this movie- there's a lot of rumours of it, but they were all proven wrong or groundless. You're an idiot.

  • @magnus1114 I highly doubt any weren't harmed. There is a scene where Milo gets a crab caught on his tail, and Otis get slapped around by a bear, that's harm. I'm trying not to point out the obvious "thrown off the cliff" scene. Where is the proof that they were safe? and unharmed? The back of the box sure doesn't say "No animals were harmed in the making of this movie"! (I just checked)

Prove me wrong, show me that no animals were harmed or killed.

  • I use to love milo and otis, but now I feel down right sick watching it knowing Milo, Otis and many other of the characters died in the making of this film. They broke milo's paw for fuck sake, not his fall, but the directors and crew!!!

  • @Spartamin None of these claims could be proven. Furthermore, they all came from Australians and Europeans, who with a chance of 99.9% weren't around when the film was shot in *Japan*.

  • @jellybrother Well, claims weren`t proven, but they still were extremely strong cases and what your saying is exactly what the director and producers said, and I have know clue where you`d get 99.9% from.

  • damn animal cruelty!

  • Mushrooms bad. Very very bad!

  • Don't walk over the chickens!

  • There is NO WAY you could make this in America. At least there's no room for a remake.

  • 8:26

that fucking hurts even for that little cat and then they make it do it again...wtf

  • It really is *digusting* what people will do for entertainment :(

  • godammit, this was my favorite movie as a kid and havent seen it since untill recently on youtube.

and now I'm hearing rumors that some of the puppies and kitties died, I pretended to ignore that, but after watching the bear scene,Its painfully obvious

that something wasnt right, and the animals werent treated poorly throuout the film

once again the Internet continues to rape my childhood, fuck

  • This is blatant animal cruelty. A cat shouldn't mess with a harmless grass snake. A de-clawed, tamed bear should never tussle with a dog who is clearly not in any pain nor showing fear. People (the film makers) should not ever place a harmless adhesive on a kittens paw, as it clearly distresses the kitten to the point of drug taking. And a 10-20 foot fall into water is so obviously deadly for a cat (search "flying cat", among others!) that they needed to replace it 20 times over.

    /rant.

  • I can understand why some of these scenes may have been deleted; it was marketed as a kids movie, at least in America. Some of these scenes may be too intense for young kids, especially the one with the bear cub fighting with Otis.

  • @alwrig That scene is in there, just shortened from whats in this video. What I can't believe is Milo falling off the cliff. They actually threw a cat off a cliff and had it try to climb back up only to fall onto the rocks below. They just sat there filming. I loved this movie as a kid and still do but now I can think about how it was made with no regard for animal safety.

  • Im suprised they didnt just let the cat sit there while the train went over the top of him... They might as well have every other scene is movie is just cruel.

  • Here is how this movie works, This movie was filmed in japan and 20 kittens WERE killed during the cliff scene, they would throw a cat off till they saw the scene fit for the movie, as well as a cats paw was broken to make it appear unsteady when it walked. Animals were harmed during the movie, But this movie is Japanese and it is from the 80's, and PETA is a extreme animal rights organization they go to far to show what they believe in and they are outlandish, so I'd follow someone else ;)

  • @RavenFeather7 Dead wrong. You got all of that information of Wikipedia, didn't you? Dead wrong.

  • I used to watch this all the time as a kid. And then my friends and I recently watched it, heavily influenced on alcohol and blunt magic. When the cat went over the waterfall, I thought 'they really just let a cat go over a high ass cliff". They set these animals up lmfao!

  • I wasn't aware about animal cruelty in this movie, i just started watching it for the first time i my life, but the scene where Otis fights with the bear ... i don't know, it seems so real and i can't believe that the dog wasn't harmed. I'm not some kind of fanatic animal protector, but i do love animals, especially birds, so some scenes was a bit too much for me.

  • @Anchoviakis

Ya, complain about that, and not how they hurl a cat off a cliff, ha ha

  • 27 cats died in the making of this movie....they would throw the cats off cliffs till one of them survived

  • @hmb1233 I do not believe you, btw.

  • @hmb1233 Nevermind, I do believe you now. sorry about that. this is disturbing.

  • Hey uh everyone who thinks these animals were just fine due to laws...this was NOT filmed in America...it was filmed in japan. They eat dog in Japan...hello! And at the end of the movie there is no disclaimer saying no animals were harmed just that they were supervised. WTF does that mean!?!?!

  • @themollyface supervised means they were watched after

  • I honestly don't think a cat was actually thrown off a friggin cliff. Come on people. But the part after that, where Milo tries to climb up and falls and gets knocked over by the waves...that may have been real. I don't see how else they could've done it. And I don't think they killed any cats. At least that's what I'm gonna tell myself because I've loved this movie all these years and I'm not gonna stop now because of some rumors.

  • oh man, i haven't seen this movie in 20 years.

  • I can tell why most of these scenes were deleted. Especially the bear scene. you can tell both the animals are trained to be "fighting" with each other, but the extended part is a little violent for kids, even tho its not really real

  • for the people who say the movie's producers intentionally broke a kitten's paw so it could walk with a limp in one scene. They didn't they tied a piece of sting on his paw. If you have cats you'd know that if something gets stuck on there paw they won't walk on it. and If there were 20 cats used in making this film why are all the marking the same. Make up can only do so much.

  • fake

  • I like the part with the horse

  • Cats are tough, but I still feel bad for Milo when he gets thrown off the cliff. Still, this is an amazing movie.

  • Wow the deleted scenes are freakon awesome! Milo trips balls of shrooms haha :)

  • I never realised how cruel this was on the animals

One of the few enjoyable moments of my childhood has just been shattered

  • @LostTheGameXD not cruel at all. Nature is far more cruel

  • In Japan it is known but...

The director has farm for all animals and he lives together.

Actually bear and dog, cats..etc live in good relation, grow up together, that's why this movie became possible.

It's so amazing that's why he became famous.

He lives together by suited way to treating for each animals..

Actually he lives with all animals as family member.

I really recommend to see Japanese version.

It is more calm and mystic beauty throughout the whole film without such voices, music.

  • @Emiko0510jp Do you know of any source on the internet? There aren't many I can find. It would put me more at ease about throwing a cat off a cliff.

  • WOW this is awesome! I never thought there was deleted scenes, it'd be cool to see outakes! Poor Otis gets attacked by the bear!

  • This my most favorite movie ever since I was a little kid. I think it's ridiculous that people are being stupid and getting their panties tightly wadded up their asses and going on and on about how there is so much animal cruelty in it. Give me proof of animals being tortured and killed. Literal news paper fucking proof!

  • Watch closely at the end and you can clearly see the cat (Milo) surface and shake his head after hitting the water. You can also see him swimming as well.

  • lmao mushroom kitty. then right after he eats the mushrooms he looks all "WTF"

  • ....allot of this I remember seeing D:

  • I own Koneko Monogatari on DVD as well for Milio and Otis. Plus, all the contriverty over the movie is islly. Considering the movie was filmed in 1986.

  • "Omg they threw the cat off a cliff!" ...well, I highly doubt that, during that time, the cat would have let a human pick it up. Barn cats are 99.99999% feral animals. Even tame cats border on feral. I was raised with cats living in our barn so this is out of the ordinary for me. Shoot, we still have cats that won't let us pick them up.

Cats are curious creatures.. and each have their own personalities. Cats can claw through metal window screens if they wanted to...and jump six feet high.

  • LOLOL @ Milo getting high. The cliff scene at the end is in my original video of this, not on my computer version though.

  • Lol @ Milo getting high.

  • the people that made this movie should be fucking tortured. You shouldn't hurt animals just so you can make a movie.

  • HOLY CRAP I haven't seen this movie since I was like 3 or 4 shit!

  • Does anyone know what ever happened to Milo and Otis?

  • Fcuk me wtf is wrong with all these putses. I mean come on the Pug is playing with the bear!!! If that bear wanted to hurt the Pug he would!!! I have a Pug myself and he was attacked by TWO Pitbulls he was chased and then bitten several times with chunks of his flesh taken out. We got to him in time before they would have killed him. Also the Pug is fighting back, if it was a real fight that Pug would be running! It looks just like when my Pug and other dog play.

  • o my gosh! The kitten fell so close to the rock he was incredibly lucky! Animal cruelty or not that part is clearly real and can make anyone cringe..didn't like watching that

Also the bear grabbig the dog in both paws..I bet the puppy thinks it's gonna die =/

  • actually I doubt that the cat was in any real danger. If you look at the part whne he is falling you notice that the camera is only a few frames per second. Look closely at the waves in the ocean. They are not moving. This means that they dropped a cat and then added the background. The real part is when the cat is near the water. Then the waves start moving. This was safe enough for the cat and not animal cruelty.

  • I know about your concern of the cruelty. I have read on wikipedia that australian animals rights had raised allegations on things that I heard about. That there were 20 deaths of kittens, and where Milo is limping in one deleted part, his paw was broken on purpose to make that happen. I don't know how high you must be on a cliff in order to die, but that poor cat who had fallen in the lake couldn't have possibly survived that fall. After loving this as a kid, it makes me sick now.

  • haaaaaaaaaaa ce film, mon enfance j'en chiallerait presque :') c'est culte !!!!

  • i rather choose this kind of movie over the overrated CGI bs they have today. its more realistic and plus they dont CG their mouths to talk like sadly in todays movies.

there are touching and potential brutal scenes in this movie, however just enjoy the movie people.

  • Ever try combineing the japanese scenes and new voices for the spanish version.

  • it's a little kid movie that's the point. it can be stupid, but the animals are cute

  • To all the people saying "Those were just phony rumors about the cats dying. If you believe that you're an idiot." Umm...WATCH THE FUCKING VIDEO! That dog was not enjoyed the bear knocking it around. The dog was fearing for his life! And I really doubt that that cat enjoyed being THROWN FROM A CLIFF! It doesn't matter if the rumors about 20 cats dying is true or not. What IS A FACT is that animals were TORTURED to make this movie!

  • @SonicDeeHedgehog

WAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM!? the cat was not thrown off a CLIFF! they just dropped the cat from like a counter and took pictures of it. DID U SEE THE WAVES? they werent moving! it was a scene they added to the pictures! the waves move when he's CLOSE, so the waves DO MOVE and the 4 feet from water part is true! GAWD, get ur facts right!

  • @KitKatTheToon Yeah they do move. The whole scene is in slow motion so you have to look carefully. That was not trick filming, that was a cat falling off a cliff.

  • that is fucked up.

  • Why do people keep giving thumbs down to people who talk about the cats dying? Some one please give me a good answer.

  • @lycana911 I think it's because people love this movie and it's hard to hear so they get angry. I loved this movie growing up and I still do, and maybe I was naive but it makes me sad to hear these things about beloved characters.

  • 1:35 is sad poor puggy :(

ps WHO EVER FILMED THIS I AM GOING TO sHAnK YOU WITH A CANDY CANE!

  • Comment removed

  • @niswel I agree with what your TRYING to say.

Lives, dare, throw, conscious, saw... English isn't your native language is it?

  • The other narrator sounds very much like Elijah Wood.

  • That bear was just a cub, I think he only wanted to play with the dog.

  • ya so you think that at the end when he falls from a cliff into water, he jumped? oh and that the jagged rocks that he fell on climbing up were foam? i guess not...i live on a farm with 12 cats and none of them are treated that horribly....

  • This movie makes me cry more then it's Possible...

Kitten leaves his friend and is blinded by love..

Doggy tries to be friends with Chatran, but Chatran can't hear him..

When the movie was done, I just fell down crying :)

    Touching.

And to you who belive that 20 cats died.. Guess you are having the best time thinking about that, huh? ^^

    Enjoy it dammit! :)

  • Wow, I was born in 86' and when I first saw this at the age of four, I proclaimed it my favorite movie. As of today, it's still in my favorites. The animal dialogue is awesome and not completely obnoxious like the Disney "Homeward Bound" movies. (They weren't bad, but they aren't "Milo and Otis" either!)

  • I liked the parts where Milo was trying to eat and finds out that mushrooms are bad.

I also like the part when he rides on the horse.

However, they were not fit very well.

  • wow, i dont think i ever saw the deleted scenes. neat

  • will they make anymore movies with otis and milo???? wish they would

  • @Sauron767 The actors playing Milo and Otis are definitely dead.

  • @Sauron767 I don't think they will :'( I'm pretty sure Milo & Otis died.

  • masanori hata(mutsugorou) produced these movies. He's a 74 year old Japanese He has an animal kingdom in Hokkaido japan. It is called "ムツゴロウ王国--Mutsu Goro kingdom" He lives with many family and dogs cats horses. He sometimes does a trip to the world and writes the story of the animal. I read a true story which he wrote in my childhood. He knew habits of animals well. He really lived with a bear. P.S.Hokkaido is a wonderful place! :) Thank you.
  • the japanese version doesn't look to great

  • Comment removed

  • Guh I love this movie but Im glad they have laws protecting animals in movies now lol.

  • Comment removed

  • Don't tell me you're one of those rumor loving asshats. "They killed 20 kittens making this movie." "They actually broke that kittens paw to make it act that way." You people just get off on these sick rumors. The men that made this movie were animal lovers. They could teach you fascist PETA sierra club fucks a thing or two about loving nature.

  • Animal lovers don't throw cats off cliffs

  • If this is from the Japanese version then how come they're not speaking Japanese?

BTW I used to love this movie when I was younger and I still do, I got the DVD.I just watched it lol.

  • me too, even though I have it on VHS haha

  • BEST MOVIE EVER FUCK YOU

  • Yes it is.

  • at 4:10 the cat limps, and watching it now I'm really wondering if someone did injure or break it's paw just for that scene, like I read. Japan doesn't exactly have a good track record when it comes to animal cruelty.

And the worst part: Even if no animals were physically harmed, they were definitely treated cruelly. Having one fall off a cliff is cruelty even if it wasn't harmed.

  • This is THE BEST (I repeat) BEST Movie to watch when your baked!

  • haaaahaha so true! definitely used to watch this when i was like 3 or 4 and recently went to wal mart with someone and saw it in the $5 bin. most ridiculous concept for a film ever.

  • If the other narrator had done this movie, it would've been terrible

  • cool I could see why the snake scene was cut though.

  • 4:10

    Fuck... I cried.

  • I have to admit that it is interesting seeing these deleted scenes and learing that some of the scenes in the American version were added on from the Japanese. I even find it intriguing to hear the differences in the music and in the narration; I loved Moore's narration, and I always will, but it IS interesting to see this versiont too. I can understand why some of these were cut out, though.

  • i loved this movie as a kid, i don't get why people are picking on this movie, is it because it was made in Japan and not in America? what about scenes from Old Yeller, he fought a bear and a wolf, was trained to crawl as if hurt when the hog gored him. these animals are trained. its also makeup, fake blood, ect. ever seen The Incredible Journey, Luau gets a face full of porcupine quills, don't hear anything about that.

  • Yeah but there were allegations that 20 kittens got killed during the making of this film, and that one of the movie's producers intentionally broke a kitten's paw so it could walk with a limp in one scene. Porcupine quills in a dog's face is one thing... broken bones and animals being killed to make a movie is another.

  • I didn't even know the movie was made in Japan when I first saw it. I just knew that animals were tortured when making this movie. There is no "fun" way to throw a cat off a cliff that wont scare the living shit out of the cat. And they threw the cat so close to the rocks, if they missed, kitty's skull would be broken.

  • wow this movie has so much abuse then i remembered :D but i still love it :D

  • when i was a kid growing up i love this movie even made me cry at the end =) .

  • Some of the scenes here are extended versions of scenes that made it into the American version. Many don't exist in it.

  • Oh ok.

  • the "dont walk on the chickens"wasnt deleted 0_o

  • No, it's just included to show where the next bit happens chronologically in the movie.

  • that's well bad

can't believe this is supposed to be for kids

  • what is the title of the song?

  • Who's narrating this? Their imitation of the narrator is terrible.

I don't understand where the cruelty to animals comes in. The bear is obviously trained, it could have easily ripped Otis' head off in a split-second if it wanted too.

Also a large amount of the footage the movie was cut from is just "stick some tamed animals in an area and see how they interact." Accidents (like the alleged paw breaking, which I think was a sprain) will happen.

  • HAHAHA who care about the dog, that's a funny film. When I was young I used to force frog to smoke and that was awesome

  • @ SonicDeeHedgehog

you best be trolling. i've seen many shows and movies where small children are with dangerous animals. of course there's danger, but they're not nailing the cats feet to the ground and covering it in honey. and anyways, if you've ever seen the movie before (as you claim to have) you'd recognize in an instant that the person doing the voice is different (and not just the first guy)

  • sonic you suck

  • how many pubs were eatened by d bear? bout 6-7 uf em..

  • There were so many alleged accounts of animal cruelty to this film like the producer killing around 20 cats and purposely breaking a Cats paw to make it seem uneasy on its Feet but because of no hard evidence they were discarded this movie was my favourite childhood movie but from what ive heard its sick

  • Ha ha I watched this the other day with my friend just for a laugh because I hadn't seen it in forever, and we were watching the cats' eyes just to see how many times they switched it...

  • these were deleted?

  • Technically no. About 20 hours of film was shot in Japan in the early 80s. Japan cut one film out of the 20 hours of film called "The Adventures of Chatran." Years later the U.S. cut its own film out of the 20 hours of film called "The Adventures of Milo & Otis."

  • I appreciate you uploading this (The Adventures of Chatran is certainly Region 2 and unplayable in US DVD players)...I've been a fan of Milo and Otis since I was a kid, but revisiting it years later and seeing the deleted scenes is really disturbing...I read on Lexis-Nexus that Australian groups at the time alleged cruelty among producers including the alleged breaking of Milo's paw, I remember being like - "what, that's not in the movie" but seeing this puts things into perspective. What say u?

  • yeah, basicly, the story was made up using the footage taken.

  • Interesting soundtrack in the original. I have a soft spot for 80's synth sounds.

  • BAH!! plz don't walk on teh chickens

    one of my fave lines

  • good lord, i watch this movie like i was hypnotized; just like "Les Triplets de Belleville"

  • hey wats your problem the cat didn`t die

  • yeah, i think it would be only logical to cut scenes of Otis fighting the bear (most definitely trained, but still) and Milo falling down the cliff face (though, it was still his choice), as they are trying to target a G rating

  • note to self mushrooms bad - pfft, where did you go to learn how to act, the animals are better actors! - and narration in the first bit where the cat is fending off the snake is like i'm watching a nature doco

  • and not that i didn't find the japanese music bad. but i prefer the music on the english version

  • thank god they got dudley moore to do the voices and naration for the english version, she?/he? sounds freaky - and these scenes effect the pace of the movie

  • Well, there's no way they're getting Dudley Moore to do this now.

  • I know that that had special effects back in the 80's but milo struggling to climb the cliff and falling in again and again has to be real footage. It's just too authentic. It seems like 80's special effects were generally used for things like space ships. I think that a realistic looking and acting cat would be much harder to generate on a computer than a piece of machinery. Also, why would they bother when all they had to do was toss a cat over a cliff into the ocean and see what happened?

  • The part that disturbed me most was when the cat kept trying to climb the cliff and falling back into the water again. It looks like he may have landed on the rocks in those falls. And he definitely got smacked around by the waves. I agree with LMann, poor kitty!!

  • Thank you. :)

  • Romeropablo: Dude who makes no sense- Say Wha???

That is some real animal that fell off the cliff. The slow motion makes it that much more graphic. Watch as it hits the water feet first (just like a CAT) and see it shake it's head when it resurfaces. That poor kitty. :(

  • the last 30 seconds made me sick

how could they do that to the kitty?!

i wouldnt be surprised if that cat had a few broken bones after that...

  • Love the techno soundtrack from the Japanese version.

  • Where did you get these? This is my favorite movie and I've never even heard of these deleted scenes.

  • GREAT MOVIE nonetheless.

  • You guys are idiots they used stunt doubles for all the extreme scenes, neither Milo or Otis were hurt in the filming.

  • stunt doubles. you mean another cat. so milo didnt die, just his other stunt doubles did. I questioned that rumor until i saw this video, especially the last 30 seconds or so. it was disturbing

  • it'd be like if they made a movie starring the olson twins, doing different scenes as the same girl, and one girl gets killed in the filming, and you say "well, the CHARACTER is still alive tho."

  • My grandfather used to joke around saying, "They went through 400 orange cats to make this film." It's not true though, because no animals were severely harmed in the making of the film.

  • haha

    SEVERELY

    wow

  • The producers o tis film make animals suffer! they made a cat fall of a cliff of about 359 M!!

  • Relax: About this film, there was a lot of hoaxes and miths. No animal was harmed. It was directed by 6 coachs and a lot of edition. The director recently unmistified all.

  • Well, a crab pinching a cat on it's mouth sounds rather 'harmful'.

  • Yes: and the crew retired it the crab and separate the cat and the crab. And cats learn to respect crab: it's the life: You watch lions eating animals in Animal Planet, in live action. It's called nature. And Humans kill people for pleasure. That's harmful too.

  • when a lions eat other animals that happens in nature. that's life.

but people throwing domesticated cats off of a cliff, or exposing them to wild animals for a movie is not natural at all.

i don't know what your point is about humans killing people. are you saying that because there's murder, it's ok to harm animals?

  • No. I agree with you. But Humans are worst than animals. BUT this movie did not have what all people said. They ware trained animals.

  • trained crab?

    trained bear cub?

    trained snake?

    trained kitten?

    trained newborn puppies?

  • They can train all kinds of animals to do just about anything, usually they only do it because they are rewarded with food! They used to train them for missions during the war!

  • When and where did he 'unmistify' it? Do you have a link?

  • Большое спасибо!! Это мой любимый фильм из детства)) Thanks!!

  • i used to love this movie when i was a kid.. but recently.. i watched it.. and i realized... a lot of horrible shit happened to these poor animals..

    'specially that cliff scene...

  • Holy shit.. that cliff scene was terrible 0.0

  • The idiots on IMDB are actually believing what some moron is claiming. He said the director went through 30 Milo and Otis' during the film.

  • I find it hilarious that the mother cat is defending her kittens against a 'venomous snake' that is blatantly NOT VENOMOUS AT ALL.

  • Lots of these are in the Dvd that I have, maybe there's a few diff cuts but the 'walking on the chickens', Milo playing eith the baby birds, Otis playing with the beetle and the frog croaking but DEFINITLEY not the little rabbit which is very cute!

And who the hell is the lady's voice?? I've only ever seen the version dubbed by Dudley Moore

also, the Deadwood swamped always scares me :)

  • You're right, but walking on the chickens and Milo playing with the baby birds I include just to show where the deleted bits I show fall into the movie. And you *won't* find Otis playing with the beetle in the regular Milo & Otis cut.

  • its a crab in the movie isnt it??not the beetle?? lol...both have exoskeletons...give me that

  • well i can see why some of those scenes got deleted from the english version.. the part with the snake, the bear and Chatran's poor paw and his struggle in the ocean would have terrified me as a child..i mean seeing some of this footage now as a adult was hard to watch...though i wish they kept some of the other scenes..like the part with the horse! that was so cute!

  • wow! their are alot of deleted scenes in that movie. I bet they got animal cantrol and treatment when they were making this movie. that sucks that they cut out the original background music out. damn english dub!

  • ..uhmm, i think these are in the movie..all of them exactly..

  • Nope, none of them.

  • Ya, most of these were in the movie.
