Tex Mex are 1950's to 1970s style pickups employing alnico magnet slugs (the 6 little pole pieces) instead of having a magnet BAR running across the bottom of the pickup-up. Turn the Tex-Mex pickup over, you see NO magnet attached to the bottom of the pole pieces because the pole pieces in the Tex Mex pickups ARE the magnets, whereas in the more recent model strat pickups, there's either one or two magnet pairs on bottom. The Tex-Mex style pickup is VERY BRIGHT.Modern Strat pickups are fatter.
For those of you who want to know about Tex-Mex pickups, ..they are bright and glassy, slightly thinner than other strat pickups in the midrange but have a nice bright glassy sound with lots of upper harmonics...they do not sound flat like cheaper PU's

Well. The pickups should sound amazing but they sound basic...Id say the guitar sounds maybe mexican if your lucky. The Agathis/pine body and weak neck structure made you waste your money on it.
no its a standard. affinities do not come equipped with the 2 point tremolo or an 11 hole pickguard. (it's an 8 hole just like 1954-56 ) the headstock on this cat's guitar says "Squier STRATOCASTER''. the affinity just says ''Squier STRAT''.
These pickups sound very bright and punchy. I own them and they suck with solid state amps. if you want the full tone of these pickups get a tube amp in order to compensate. Tubes will fatten the tone. and another thing lower the pickups to keep the sustain. The magnets are too strong.
i am almost sure it isn't the same value because i was reading something about different size amps for different reasons and it compare a 30 watt tube to a 60 to 800 watt solid state
Is changing pickups hard to do? Would i need a soldering gun or any special tools to do it? Would I be likely to permanently damage my guitar while changing pickups? If you could answer these questions I would be very grateful.
I have only played through one tube amp before and I'm not sure how many watts it had. I used it in a small show for about 200 people and it worked fine which was surprising considering that it's speaker was only 10" I think. Hope that is helpful!
Cara, timbre maravilhoso e vc é fera.

You probably know this but look at a bone nut and getting the stainless steel bridge saddles they really aid tone and sustain.

glad you were able to discern all the subtle characteristics of wood from a youtube video with poor audio quality and a too-loud backing track.

what about the pickups sound basic? it sounds like operator error to me.

In order: Easy; soldering iron and screwdriver ; this procedure doesn´t damage the guitar. Good Luck.
